Apologies for misgendering Grant Morrison! They're a nonbinary writer!
“When I see people online correcting others for using the ‘wrong’ pronouns in relation to me, I’ll admit I recoil.” - Grant Morrison
@_The_Log_ wish I could hahah your "correction" 😂
@@InReserveProductionsDo you think they'd appreciate you going to every single person who does with that copy-paste quote?

THEY, if there's none why are you citing many?
The man is so obscure that I thought that this video was going to be about Aquaman.
I thought it was Hardcase from Malibu Comics 😂
Me too but then realized that Aquaman is not forgotten. His movies are still fresh on alot of people's minds so blond dude in the thumbnail had to be someone else
@@redram6080plus he's a, major member imo
I like to think Triumph's arrogance and jerk attitude was a nod to how most Golden Age superheroes acted. Superman was crippling robber barons, Batman was killing people left and right, and Aquaman made jokes while drowning pirates. Triumph doesn't seem to bad when compared to all that.
I kinda like Triumph’s whole shtick of being this super powerful guy who has his heart misty in the right place, but has a really offputting personality, and is kind of a washed up “could-have been” and having to deal with that.
someone who could get all sour about everything, but is learning to make do with what he has and learn to try getting along with others better.
idk, has a nice bittersweet ring to it. There are a lot of “loveable asshole” heros who are seen as good because of their rough honesty, like a wolverine, but not nearly as many heros who have that as an actual obstacle that sours others to them and that they have to overcome.
I think its a really mature and interesting premise.
I love when the Justice League consists of a large gathering of people instead of a few specific group because we get to see characters who aren't very popular get to have their moment in the spotlight together. Even someone like Triumph deserves to be part of the League because he's as much a part of the DC world as the super icons like Superman and Batman.
That's why I like kiteman lol
Triumph, a character I haven't thought about since 2022
How tf did you think of triumph in 2022
@@abiodunsulaiman2297 I was researching obscure dc characters, like scratch, relative heroes, shadowpact, or the cliffhanger imprint
@@Nebulous8091 Shadowpact my beloved
@@yichlyichl4204 real planning on drawing Them and the pentacle at some point
@@Nebulous8091 Sometimes I feel like the Freedom Fighters are underrated, but then the Shadowpact at least makes them look like B-listers by comparison in terms of popularity...it's worrying that Karnevil is still possibly out there somewhere
When he and Sentry came out at nearly the same time, I thought maybe it was a revival of that old 'unofficial' xover between the companies, like each having expies of the others' main teams, and Rutland, Vermont's Halloween party.
I'll come out and say it, I like it when the Justice League isn't centered around Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. I can even do without the Flash and I can generally do without Hal Jordan. Guys like Martian Manhunter, Captain Atom, John Steward/Guy Gardner, Metamorpho or, yes, Triumph are totally capable as they've been established, just not as overexposed as the ones mentioned above. And tossing Batman into global or cosmic circumstances is always a stretch, as much as I like the guy.
Video: Talks about Triumph.
Me: Who is this guy?
He was almost like DC's version of Sentry where they were saying he was created before the Fantastic Four.
"Remember me?"
No?
I think about this guy a lot 😂 when me am my younger brother used to play fight I always made him be Truimph. While I was Shazam haha
Typical big brother behavior
@@BUSHIDO117 haha I always let them win though!
This character definitely gives me Sentry and Miracleman vibes.
The other heroes of metrópolis
This, I think that would be awesome
At first I thought he was Aquaman because of his look
"this is where triumph meets ray, who isnt gay yet, but will be in the 2000s"
oof, been there
Gay
@@Randy-MacDonald right thats what i said

@@Randy-MacDonald you... said the person who stated their comment was gay is gay? do you state obvious things often?
@@PoisonDartFiend Im saying your initial comment was gay….lol
I always think of this character as "proto-Sentry" since I remember reading about him back in the day long before I Sentry came out.
Triumph, the Sentry of DC? xD
Well Sentry’s already basically the Superman of Marvel so that doesn’t really work
@@BoldBatman900well there’s also Hyperion who is closer to Supes than Sentry
@@mat6732honestly after reading some of Thor and seeing how compassionate he can be
I swear that man is marvel Superman
Hyperion is the Superman of Marvel. His team, the Squadron Supreme has a character as a tribute for every Leaguer. Gladiator is another tribute to Superman. Sentry is really a matter manipulator
You did that "BEHOLD THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SUPERMAN--" voice bit a little too well
1:18 oh, so what the avengers also used to be decades ago lol
I was reading zero hour when he was introduced, but didn't much keep up with the character until his fall in JLA. That said, I think it's pretty stupid that he would lose his soul because SOMEBODY ELSE lit Neron's candle. In the Underworld Unleashed comics, the candles were only to contact Neron to negotiate the deal. Heck, there were some cases were somebody Neron didn't give the candle to lit it and made their own deal.
After watching this, I honestly want Truimph in the Harley Quinn cartoon universe via Kite Man cartoon. He would portray as a troubled but heroic individual who wants to join the Justice League. But after he finally found his true calling, he doesn't want to join the JL and moved on to greener pastures.
Sentry before Sentry
Underworld unleased always felt like an excuse to power up the DC Universe Villans in thecrun up to the DC vs Marvel event...
Hey it's the Original Sentry.
They should make a movie about this guy, bringing the team together and then disappearing and being forgotten.
Actually if given a chance they could make Triumph relatable given the source material and see what they can do with him while he is op that doesn’t mean he’s not perfect he has shown moments where he feels lost and unsure where his place is and I’m pretty sure some readers can understand that feeling
I thought this was going to be about Snapper Carr
Triumph kinda looks like Hardcase.
So that's who homelander is truly based on
I want batman's super power, unlimited money.
I thought that was Hardcase from the Ultraverse.
Triumph was interesting. Too bad he got ruined. Never liked Morrison’s justice league. It seemingly lactated onto other works, repeatedly, and always felt forced.
I think that Triumph would do well with taking some cues from anime/manga, in particular, Bakugo from My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia, Shoto from the same series, and Vegeta from the Dragon Ball franchise, namely, he learns to go from being a cursed person that is trying to become more than his a

e father, and equally cursed family line, to truly coming to grips with his past, and then not being defined by his past, and trying to truly overcome his past. Moreover, the version of him that came after the first disappearance should be retconned out of existence, though him having friends is a good idea. Triumph deserves better, to be honest.
#BringBackTheGayGhost
It's always a real treat when you drop a vid! Great work as always!
Triumph the Guy Gardner of superman looks.
Yo thank you for introduce this obscure character.
The reason Gyspy hasn't been canceled though it can be used as a slur it's also the name of a people as a member of a people originating in South Asia and traditionally having an itinerant way of life, living widely dispersed across Europe and North and South America and speaking a language (Romani) that is related to Hindi; a Romani person. From what I can find a proud people and doubt they want to be canceled...
I love your videos! Triumph was a character I knew of but JL Task Force wasn't a book I read. Oddly enough I picked Extreme Justice over Task Force but that's because it had Booster and Beetle.
In a way I feel bad for Triumph. I could easily see a writer these days pick up his story and really give him a heroic second life. But yeah, Morrison and reboots have all but made Triumph irrelevant.
But yeah, please keep up the good work with these in-depth videos. I get so excited when I see a new one.
I always felt like Triumph was simply a plot device the writer of the JLA came up with on a slow work day.The character was never interesting enough to hold my attention. He was bland, vague and pathetic.Only when he turned against the League out of jealousy was he even remotely noteworthy.
The world Needs a Triumph move and tv show.
03:24 Everybody seem to defend Batman.
Batman may be a fan favorite, but he doesn't have powers. People who claim he'd beat Superman "under the right circumstances" gravely underestimates the heat of a star, the massive weight of universe, movement that makes light speed seem like it's standing still, the ability to hear a bell on earth from the other end of the universe, how hard kryponite is to come by (unless you live in the uncannon valley of Smallville xD) amongs other things.
Batman is pretty cleaver and great at hop-scotch. Superman fly and tear trough planets like paper.
and can EASILY kill superman, according to superman.
I am kind of confused by that message at the end. Do you like Agent Liberty or not?
i like both for different reasons
The most famous run of the JLA BY FAR was written by Gardner Fox.
"the silver age flash" you mean THE Flash
He looks like hardcase from malibu comics ultraforce
I have all of Zero Hour. I knew I seen that character before. I thought it was Supreme or something
Pookie uploaded a new video yippeee!!!
Conduit (Kenny Braverman)
FYI Triumph was originally meant to be gay man. But Grant Morrison never got round to exploring that side of his character and the homophobia that had shaped him into the person he was... before being written out.
Source?
@_THE_LOG_ I can't remember where I originally read the article stating this. But I do know it in the trivia section on the DC fandom.
6:05 theres nothing wrong that dont put a fart noise
6:28 my famliy are slovakiana gypsys with fsmliy in romania, czech, and irlend and we call OURSELFS that. The problem isnt the name isnt yhat a white woman is useing the name
ahhh so it's not always derogatory, thanks for letting me know!
@@_THE_LOG_ your welcome, most don't know that
Tho I really hope the next time dc uses gypsy they retcon her to actually be one of us
6:15 actually Gypsy doesn't offend all Romani groups some embrace the name. It's like the term Pygmy in that some groups of the ethnicity are offended while others are not.
I've only read the knightquest tie in stuff for Justice League Task Force, and I love Bronze Tiger's place on the league, I'm thinking I should absolutely check out more of Taskforce
::Looks at Thumbnail:: I thought Marvel owned Ultraverse and Hardcase?
After suffering through the video, I see that DC ripped off the look of Hardcase. Some years later, Marvel retaliates by ripping off the story of Triumph...
Subbed for the Gay Ghost, I expect a 50 part documentary series about him
So DC stole Sentry.
He predates sentry but go off
Bro gonna say Ford copied BYD next
Sentry was made in 2000, Triumph was made 6 years before….in 1994
Amongst other things...(cough, Doom Patrol, cough, X-men, cough)
I’m the original batman
So, is the Gay Ghost what happened when the Gay Desperado eventually died? 😎
Complains the d.c. won't rename character cause their name is a slur. Uses that slur for the whole episode.
Actually feel pretty bad for him. Even when he does the right thing for the right reason, people kinda spit in his face
And when he finally had ahat he wanted, fate would just go "nope" and make him have no soul.
There's a difference between beinh hated because you're a dick, and being hated because the universe decided you should always be hated... and also you happen to be a dick sometimes.
And then some guy just decides he didn't have any redeeming qualities
Magog??
Trump Man?
I thought the model the the Justice league was Watchmen. or so I was told but what do I know.
I feel insulted that you compared the original Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee character The Sentry to this icicle mcnobody, The Sentry is the superman of the marvel universe for Pete’s sake! (joking obviously)
well considering that Triumph came out first and sentry is the 3rd Marvel's Superman pastiche i'd say it's a valid comparisson
@@vortechx7176 you know when I said that the sentry was created by Paul Jenkins and Jae lee and “the superman of the marvel universe” i also put joking obviously in brackets for a reason, I’m not trying to be rude or condescending but I highly recommend reading the original six issues of the sentry and hopefully you’ll see the true of what the sentry really is
@@ClydeEpic i have and they're really not as good as everyone says they are. the sentry is a character that is at best a plot device and is nothing special in terms of Marvel. if he had debuted in some stand-alone indie comic then he might have done well but everything about his debut in Marvel was a shitshow. not only did they retcon him into Marvel in a way that was like throwing a grenade into a fine China shop but they actually made fake comics to try and convince people that he had been around the entire time, and they did this in 2000 at a time when a majority of people had access to the internet. on top of that sentry always comes across as whiny and pathetic which in terms of Superman pastiches isn't new or original. the whole void as his darker half thing isn't anything we haven't seen before with Hulk or Adam Warlock. Triumph and Sentry are Similar in the fact that they don't work as Marvel or DC Characters and both Companies really need to stop push them into stories when there's not any stories left for either of them to tell.
@@vortechx7176 I mean that’s your opinion, the whole grenade In the China shop thing was kinda the point of the character, which goes back to why I like him and think he’s something more than just a Superman pastiche. It’s all in the details, Ask not fore whom the bell tolls, it tolls fore thee.
Snapper carr?
he wasn't the founder, but he certainly is a part of the Silver Age league
