We all go to the aquatic shop not intending to buy certain things lol. I always come back with something I didn't want. Still we love it so why not!! Looks an awesome build md.

I simply don't have much money, so I have to focus, and in 2 years of my hobby I have bought only one unnecessary thing - a feeder (I use a hand-to-mouth feeding method). My other 2 hobbies do not allow me to overspend. I am not envious guys, just make some videos and please let me look at your experiments with expensive things :-)
I genuinely think this is my favorite tank I've seen on your channel. Good choice to keep the wood out. Less is definitely more with this one.. AND THE RED ! IT'S GORGEOUS
@@jmanhach17 In my experience if it fits in their mouth they will eat it. Stomach size doesn't factor into it. I had a beta eat an amano shrimp....it wasn't full grown but it was certainly larger than a chili rasboras.
I'd suggest adding red root floaters to complete the all-red scape! You should do White Cloud Mountain Minnows, either the wild coloration (metallic brown-grey with red dorsal/tail fins to match the rocks and plants of the tank) or the albino coloration (whitish body to complement the betta and red dorsal/tail fins to match the plants). Either the longfin or normal fin variety should be fine, they should coexist depending on the temperament of the betta.
Glad you took the branches out. This fish needs softness. Wow, was wondering if you would ever just use just red plants. Love this. Wish you kept the substrate black.
Yes we've all been there 🙈 love when the rock just fits perfect together. He looks great in this scape. Some Ember tetras would work too. Casper would be a good name 👻
Literally lost my dumbo which was my first fish that got me started on my addiction of fish keeping the day before this video posted. Wholesome to see this thanks MD
Fun fact about jungle val!!! It only turns red like that when it's truly happy and high iron. I have seen jungle bag do this pond near me. When the weather starts to turn to summer all the Val does this and makes pond look red.
Definitely a good call on making the background black and only using red. The betta is standing out in the tank and makes it look all that more striking to look at.
I have white cloud minnows (regular, albino,, and longfin) with my betta and they coexist so well in a 10 gall. The colors they have would look amazing in your tank. I've had red fin tetras with him but they ate his fins and nearly killed him definitely keep that in mind
I've been dreaming of a tank just like this on the basis of making a small planed aquarium with a similar appeal to a small reef tank. This nails the look I had in my head, with light coloured substrate and hardscape, with as much red/pink/orange/purple plants as possible and around a 10,000k lighting temperature. And use it to start collecting some beautifully coloured shrimps vs any fish, but the Betta is a beauty and what I'd have picked for stock if not for the shrimp. I love the result!
Green Neon Tetras or Neon Green Rasboras (Green Kubotai)? I was thinking Green Kubotai would be a great contrast and It'd be pretty snazzy to have a tank with the typical plant/fish colors were swapped
I have a very calm plakat with norman's lampeye killifish. Their blue 'eyeshadow' really pops when it catches the light. The killifish are happy enough to breed, so that's nice.
Shiro is the perfect name for a Japanese fighting fish! It means “White” in Japanese and is also a popular name for men (and he is a male Beta!) Shiro is such a great name and it is 白 in Japanese Kanji 💝
Hi MD! You forgot the red root floaters!! As for tank mates, I would suggest small schooling fish like any breed of pencilfish or chili rasboras or ember tetras. Some corys would go great... maybe pigmy or Schwartz Cory. Cherry shrimp would probably look awesome.
One of my favorite scapes, love how the red plants contrast against the siriyu stone. The betta is absolutely majestic with those flowing fins and dumbo ears. Great choice to remove the wood, hardscape flows much better without it. Great job MD
WOW MD! I love your creations but this one is a new favorite. I love that you tried something different, stuck to your plan and created something so impactful very quickly. I hope you will continue to broaden your comfort zones and do things you wouldn't normally. This size tank for a Betta is awesome. I hope you get a few tan mates for him. Ghost is stunning and you've given him a tank that shows him off in the best possible way.
My favorite so far! Thanks for all the tutorials. I am planing a vintage 18 gallon tank for a betta. I have a 90 with conclude but they are a challenge with plants! They either uproot or bury them.
Really awesome setup! Very stunning aquascape. For tank mates, I suggest adding black neon tetras with the white betta, Its low key on black background so ghost will still be the main focus.
I really liked the rocks on their own. Sometimes less is more. It was a leap from what you normally do. You said at the beginning that it was going to be a minimalistic scale. I love what you do. Oh you’ve taken the sticks out 😂
some dwarf chain loaches might look really nice and not very common in home aquariums! lovely tank, one of my favorites so far, and a beautiful fish to top it off! wonderful!

Black neons could be great in with him, or maybe something like celestial pearl danios

Green Rasboras. Not only is green not found often in fresh water fish, but with the tank set up and the betta color they will pop.
