Thanks so much for making this video Ian. You've inspired me to train even harder. We are going to incorporate this routine into our training on the Isle of Wight. Very impressive 🙏
Wow! Thank you for your comment Lisa. 🙏🏻. I really hope that this helps you. Let me know! And please share the video with anyone who you think might benefit from it Lisa, Iain. 😊
Very impressive!!! I'm turning 66 now and started doing middle splits 6 months ago. I really want to achieve this in this lifetime, an extraordinary level of flexibility. I started at 53 cm above the ground and am now standing at 28 cm for 30 seconds without using my hands. I just can't seem to go any further, maybe I've trained too much without breaks, several times a day. Based on your experience with other people, how long does it take on average to achieve this? 1-2 years? How often should you train? 3-5 times a week, how long each session ??! A personal question though: how long did it take you to reach the middle split? Thanks for this video and the motivation to continue !!
Very many thanks for your interest Holger. 😊. It took me about 18 months to achieve this split for the first time. I was training quite consistently and holding these stretches for long periods. But I was still just 25! 😆. I did let my flexibility lapse a bit but started stretching seriously again in my late forties and have kept it up. I suspect that the older the person, the longer it takes but I am definitely still improving my flexibility. I suggest aiming to achieve a full split in a year whilst still playing safe. 🙏🏻. Stretching whilst feeling stiff is not productive. Since recovery time increases with age consider doing 3 deep stretch sessions a week and just light stretching in between. If you are ‘stuck’ then consider taking a break of a week or so to recover. ua-cam.com/video/yNmq0DwfRWg/v-deo.htmlsi=St4JUutTHIixgHlj This is a video of one of our stretching sessions - you might find it helpful. 😊. I definitely wish you success and would love to hear of your progress in the future Hofer, Iain. 🙏🏻
@@namyang1954 *Thank you very much for your quick reply. I was very pleased about it*. I will follow your advice and inform you every 3 months!!! From your personal experience, is isometric stretching (3 deep stretch sessions a week) while standing the best exercise for the middle split?! In one session, hold the isostretch 3-5 times and go deeper and deeper, then take a short break and repeat the whole thing 3-5 times. That would be 1 training day and 3 of those per week. That's my plan for the next few weeks. What do you think about reinforcing it with weights?! Thanks again for the advice, it's really motivating and the time frame seems realistic for me too.
Comes from continued practice. Keep it up .
😊. Thank you Kevin. 🙏🏻
