I watched this at the start and cameback right when he finished it. Pretty lucky to see the first WR of the cannon run. This involve so much RNG especially Maria (and Micolas, you will see it next time as he found out new strat for mico right after this run). Gonna be a good show of grinding but hopefully speedrunnees can figure it out how to consistently beat her with cannon.

out of curiosity where does the time save come from versus the non-cannon route? is it all bossing or do you gain time with route changes requiring fewer souls/materials as well? great vid and congrats on the wr!
I’m no expert, but I assume the time save comes from the way shorter boss fights (of which there are many) and worrying less about pellets and blood vials in case of damage during boss fights. He still grabs the level-ups and the weapon upgrades. All of it comes at a slight time loss of getting the whirligig saw (which you’re already passing by in the all bosses category) and the cannon.

Question...for Nicolash, wouldnt it be better to lock him on the second phase with the door trick? You know, where you interrupt his running and he cant get past you, he doesnt attack or anything there just keeps running.
He already got the new strat for micolas in the day this video goes live. If he get another consistent run and upload you will see it. For the second phase if you get lucky you can kill him like 20s faster than if you are unlucky. And the first phase was heavily optimized as well
What's the point of having a different category for each route? I thought categories were for different gameplay goals, like "any%", "all bosses", "all achievements", "all [x] collectibles", etc. If you're restricting the run in some way like glitchless, then add that to the title, sure, but it makes no sense to me to give what's simply the fastest route a specific name. It's a *speed* run. You're gonna use the fastest route you can. Idk, it just makes it take longer to find out what the actual fastest completion is. Dist's video title here is perfect to me.

This run is not optimized at all LOL This only happened after the discovery of the broken rapid fire infinite bullet glitch.

I’m no expert, but I assume the time save comes from the way shorter boss fights (of which there are many) and worrying less about pellets and blood vials in case of damage during boss fights. He still grabs the level-ups and the weapon upgrades. All of it comes at a slight time loss of getting the whirligig saw (which you’re already passing by in the all bosses category) and the cannon.
The route is slower to get the Whirlicannon, but the faster bosses kill time make up for it.

That could work. But maybe he gets blasted away too far, making you change direction which screws up the cannon glitch
