I just watched this, and having watched a lot of his videos lately, I had to check when this was posted. He has really grown. I love his transformation
+MIgardener | Simple Organic Gardening & Sustainable Living thanks Luke! Yeah, a lot of the time and investments we put in are really paying off. Although your peach harvest was beautiful too, especially for how young the tree was. We should, that would be a lot of fun!
WOW you need to check out Tom Spellman, Dave Wilson Nursery, he does a whole series on backyard fruit growing. I retired, left the orchard to our daughter and son in law, just a few glimpses of your trees, get pruning, get pruning, get pruning. We have 38 acres in peaches, nectarines, and we don't use ladders to pick. Again get pruning.
Peaches! Wonderful when they are RIPE off the tree, unlike the green supermarket peaches. There are varieties that only need 400 hours chill time and they grow in Bakersfield, California.
Amazing peaches, James! Yesterday we enjoyed the first ripe peach ever from our Red Haven peach tree. I'm looking forward to our tree producing like yours someday.
+OneYardRevolution | Frugal & Sustainable Organic Gardening thanks Patrick!! That is so awesome. Definitely a good omen for the future if your getting some good fruit already. I'm sure they will, as long as Oscar is there to protect them
Down here in San Antonio Tx we have peach trees on semi-dwarf rootstock and they only need 200 chill hours. These like to bloom early so we have to watch the a late frost carefully
I started my food forest last year and i already have 31 fruit trees today. Can't wait to start picking fruit. My 5 in 1 apple tree is loaded with pre buds & my 4 in 1 cherry tree &. My red haven peach tree are all loaded.
Curl Free Peach and Frost Peach work really well on the Pacific Northwest Coast in Washington State! i never deal with peach leaf curl!! Thanks for your badass videos James!
Wow James! you done it succesefully, you love your garden,I'm happy with you,it,s what you love, you can make the world go geen. lappreciate you doing it.love it along with James.
I have never seen a mature peach tree like that, festooned with perfect peaches. Most people who put up videos on peaches have a tree which is within its first few years, or still in a bucket as such. The branches on that tree look really healthy and not a blemish on the fruit. Well done, you have mastered that art! Thanks for all the useful factual information, especially the idea of siting the tree. I have two pear trees and every year I explain to my neighbour that the lower one flowers first, but the second is delayed due to its site - but I would never have thought of exploiting that scenario in order to deliberately delay flowering. Excellent idea. I will be growing one peach (espalier - when it arrives) at the back of the greenhouse, but I have 3 supposedly resilient varieties for containers. I doubt I will be planting in the ground at this point - my area isn't ideal, so containers allow me some control. Great video and shows what can be done when you know what you are doing! Thanks, Vox.
I love your videos. You make me hungry each time I watch. Hungry to grow my own forest. Thanks for sharing James. The peaches look perfect for eating right now. Please keep an coming!
Thank you James! I'm planting a peach tree this year, and came to you first, knowing you'd have helpful info. I hope to grow beautiful peaches like yours! p.s. Have you noticed that many of the best fruits start with the letter P? Peaches, plums, pears, and persimmons (my favorite!) Based on your recommendation, I want to try paw paws too!
Maybe u still reading messages...i just purchased some peach trees bone is showing some drooping on the end point of the tree and in on shoot as well...watering every two days since they still in pots, the tree need to be transplanted but since is shooting fruits it is not good to do that now, i also put compost on the top of the pot...so what is going on...also noticed that some of the larger fruits have a brown spot on the surface of the fruit.. I really hope you can help. Fertilization is foliar with coffee water, other natural fertilizer such as bone meal, kelp, fish emulsion...once a week.
Hi James. You should’ve pruned that peach tree annually. That’s why you don’t have fruits on the lower part of the tree. This trend will continue. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Love this video, very informative. Temps at Hanover Virginia dropped to 24 degrees on March 28th and 29th. See efforts to save the 2022 crop at Karin and Larry at Home. Take care, Larry
Hi James, I know this is an old video, so you might not see this comment. I remember you mentioned on Kevin's podcast which nursery you buy your trees from but I can't seem to find the episode. Where do you get your trees? Love your energy and your super informative videos.

Don't you have squirrels down in South Jersey up here North they're everywhere
I just bought my first peach tree. It’s about 2 feet tall. I am going to grow it indoors with a grow light and prune it. I have tall ceilings so I can let it grow a little. I might actually bring it to my friends house when it gets bigger and plant it there. They said they wouldn’t mind having a peach tree, so that’s cool, I can always plant it there and go get my peaches 😊 🍑 Keep growing everyone!
@@jamesprigioni this was my question! We have a young peach tree but my concern was the pesticides etc. Our neighbors have an older fruiting tree but I know a problem they have is critters will crawl inside the peach. How can I prevent this should I leave it be. New sub.
James, you have been a real inspiration for me, I have been studying Jeff Lawtons free info on his website for some years now, Joel Salatin, John Kohler (Growing your greens), Jake Mace, David the Good, and "Plant Abundance" have all helped me on my journey, but some of your recent videos really hit home personally, I have just gotten my first order of wood chips, planted 12 fruit trees and am starting my food forest! Thanks James, keep doing what you do!
I’m so glad to hear that David. It’s great to be in the same group as the others you named, and it’s even greater that I got to be a part of moving you to action. It’s nice when people watch and enjoy the videos, but my goal is to get people out there and to get them growing. If they watch one of my videos and go out there and start growing, I don’t care if they never watch another one. As long as they keep growing, and not only food 😉 12 trees is a great start, you will be reaping rewards of your great investment. I’m excited for you my friend

Is it advisable to plant underneath a peach tree? As in planting carrots, or possibly flowers? I planted a peach tree recently and was thinking to plant carrots beneath it. Thanks
+Flaquis yeah that's a good idea. Just don't go crazy planting a lot under a very young tree so there isn't to much competition for water. As long as you have a mulch down you should be fine though. Carrots are good, and we use radishes cause they have the deep two root to loosen up the soil, and when you pick them or they rot, they turn into little work elevators to get deeper into the soil 😂
I realize this is a few years later but just moved into a house in Salt Lake City with a peach tree in the winter. It has just started to make fruit now. How do I figure out what kind of peach it is?
Yeah I have had that issue in the past, and with leaf curl. But the issues have reduced over the years as my soil has improved and my pruning techniques. James, 1st year bare root peach tree ordered from Raintree, having issues with leaves, I think a copper rust, not sure, some leaves are yellowing and dying but many leaves have rust like circles all over them. What do you do to combat this kind of infection? Do you spray your trees with anything other than Kaolin Clay?
Great video! Do chill hours need to match exactly with what the area gets? What could be the +/- factor for chill hours? I am getting black tips on my peach tree, what could be an issue? Leaves had red spots and eventually lost all of them. Thanks!

can i grow peach tree in hot weather? like 32c - 40c in day time and and around 18c at night.
Great video! Do chill hours need to match exactly with what the area gets? What could be the +/- factor for chill hours? I am getting black tips on my peach tree, what could be an issue? Leaves had red spots and eventually lost all of them. Thanks!
What nurseries do you recommend for bare root trees, and seeds? Thank you!
Hi I like you video on peaches but always wanted to know if you can grow a fuss peach tree from a seed or do you have to buy a tree to grow. Also I'm in Canada and wanted to know if yo get dwarf peach street and the time period it takes to bear fruit. Appreciate a positive response
