Nah, nah, I loved both. The second one seriously came back with the new creatures (in my mind) having been the people that never left. Awesome review, though.
I'm not sure this was a continuation of the American ending. She said she escaped by being flush out by water, not climbed out from their hunting hole, and then the dog followed her scent to the river. And in the hospital she asks where her daughter was, alluding to the full ending where she's hallucinating being with her daughter. So I think we're supposed to assume she escaped possibly by happenstance after the full ending by falling into some water that swept her out to the river. Bringing her with them makes no sense to me tho, either she killed her friends, in which case bringing her down with you makes her a massive liability to you succeeding at finding the others, let alone making it out alive yourselves; or she's completely traumatized to the point of honestly not remembering anything and therefore being no help with directions. They should have left her at the hospital, maybe have an officer watch her while they're gone. Other than that, totally agree with everything else you pointed out, great rundown.
just a nit pic but a real hardened steel handcuff chain would not be easy to cut. even if she had an ax it would probably take hours. And you really wouldn't be cutting through it so much just stressing the metal out until it gives. Actually I don't even think it would be possible in any reasonable amount of time to get through the handcuff chain with anything with specialist tools or large bolt cutters. Quality hardened steel Is incredibly durable. Most people get their ideas for how tough steel is from examples of mild steel or iron.
The director of this was the editor of the first movie. And while I think editors as filmmakers can potentially be very efficient in terms of making sure a story flow, they still don't necessarily know what makes a good movie. Like, for example. Another editor who's directed films before is Stuart Baird. The only remotely good movie he's made was that Kurt Russell movie _Executive Decision,_ whereas he's also directed _U.S. Marshals_ (which was a follow-up to _The Fugitive_ and NOT as good) and _Star Trek: Nemesis_ (which people call the other bad _Trek_ film, even though I do like aspects of that film).
i think the reason why everything looks less believable in this movie is the lighting in the first one the director wanted to give the sets minimal/no lighting except the ones the characters had in the scene but in the second there is set lighting, which may cause the unreal feeling
You should do a review of this movie called "Crawl", it's not a bad film and it's about a girl trying to get her dad safe from a gator/crocodile. I won't say much beyond that, but I think you'll enjoy it.
I haven't gotten to far in the video, but we Canadian's got the gritty version of the first movie I guess because I didn't know there was a alternate version where the main girl didn't stab her friend and not get out of the cave
The thing is, police would NEVER make a survivor of ONE day still traumatized, still injured, go back into a cave that all her friends died. That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Now if he FORCED her, I feel like that would have made the movie much better. Also, the toilet scene ruined it for me.. like we knew when Sarah and rio were discussing what it was, what it was. They didn’t need to show it. But it should’ve Been the blood pit. It’s like they were on a budget & mud was cheaper. The ending with shovel, I hated it a first. Because how dare they have not one, not two, but THREE BAD ASS GIRLS DIE. Sarah sacrificed herself bc she knew she had a daughter that needed her when she no longer did.. and the theory about the old creeper having ancestors that developed into those things, was some quick ass evolution from the time of the mining expo.. the story had major potential. But they ruined it with those things. So because I liked those three girls, I pretend those scenes don’t exist..
The Descent had a sequel? I didn't see the first movie but I know it exists. Off topic but I saw Dune yesterday and it's absolutely amazing. I think you will enjoy it.
@@Alteori I bought my ticket as soon as possible and it was worth it I'mglad I saw it in cinema bc the music was just awesome. I even bought the book so I'm going to read it.
honestly i didn't hate this movie. didn't think it was the best but i liked it okay. why? cuz i've seen plenty of lions gate and i felt they did this movie okay. as for the monsters? they kinda looked that way in the first one... and the not being able to see anything... while it adds ambience i can also see that being a complaint from people. they say it all the time in games. "i can't see". hell they said it in the venom movie... so i wouldn't be surprised if the lighting has to do with that.

Ive just found you. And i already wana make fan art of your charater! 🤣
Love your reviews!
They made a movie called They. not the Roddy piper one it is worth a look. I just realized the one with rowdy piper is called "They live.
Ah well after that migraine inducing labor, I suggest a Netflix series Midnight Mass to be specific no bullshit jumpscares nuff said 😍🤘
The "Angel" Demon thing is pretty badass in Midnight mass
the "creepy JB" comment killed me
Them bat humanoid things just needed a wash, they'd feel a lot better and not be so angry!!
Wait they made another?
Why?
i think the reason why everything looks less believable in this movie is the lighting
in the first one the director wanted to give the sets minimal/no lighting except the ones the characters had in the scene
but in the second there is set lighting, which may cause the unreal feeling
wait no she really killed Juno who accidentally killed Beth in the cave by pick axing her in the neck and then left her to die and lied about it.
That annoying yell... 🤣🤣🤣
I was making my food and i payd little attention to the video and the second i switch my attention to the video i hear this 6:06 xDDD
Looking forward to the next video
You really should check out Dead Set, it’s a British television series similar in tone to this movie that plays on horror and suspense.
You should do a review of this movie called "Crawl", it's not a bad film and it's about a girl trying to get her dad safe from a gator/crocodile. I won't say much beyond that, but I think you'll enjoy it.
already did it
@@Alteori 😅 Looks like I'm a bit late then, certainly will check it out. Great videos 👍
@@orion4817 thanks!
The first film was great! (Love the actor's commentary!) The second one-could have been better. Didn't like the end at all.
I haven't gotten to far in the video, but we Canadian's got the gritty version of the first movie I guess because I didn't know there was a alternate version where the main girl didn't stab her friend and not get out of the cave
Wish I'd seen this before I watched that movie
If you get time try out the book. It's totally different and an absolutely awesome read. Keep up the good videos!
Alteori: Guess who comes up to his vehicle
UA-cam: GoogleFI
You should review lost tapes it has a few aspects that are similar to this movie
The Descent had a sequel? I didn't see the first movie but I know it exists.
Off topic but I saw Dune yesterday and it's absolutely amazing. I think you will enjoy it.
Oh really? I haven't seen it yet
@@Alteori I bought my ticket as soon as possible and it was worth it I'mglad I saw it in cinema bc the music was just awesome. I even bought the book so I'm going to read it.
@@Alteori if the monster is farting and pooping would the other ones attack it do to it making booty noises?🤔
This movie looks sick, I gotta watch this.
2:53 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😁hey alteori
That title got me lol cuz it's 100% true xD
How did an affair happen with Juno not being responsible??
Oh no, she is very much responsible as was the husband but I don't think it's her fault he got in a Final Destination car accident 😅
@@Alteori Agreed...just pulling your leg.
Hey Alteori, you look different.
New haircut?
Oh well, that get's this movie off my list
honestly i didn't hate this movie. didn't think it was the best but i liked it okay. why? cuz i've seen plenty of lions gate and i felt they did this movie okay. as for the monsters? they kinda looked that way in the first one... and the not being able to see anything... while it adds ambience i can also see that being a complaint from people. they say it all the time in games. "i can't see".
hell they said it in the venom movie... so i wouldn't be surprised if the lighting has to do with that.
