Most RS guides are basically: talk for 45 seconds about the mechanic, then do 1 kill without commentary, then talk again. Your approach of repeatedly breaking and getting back into cycle in different situations while counting ticks out loud makes this incredibly easy to follow.
i dont wanna say this but u are (were*, this is 7 months ago) just bad. u just dont do solos. anyone who took even 10 minutes out of their time to go mess around in baba with unlimited deaths will easily figure out how to set up red x from anywhere.
@@garrettbar2212 I always raid with learners and never complain about their lack of skill at all. But when ppl say stuff about how hard something is when I know they haven't put in ANY work to improve is what puts me off. You can be bad but don't say it's hard, it just takes time, like you said.
EDIT: If anybody else seems to be having trouble with consistency, something this guide doesn't mention (which I guess is taken for granted but I think is important to point out) is that you can't stand in the middle tile whilst attacking baba, as the shadow's AOE still reaches there. You have to be standing on a side tile. So many deaths thinking I was somehow counting ticks wrong, turns out the whole time I was just standing in the middle like an idiot 🤣 I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I can never seem to get it to work on p1/p2 melee (the 4 tick count). Are you waiting for the swipe, then starting the count on the next tick? It seems like you are, but when I do it, I always get hit after the red x. It always works perfectly on the shadow (5 tick count) where I also don't start counting until after the swipe. I'm doing it exactly the same just counting an extra tick so I'm struggling to understand why the 4 tick doesn't work for me
This guide actually helped a ton. My ability to get Baba into cycle improved almost immediately. Other guides are made by some great players, but their language is completely lost on a casual like me.
The first red x guide that actually made me understand and do it properly. Set it up perfectly first time after watching this vid. Keep making content you shall succeed
Honestly this type of red x is very OP. Easy to set up, easy to get back into ryhtm if you mess up and it doesn't require clicking any dropped items or the teleport crystal. All you have to really learn is getting your fingers used to shift click under baba followed by the ctrl click on baba. It doesn't take long at all to get long at all for your fingers to get used to it.
u dont need to shift click btw. u can click outside the boss range to run 2 tiles under, then ctrl click to red x. I find not shift clicking allows me to be more comfortable with the finger positioning making it easier to switch f keys.
Great video! I love that you go so in-depth on the tick system. I also learned about control-Lclick to specifically teleport to a tile. My mind is blown.
That's one of the reasons I wanna remake this video, I def ran out 1 cycle late in the example 😭 Cycle should be 1 - Same tick 2 - x 3 - x 4 - x 5 - Super drag or Run under Repeat Huge tip from Insane, if you run under a tick early instead of super dragging, you can set up same tick tank without moving the boss at all
- Stretched mode at like 82% - Low Detail Mode - Resource pack (one of the black ones, id have to check which one specifically) - Monster HP Percentages for Baba's HP, giant boss hp bar turned off in OSRS settings - Better XP Drops - Visual Metronome for my true tile indicator - NPC Indicators, color switched to grey with lower opacity, SW true tile highlight on - Prayer Reordering. i think its default? regardless, i used it to disable the prayers i never use - Entity Hider. definitely use the setting to make dead NPCs dissapear instantly, but i also have Thralls invisible these were just off the top of my head, if there are any more plugins u have questions on just lmk ^^
Great guide! I have usually been doing my raids with red x-ing a potion or the teleport crystal, this significantly improves this room. I have the 5:1 down for the most part now, however, i am wondering if it is possible to to the 5:1 for p3 since baba attacks faster. You didnt really mention it or show an example.
ive been using your video the past few hours while practicing this method. everything is going well/clicking, except i feel like im able to set the x on the slow shadow not at 5 ticks, but instead 4... 🤔
very nice, very clearly explained and well organized. I like how you explained why it works at the beginning and how you had lots of examples. Only think i'd like more detail on is dragging while in red x cycle. How many ticks do you have to move? Do i want to avoid having gap?
Might re-edit the video to include more detail on that yeah. For regular dragging, as long as you end up under baba at the right time in her cycle, you can move wherever you want. While in 6 tick attack cycle, you have 3 ticks after attacking where you can move anywhere before you need to run under Baba again. What I do personally, is run for 2 ticks in any direction, wait 1 tick for Baba to catch up to me, then continue the Red X cycle by shift clicking under Baba and control clicking back out Examples of this can be seen at 6:19 and 8:39
Shift click is to run under Baba without Red X attacking her. I never mentioned it in the video, but you'll want the setting in Menu Entry Swapper to have shift click run through enemies. Its not on by default, but most pvmers turn it on at some point. If you're on the official client, mobile, or just dont want that setting on, you can click past baba instead to run through her, its just more mouse movement required. Mentioned in another comment, control clicking is a default game setting that swaps your run click with a walk click (whichever you dont have enabled!). Since you have run on, control click makes you walk after Red X attacking Baba. This makes it so you dont just run back in front of Baba
From another comment -- Control click swaps between run and walk (whichever you aren't currently on). Because we're running under Baba with run on, control clicking on Baba walks us back out
Monster HP Percentage on the plugin hub -- add "Ba-ba" to the NPC Names list If you wanna just copy and paste the list of bosses I use it for, all of these have health-specific mechanics: Ba-ba, akkha, kephri, zebak, Elidinis' Warden, Tumeken's Warden, Nex, Callisto, Artio, Maiden of Sugadinti, Soteseg, Abyssal Sire, The Leviathan, Duke Sucellus
Made a quick video to respond to this - ua-cam.com/video/Wj2pq5fMeaQ/v-deo.html If you just keep Red X'ing like normal, you'll be 6 ticking Baba after the fifth hit. The reason you can 5 tick Baba while Red X'ing before that, is because the act of Red X'ing (running under then walking out) only wastes 2 ticks. When you're attacking Baba early in her attack cycle, those 2 ticks Red X'ing are wasted when your fang is still on cooldown in its 5 tick attack cycle. The reason we tank a Baba hit is to get back to the start of Baba's attack cycle so those 2 dead ticks occur while fang is on cooldown. If you were to just facetank Baba instead of stalling her attack cycle, she would attack 1 tick before you do, causing more tick loss. If you were to facetank 2 hits in a row, you would be back at the start of her attack cycle, and could have a 5:2 Red X cycle, but the reason we stall is to turn that into a 5:1
It's actually a great method of explaining something, he pauses at certain moments in his speech to put extra emphasis on it. You could have just clicked on the next video and said nothing, or at the least something useful or meaningful. You're the insufferable one in this situation..

Effortlessly setting up Red-X like 30 times in a row at 465 is crazy skill. Thanks for the guide!

Thanks for the video, this gave me the motivation to get my fang kit!
Damn. Imagine if you made an Olm solo guide with this commentary?
incredibly well done video
In your 5:1 example, aren't you missing a tick on your fang hit on the cycle before you run away?
If this is intentional, must it be done this way?
That's one of the reasons I wanna remake this video, I def ran out 1 cycle late in the example 😭 Cycle should be
1 - Same tick
2 - x
3 - x
4 - x
5 - Super drag or Run under
Repeat
Huge tip from Insane, if you run under a tick early instead of super dragging, you can set up same tick tank without moving the boss at all

How are your ground graphics simple? Gnomemonkey does the same thing and I can't figure it out. Far less clutter on the ground.
