    Some of the information you're telling your viewers is misleading, and could further the mispractice of betta keeping (and fishkeeping in general)
    First, lake water will not cycle your tank instantly. You don't know what is in that water; there could be parasites, bad bacteria or other micro-organisms you don't want in your tank - especially since it is outdoors. The nitrifying bacteria that cycles aquariums does not colonize in the water column, but on hard surfaces. So adding in your fresh lake water will do little to nothing except potentially cause problems down the line. For future reference, instead of impulse-buying everything at once, cycle your tank fishless without lake water - or, take some seeded media from another aquarium because that will hold way more bacteria than water will. Since you seem a little uninformed about nitrifying bacteria, you're giving your viewers wrong information. As a large UA-camr, it should be your priority to provide proper care guidelines.
    The dial-a-treat is for treat purposes, not for a daily diet. Freeze-dried foods like what is in that provide little nutrition compared to their frozen/live alternatives - so it isn't really "good" for them, but they do like the occasional treat. Do nooot feed those treats on a daily basis, they are dehydrated and can easily cause bloat if you are not careful. I do recommend getting frozen bloodworms and other high-protein pellets. Varying your betta's diet is the best you can do.
    The 7-day feeders are known to be unreliable and will pollute your water over time. It is better to give them a good feeding before you go and let them go a week without food. Bettas can go a couple weeks without food, and though its not recommended, its better than potentially causing a cycle crash / ammonia spike while you are away and unable to do anything. If you're that concerned, get a friend to come over and feed them.
    Betta fish ARE known jumpers and are notorious for killing themselves because of it.
    The tank itself isn't great. Bettas are smart little fish and do need enrichment. He needs more than a leaf hammock and a moss ball. It's important to add more surface decorations for more resting places. Bettas love being at the surface and long-finned bettas need the extra resting spots because of their finnage.
    Hopefully you read this and take a step back to research a bit more before making videos where you have hundreds of thousands of people being influenced. There are already enough fish being mistreated, don't fuel the fire even more.

    You realise there's barely any bacteria kept in water right? You cant cycle a tank with mature water alone.
    Bacteria lives on surfaces like filter media, gravel, ornaments etc.
    To instantly cycle a tank you could add some mature filter media or gravel but not water.
    Maybe you added some liquid bacteria to speed the cycle process without mentioning.
    Cool Betta though bro.

      @@giuseppefisher3000 it's amazing how many people dont understand the nitrogen cycle.
      Chances are that the betta will just about be okay because they're surface air breathers and arent as vulnerable to poor water.

      ZeRo Phantasm I have one simple answer to your heater in the tank comment, no heater is needed..... if YOURE cold In the room you’re in then your betta fish is freezing.... if YOURE burning up in your room...... then we’ll your betta is probably hating life. I have had my 2 betta for almost a year with no heater or filter , the filter seemed to irritate and scare my betta fish ..... and he’s a brave little fish too. I clean the water regularly and often I stand by the tank and play with them, I believe as long as you don’t freeze the fish or over heat it ..... it will be fine.

    Betta care:
    2.5 minimum gallon
    Heater for 78 - 82 degree because they are tropical fish
    Plants and hides(they don’t enjoy bright lights) but they’re needed if you want a planted tank
    Food: bloodworms and brine shrimp from the frozen cubes are great or freeze dried.
    Now some recommendations for your fluval(I have the 5 gallon version). The intake will suck the bettas fins in so I recommend adding mesh to cover it up to avoid that problem. I unfortunately learned this the hard way. The output needs to be baffled due to bettas not being able to swim with a strong current(fluvals are powerful) so a prefilter sponge will help your little guy out.
    Oh and bettas ARE jumpers. They are constantly ended up outside of tanks in the betta Facebook groups if they don’t have a lid over the top. People will even train them to jump through hoops out of the water.
    Oh and those food blocks for 7 days can kill a fish real quick. They throw the tank cycle off and they’re horrible. Don’t recommend them at all.
    Hope that helps you or anyone that reads this and wants to get a betta.

      @victorplata817 5 років тому +5

      @@Timothy_Andrews, the beta fish live in rice patties and other small bodies of water. Small doesn't mean a 2.5 gallon bowl were talking couple thousand gallons for hundreds of bettas that have the rice plant as a great source of filtration. When the Dry season Rolls Around then they Get Traped in Small puddles. When you put a beta in a 1,2,3 gallon tank you are essentialy keeping them in the dry season condition. And if you don't have stuff for their mental stimulus they get bored and then stressed. A big thing that would help this tank(and betta) is substrate and more plants.

    • @jonathaniriqui
      @jonathaniriqui 5 років тому

      @@victorplata817 so your saying to put a betta in a thousand gallon tank? also bettas are mostly captive bred and dont know anything about the wild

    • @victorplata817
      @victorplata817 5 років тому +6

      @@jonathaniriqui no a ten gallon or a five even is a much better choice. True the bettas now have never known the wild but in truth do we. yet we all have a nice cosy house with the ability to go where ever we want. They don't have that choice, when you buy that fish his life is in your hands, just like a dog. You would let the dog outdoors for a walk or to run in the yard, it's mental stimulation and space to roam. So yes a 5 or 10 gallon would do well for a betta. You could even put some other critters in there with him if they get along.
      Just because you can live in your bedroom doesn't mean you want to. So think about what it's like for them

    1) he’s not rare 2) you didn’t properly acclimate him 3) you need hides in your tank 4) he needs a heater
    please do not buy a betta fish if you don’t do your research first.

    • @ljperry570
      @ljperry570 4 роки тому +3

      @TOXIC_ASF you still need to acclimate because the water parameters can be different, and temperature vary in homes. It still needs a heater. This guy knows nothing about fish
