Fantastic easy to follow tutorial Amanda 🥰 I love the way you made your cover, and yes, we are human and make mistakes ❤️ thanks for sharing your creativity Hugs xx
Thank you so much for sharing this Amanda. I have just tried to make a journal cover this size to no avail. Now I know how to do it properly, so, hopefully, my next attempt will be better. You are a treasure! 😊 Can't thank you enough. ❤😘
Oh, my heart broke when you started punching the holes & I was hoping you'd realize the problem sooner. Those things happen to us all. Right now, I'm working on an album & had put the paper I wanted on the front & back, two different ones, with the prettier one on the front 7 a more sedate one on the back. I sewed in my signatures & put them in upside down so now my front is the back & back is the front. fortunately, I hadn't started decorating them & there wasn't a top & bottom. It will work fine, just not what I wanted. Thank you for this video. It was a very good review for me & I learned a few things too. Will have to see how you attach the signatures with the eyelets. I've never tried that. By the way, your laugh makes me smile.
My process is similar but your way is better! And I sure did pause the video when you got out the mitre tool. Lol I have it in my Amazon shopping cart now. That will be so handy for making better corners so thank you for that.
Best informative video I have seen for making these types of journal covers and I have watched a lot of videos. Thanks for sharing how you make these types of covers. I have added to my create list for when I finish up my Halloween and Christmas cards! PS I know this sounds weird but I am glad you made the mistake. It shows it is easy for everyone to make mistakes regardless of experience. Also, helps to remind us to take a break, step back, and reassess what we have done so far before proceeding. Something else that is important in regards to mistakes is it encourages us to be creative to fix them. For the extra hole on this one I would simply add a nice dangle or add a ribbon for a book mark. The recipient would think it was made that way and not a mistake at all!
Thank you Morgain and yes I always show my mistakes as to me its merely an opportunity to show you what not to do ha haha and that its not the end of the world most things can be fixed xx
I noticed that your bone folder leaves marks on the black cardstock. I haven't used black for a while because of the marks and I'm too cheap to spend $20 on a Teflon bone folder!!! I, too, can't talk and work at the same time. Cover directions were spot on except for that blasted extra hole!! Hope your vacay was fun and relaxing.
A great tutorial, so sad about mistake with holes. I’ve made journal covers very similarly but picked up very useful tips like using black 12” X 12” card stock, the way you glue and your beautiful corners. It certainly made a lovely base.
Great tutorial! I make my covers in a similar way but have learned some tricks that I will be trying next itme, thank you so much! Hope you do find a use for the cover, I'm sure you can find something to do with it! Thank you so much for sharing, take care x
It's funny, every time your head got into the camera, I found myself sitting up straighter and trying to look over your shoulder to see what you were doing, lol 🤣😂🤣 enjoyed the video, nice and easy to follow instructions, always a plus, and I think I need one of the those tools too, thanks!!
Thank you for a great video tutorial. For us newbies it is a big help. Everyone started somewhere, right? That extra hole I would make it a charm holder.
Hi Amanda! I started one of these covers from chipboard but my spine cracked (boo hoo). I’ll be covering it with fabric to disguise. But I was bummed to see that it cracked, as I’d used a poster board (not cardstock) to use to wrap the outside cover. That worked perfectly, by cutting the edges as you’d demonstrated. Oh well. I appreciate you showing how to make these from scratch. Gilly
I LOVED this, so useful. A shame about the extra hole, I would have thought it could have been disguised somehow. I need one of those corner things, I can't cut straight to save myself LOL. Thanks so much for sharing this 😊
I use 225 gsm this brand never lets me down I use Craft Uk brand.. I have another way to show you tomorrow which is great and guaranteed to never split x
Can you use one of the holes as a charm dangle run your elastic and tie in the middle so you can still use the cover just a thought But I love your process
Oh boy, I saw your mistake right away but you couldn’t hear me saying something was wrong. Darn. Maybe you can cut off one long side and still be able to use the cover for something else.😂😂😂
At 5:11 she starts to explain how she figures out the size (width) for the spine. Amanda, thanks for adding this video to this playlist.
You are most welcome xx
One for the ages! Thank you for explaining how far apart you make each of your signatures.
You are so welcome! X

Doesnt bother me as you cant really see it once decorated. I have seen top creators using teflon and it still leaves marks.. not a big deal x
Thanks Amanda Rey clear and learnt lots of tips xx

Thanks Amanda. You make it look to easy. 😉.I will look into that mitering tool. Hugs. ❤

The heavy duty hole punch is one of my main tools x
Thank you for a great video tutorial. For us newbies it is a big help. Everyone started somewhere, right? That extra hole I would make it a charm holder.
It could hold a charm but the holes weren’t lined up right with the other end .. not to worry at least I show what NOT to do ha ha ha xx

Nanda, what thickness card stock do you use. Just worried about splitting or cracking when you fold it over.

Ok tku Amanda x

Thanks babes x

But I love your process
I could have but they are not lined up correctly not to worry I have made another x
What size is your cardboard ?? Finally got tape, was sold out in most places in Canada , :)
I do mine around 8 1/2 x 6 inches.. the spine on this one is around 2 1/2" wide x
Thank you. I don’t know how to add the signatures with the elastics. Do you have a video? Thanks
I do somewhere on my channel yes, but I will be doing another video showing how very soon as thats what I am working on x
Thanks for the refresher. I have made a few chipboard journal covers, but I like to see how others do it so I can improve. ლ(╹◡╹ლ)
Yes it’s good to re visit things .. I now always use the fabric tape bethod xx
What weight of chip board do I need for this? Thanks
No set rule mine is about 2 -3 mm but you can use anything so long as it’s fairly sturdy xx
Oh boy, I saw your mistake right away but you couldn’t hear me saying something was wrong. Darn. Maybe you can cut off one long side and still be able to use the cover for something else.😂😂😂
Yeah I may cut it down but I made another already ha ha ha x
