I was always told pioneers get the arrows. Well this is just another arrow, but think of how far you've gotten over the last couple of years. The delay won't be much in the grand scheme, and hopefully it will all be running before the spring! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well Forest! It's true what you said about pioneers and I was the one that actually requested the 15° tilt for the second plate, it came with both 10° and 15°. It never occurred to me that it might cause a starter clearance issue with the Jeep 4.0l starter.
Sad to see this development, but at least there is a solution. Getting material and just time with all the demand for parts has made it difficult across the board. Getting the other stuff done [now will just help on the other end, and bring out the unsean surprises that are going to pop up. Keep your head up.
Exactly Ted, I can focus on the getting the interior redone, all the wiring figured out and change/update a couple of other things that I haven't had time to do yet.
it will be interesting to see the starter location when you get the new plate. i have an extra aw4 ive been wanting the make an inch shorter, little to long for a wrangler.
I moved my TDI engine forward 6.5"s in my engine bay and my rear driveshaft is going to be around 24" inches I believe. If you are also doing a diesel swap, just put the engine where you have enough room for the transmission as well. It makes getting to the bellhousing bolts really easy that far forward in the engine bay!
I got the NW fab/TDI conversions adapter for a Toyota transmission. The quality is impressive, especially after hearing some horror stories of other brands. You will probably have to cut/grind clearance for the new starter location. in the bell housing.
Great to hear! I’m almost positive I’ll need to clearance the bell housing but I’m not worried about that.
its great you found a solution, but thats heartbrakiing... i wanted to keep my accessories in the same position, the power steering pulley hit my steering on my swap. Ended up moving the steering with a few extra steering knuckes and heim ends to support it. moving the steering was not as hard as i thought it would be
You selling the kubota adapter?? I have an xj project I am working on and might be interested. I have sit in a 2012 F150 ecoboost with 6r80 in it. I have the F150 transfer case in it but thought about keeping the np231.
And the input shaft??

Hey bud I'm doing a tdi swap on my 97 tj as well. I got a cbea tdi off of an audi. My tj is left side driver. Any chance that adapter plate that didn't work for u can work for me?
I honestly don't know anything about the cbea engines. I have another project I'll be doing later where I'll be able to use this adapter with a Left Hand Drive TJ.
That stinks. It's always something to go wrong or not work right
True but this was just a bit of miscommunication on my part. I didn't say this in the video but I specifically requested a 15° tilt plate, which is why the guy that made my adapter thought it would fit because I requested that tilt, I ended up going with 10° and never thought this would cause an issue. This is just another lesson learned.
