    Thank you so much for posting this video! I made a tutu dress for my baby girl for her 1st birthday party by following your instructions. Your instructions were great, and the tip about wrapping the tulle around a pan to cut is solid gold! I wish I knew how to post a picture on here - I would share the dress. It turned out awesome. Thank you again!!! :)

    This video is great!! I want to make tutu dresses for all 4 of our nieces that are going to be our flower girls. I like the idea of making them because I can match the colors. I was feeling so overwhelmed before I saw this video. I didn't even know where to begin... now I know I can do all 4.

    Depends on the length you want for a 2 yr old i use about 4 or 5 tubes of tulle total. But obviously if you are using 3 different colors you would have to buy 6 tubes 2 each color to make sure you have enough fabric. I'm sure the dress you make will be beautiful! Im happy to help!

    You can purchase the crochet elastic at hobby lobby in spools (like ribbon comes on). I used a serger and sewed the ends together. If you do not have a serger, you can hand sew it too.

    One side of the flat surface should be the length of the tulle on your dress. Remember the crochet is 3 inches long so if u are making the dress for a 4 yr old which is 24 inches long from arm pit to ankle. You'll need to find cardboard that is one side 21 inches but the dress will shrink almost 2 inches as after the knot and the puffiness so you would cut tulle for 23 inches long .

Mostly red with some sparkly white strips in it probably I found some cool tulle with silver like dots on it. and im not sure how im making this dress completely so if I do a tutorial it will be on the second santa tutu dress I make!

    I tell people to measure from the armpit to ankle or desired length and the crochet headband stretches a lot it would probably fit up to 6 yrs old. I know you can buy some bigger headbands online.

    That seems nice! I usually like the ordinary tulle tutu but this one is extraordinary! :) Nice job.
    But I am not that crafty so I usually just buy the store-made ones.. the one from Energetiks Dance Wear is good!

  • @SandyBellTutieCutieTutus
    @SandyBellTutieCutieTutus  11 років тому

    The flower covers my 3 yr olds chest but honestly you could put something under it. One time I bought my daughter a top that had spaghetti straps I just cut the straps off. But you could just tuck it under. Or if you are good at sewing sew so satin fabric on the inside of the top.

  • @SandyBellTutieCutieTutus
    @SandyBellTutieCutieTutus  12 років тому

    Or u could maybe slip knot on some short peices of tulle to some elastic in little strips put the knotted side facing the neck so that the end of the tulle if facing towards the shoulder in like a fan shape ;) there are more different ways but I could type forever lol!

  • @SandyBellTutieCutieTutus

    You can also measure your chest and just use elastic instead of a headband and just slip knot strips onto the elastic

    @Snickerz you know how they measure fabric by the yard and they cut it. I had brought 4 yards of each color I was going to use

  • @SandyBellTutieCutieTutus
    @SandyBellTutieCutieTutus  12 років тому

    there are several different ways to do this. You could take 3 strips of tulle side by side to desired length of a shoulder strap sew on somekind of cute button to each side I have used flower buttons that are are bigger than the holes in the crochet headband. Put a botton each end of the tulle and just button on. Now for really ruffled look I would take some elastic and some tulle and sew some tulle on the elastic like scrunch the tulle up so its ruffled. And do the same button technique.

    1. Use good quality Nylon Tulle the Ribbon Retreat.com has good tulle and also Offray brand from Walmart. 2. Use good sharp scissors and cut straight clean cuts frayed edges make it seem like velcro lol. 3. After I make a tutu I like to put it on my lamp shade which I put back on the actual lamp and comb my fingers through each strip while spraying a mixture of fabric softener and water. I also like to rub some lotion on my hands no too much but some and comb my fingers through the tutu. ;)

    I would say measure the length from under her armpit to the pert of the leg you want the dress to fall to (or measure from the bottom of the arm hole to the bottom an existing dress that she already has so you know what length it will come to) then double the measurement as the tulle is folded in half

    Hello
    What I do on the Belle dress is braid very long strips of tulle loosely and glue or sew it down to the tulle draping it around the dress and then glue a flower in several diff areas on the braid and I have a video on how to to do straps ;) I will be honest its not the easiest dress in the world to do! being a perfectionist i like to take my time and make sure I drape the braid evenly around the dress! Thanks
