I just got done watching this series Britt has got to be one of the kindest , most amazing people I’ve ever seen ❤️❤️❤️. He’s street smart and knows what’s up , but is so patient & so respesctful of everyone he speaks to . He’s an amazing individual and deserves recognition for all he does . I’m sure he’s the kind of guy who wouldn’t want a fuss made over him and takes joy from seeing his people get better - I hope all his good karma treats him very well in this life
My husband and i were both addicted to opioids for 7 years we have booth been clean for 5 years. We finally had to hit rock bottom. We almost lost our kids that was when we made the decision it was time to get clean. 5 years sober and life is totally amazing. If you want it bad enough you can do it
This guy is truly an angel. I must admit in the past I’ve been somewhat judgmental towards people living on the streets but I truly see that these men and women deserve a chance just as much as any of us.
You are a good man, thank you for being out there an helping those people. It was someone just like you that helped me to go to detox an get the help I needed. It wasn't easy, that's for damn sure.. my issue was with other drugs, but I was going through the same kinda hell. I am four months shy of being clean n sober for two years now. Every day is still a battle for me, but I am still moving forward towards my goals of getting my own place. I hope Eric is still doing well, he looked so happy when he got his new smile. God bless an never give up on the street people..
Props to Eric!! He looks so much better. He's actually kinda cute. He's come so far from the first video I saw him in. I hope he's still doing good. It takes someone who really wants it to be able to get clean and still be in that neighborhood.

I was taken to Aria Torresdalds trauma center. I was so messed up my brother was standing next to my bed and didn't recognize me. After coming out of the coma I had to relearn everything and spent 3 months in the hospital and rehab hospital. I was prescribed oxys and morphine for years afterwards but nobody told me about withdrawal and tolerance. I lost my insurance and couldn't afford the doctors out of pocket. I used oxys til i got heroin and realized instead of 3 oxys 80 mg I could take 3 bags and it was $20 compared to $80 per pill. I ran the streets but was lucky I had people who still cared for me. One weekend I visited and my brother asked me for dope but I said no I don't have any on me . He laughed it off and gave me a hug. He said he would text me later but didn't. Left Philly 1960 with My Husband and two young sons. We lived between Eire and Allegheny Avenues. We went to California because of the winters. Worked downtown in a Bank. Sorry for the good people in Philly. The streets are well paved, but so much trash. We always swept our street. I remember Moms washing steps. As a Senior I know the drug problem is in every State. So sad for these young people. Thank you for reaching out to these souls.
My question though is who paid for it?? I’m all for him getting a come up and having self esteem but where does the money come from? I work everyday and have since I was 15 and my teeth are far from perfect because I grew up poor and my parents never took me to a dentist. Any work I get done cost’s me hundreds or dollars at a time. How can a “recovering” drug addict fresh into recovery with no job afford to have 26 teeth removed and have false teeth made? I don’t get it.
My heart aches for the people whose neighborhood was invaded by these addicts. I can't imagine the impact it us having on their quality of life as well as the affect on the young children. Their safety has to be in jeopardy traversing the encampments to go to school, store or visiting friends.
E K it actually isn’t that dangerous just disgusting to look at everyday, but these addicts aren’t attacking civilians, I’ve lived in philly most of my life. Most of us avoid this area just because it’s depressing to see people in this state. Nobody goes to Kensington unless they have to or want to get high.

Its funny how when you're an addict, you think you're sooo fucking smooth an on the downlow lol I used to do the same thing. Nodd out during covos an swear i was jus tired or sumthin.. You can try to fool others but you cant fool yourself.
@@shermsmoke right! I would be nodding my head up and down agreeing to whatever was being said and who knows what i'd say in return. I've had old friends say that i would start weird random ass conversations or off the wall answers to questions. One time i was eating lunch and i was talking about "putting it on the list" and "i'll add it later and calculate" and started talking about the sky and moon and everything between... Just a bunch of random shit that i'd string together. Mainly when i would take my prescribed benzo along with pain medication...in a damn silly stupor trying to keep up and act straight while attempting to participate in the conversations. So embarrassing lol oh well..it was what it was. I've been in recovery for a few yrs now and when i come across someone doing that i'm like oh jeeze here we go 👀 😳🙄🤔🙃😜
ummm....yeah. that's what happens when someone is high. that's what this whole video is about. but yet look, he doesn't miss a beat and keeps on pouring out that compassion and understanding and patience, allowing her to take what she can ... and that is incredible.
That's heroin addiction. I've worked on the front line of drug abuse and homelessness. It is totally possible to communicate with someone on heroin as long as they are awake! But trying to communicate with an alcoholic is so much harder.
Yes indeedy, that sweet man has the patience of a saint. It can be very frustrating/exhausting trying to conversate with people while they are in this state. You might as well talk to a brick wall sometimes or yell down an alley to hear your own echo holler back to you 🙄 because sometimes you don't get any feedback.. I've been in a situation like that in both ends.. Been in recovery 2 and a half yrs. The point of it is to try to keep an open mind and encourage feelings of hope, try to help heal any mental trauma and find solutions to succeed in a better healthy life. Even if it's just something small like lending an ear to them so they can open up and vent. Anything to try to make a positive impact. That man helping in the video is exactly where he needs to be, he has found his calling for sure and he shines. The people he comes in contact with and befriends are lucky to have him around because lots of people don't have anyone in thier life who cares like that on that level.💜😊
No window for a candle. For the lost in life, will never find, that flickering light through a window shine, no guiding light to help them home, lost in this world and all alone. It's so sad to see the young today, without a home or a place to stay. As if float upon an Endless Sea, no hope for land as they can see, no place to rest a weary head, an no one to miss them when they're dead. No window for a candle bright, and no light to guide them home at night, for no one to tuck them in their bed. as no greeting for the morning light, or not even someone to say goodnight. So what has happened to compassion in this world of today? Shalom!
I think the problem is some of these addicts have nothing to live for. (have good relationships with others to motivate them to keep on living) therefore they don’t wanna detox because they‘l still be dealing with the same emotional problems.
Pretty much. If you fail in enough important areas of life and especially as you get to middle age. Being high is a way to cope with lots of loss, no way of repairing the past, not much hope for an acceptable future.
I commend you on your effort to help those who are lost, especially those who seek help and stick to whichever programs render such help. It's good to know that someone is making a difference (like your outreach program is), without having to finger pointing anyone in particular....
Northern cali like redding and chico like the butte county area needs a needle exchange so bad, personally I a bunch of people I know have been using the same ones for months now, everybody is using really beat up needles and sharing needles. it's crazy, butte County California needs a needle exchange!!
And now in butte and tehama county you can't even grow weed, in cali the first state ti have all that!! Fucking pathetic!! We don't even have dispensaries, let alone people on the street screaming ziggs, diesal, etc. That's what kenso is like. We have homeless in cali but a lot are crazy, in philly a lot are just junkies
If your tough enough to survive Kensington then you for darn sure tough enough to survive medical detox! Mindset & perspective is key to achieve success others thought impossible. I hope you went for it! 💚
The place Kelly said she was offered housing by after 10 yrs is called Pathways to Housing. I used to work there. If anyone is in this situation & gets offered housing by them, TAKE IT. It's like a golden ticket, Pathways will take her to multiple places & let her choose her home, they have a medical team, Suboxone clinic, they set people up with EVERYTHING. Clothing, toiletries, cleaning products, benefits, food, laundry, i mean EVERYTHING. It sounds too good to be true, so people sometimes turn them down just because they don't believe it or think Pathways will make them follow crazy rules. They don't. If they tell you you're in, trust them. They will help you & you will have a home - a NICE one, too!
I have 22+ years drug free while I feel it's good that your trying to help but honestly they don't want help. My thing is when did drug addiction become a "cause", when I was using people ran away from me called me a no good good for nothing selfish junkie which I was, now people seem to be advocating drug use. No one came to my aid I helped myself on December 31, 1995 the day I decided that I'm sick & tired of being sick & tired & checked into a detox then I took the offer of going into LT treatment. I was an addict I used two things drugs & people I'd steal a persons sanity because I was insane I only wanted to do mone thing & that was to get high. The only time I reach to an actively using addict is when he/she reaches out to me to get him/her into treatment otherwise I have no reason to go to one of these encampments the last thing an active addict wants to be is told they need to go into treatment when they want to & are ready to go into treatment only then will I reach out to an actively using addict. Just to give you some advice you may you feel your helping them but in all honesty all your doing is enabling them. I do admire what you're doing though. Peace
These programs only work, if the people want help. My brother-in- law used to battle addiction, now he's embraced it. We lost him years ago. Prevention is the key! We DO have a crisis in our country!
This reminds me of a sunny day in West Virginia in 2013; my partner and I were hauling freight I think we were headed for Louisville. It was my first time in that state, it was beautiful, the green was overwhelming, mountains, rivers, streams, so vastly different from Inland California where I'm from. I remarked to my partner about this, the countryside and the picturesque towns and her response was simply that underneath all that was a drug disaster like nowhere else in America. Dope, crime, murder, death, addiction, desperation. "It may look pretty trust me it aint".....
Wow,these people have the power, love happy endings for people, and the guys and girls helping these people deserve a f$%#n medal, good luck to anyone trying to change themselves for the better,,you have the Power🙏😁😁👍👍👍❤👏👏

I’m not from this area but I used to go elementary school near Kensington. From what I remember this area wasn’t bad. I think because of all the gentrification and how the city is raising property value they are pushing people in this area so it’s really bad now. I was around this area the other day and for the first time witnessed what everyone was talking about. It’s kind of sad really. I’m glad people are out here helping!

She isn’t ever going to change. I respect you for trying and your patience with her. I would never be able to sit there and talk to her about succeeding in the future while she can barely talk and is nodding out. She is a lost cause, will die with a needle in her arm.
Steven Rathburn sorry you feel this way. I am sorry for whatever happened to you to feel this way about people. However I totally respect your opinion. And by the way, Kelly is doing awesome. She says hello!
I live in Elkins Park but my family lives in Northeast Philly in the 90's I wouldn't ever go in this neighborhood let alone touch these people, how do people get on drugs and live like this on the streets Philly is a mess
1:36 Those supply bags wind up as litter strewn across our neighborhood. If you're going to hand them out, it's your responsibility to make sure that stuff is properly disposed of after being used.
@@alexisk1659 Neither is expecting the surrounding neighborhoods to be okay with trash and dirty needles on their sidewalks. That's why those people were finally evicted from living under the bridges along Lehigh Ave.
If the addicts refuse help, refuse care, refuse detox, refuse shelter and refuse a second chance then they have to expect personal responsibility for being kicked out of encampments, getting arrested, and dealing with more chaos or yes, even death.

Good on him and he looks so much better I hope 🤞🏼 he will continue to make positive changes
He’s talking to her and she’s nodding out. She’s so high and I don’t think she understood anything he was saying.
She's totally out of it...not even able to listen. It's painful to watch
Yeah definitely high as a kite
Its funny how when you're an addict, you think you're sooo fucking smooth an on the downlow lol I used to do the same thing. Nodd out during covos an swear i was jus tired or sumthin.. You can try to fool others but you cant fool yourself.
And even gave her a nice pair if shades after the talk.
I've been in recovery for a few yrs now and when i come across someone doing that i'm like oh jeeze here we go 👀 😳🙄🤔🙃😜
It’s amazing to watch some help someone else.
This is what I define as Real Americans.
It can be done in so many different ways.
Im very happy to see all the lives your changing! Your platform is powerful keep up the good work.
90 days clean!! Omg .. the difference in just 90 days! I'm beyond proud of him!
This girl in the beginning of the video is straight up nodding out in mid conversation!! WTF??!!
ummm....yeah. that's what happens when someone is high. that's what this whole video is about. but yet look, he doesn't miss a beat and keeps on pouring out that compassion and understanding and patience, allowing her to take what she can ... and that is incredible.
You people are amazing because some people don't care and u all do always in my heart thank u for caring thank u
Shalom!
So inspirational. God Bless You!
I hope you still have strength
To carry on🙏🏻💕
Dude with the dreads looks completely different. I hope he stays up and keeps LIVIN
When Once a the new, sober, smiling Eric I was like, "daaaaaamn he's cute!"
Right? It sucks though BC he back out there still
you are fine Nico!
Great series
Eric you are amazing!!!!! Keep going you can do this,, wow so happy for you ❤️❤️❤️
BLESS, you....BRITT CARPENTER....truly, an ANGEL sent from HEAVEN....
One of the best books ive ever read. THE DAMAGE DONE.
Being high is a way to cope with lots of loss, no way of repairing the past, not much hope for an acceptable future.
ildiko ivanyi Well idk about that one. That’s a very negative outlook

Matthew Cerullo thank you so much!
Good work. Thank you.
I praise you !!!
Great episode!
God bless u for all u do
I have 22+ years drug free while I feel it's good that your trying to help but honestly they don't want help.
Ahh Eric ☺️ stay well please , you look great here
I can't believe how awesome Eric looks!!!!!!!! A++++++++++++++
@8:56 he look like Riff Raff (rapper)
Wow,these people have the power, love happy endings for people, and the guys and girls helping these people deserve a f$%#n medal, good luck to anyone trying to change themselves for the better,,you have the Power🙏😁😁👍👍👍❤👏👏
Eric looks great ! Hope he’s still well 🙂
Eric is like a boss right now....big ups bru
Eric Belfeild is at this moment homeless and on the streets around K&A With my mother both SO deep in heroin addiction that i can’t even get into it he has now lost his one leg due to sepsis and if anyone knows this man just know he will not last much longer
I'm so sorry to hear that, but not at all surprised.

Go Eric, being sober is soooo much better quality of life
some people run away from the storms and burning fires, Britt Carpenter runs headlong into it. Compassion is a gift
Ghosts thank you so much!
This man and is theam are awesome they help so many mans and womans
Godbless you all
Stan D thank you so much!!!
SHES SO HIGH SHE CANT EVEN STAND UP AND IM THE ONE IN PAIN OH THANK YOU FOR SHOWING HOW GOOD THEY HAVE IT AND THANKS FOR MAKING ME FEEL SO SMALLL AND INSIGNIFICATE
I love the passion bag idea.this needs to be done everywhere
It already feels like it's being done everywhere. Those bags wind up as litter.
She says hello!
my dawg aligning his shakra with that yoga book
you can tell someone's intelligence by how they speak. I think Eric is a pretty intelligent guy.

Hi my name is Patrick, I'm a addicted..
How inspiring!!!
I live in Elkins Park but my family lives in Northeast Philly in the 90's I wouldn't ever go in this neighborhood let alone touch these people, how do people get on drugs and live like this on the streets Philly is a mess
Please humble yourself it'll make you a completely better person...
Patricia Scott easy they start off having fun and it creeps up and takes over, been there done that

1:36 Those supply bags wind up as litter strewn across our neighborhood. If you're going to hand them out, it's your responsibility to make sure that stuff is properly disposed of after being used.
You Tube That’s not really feasible tho...
@@alexisk1659 Neither is expecting the surrounding neighborhoods to be okay with trash and dirty needles on their sidewalks. That's why those people were finally evicted from living under the bridges along Lehigh Ave.
God and government doesn’t care about its citizens. He’s such a caring, compassionate man who really cares about helping people.
The government produced this video.
One thing as an addict we talk some wild stuff at times. Lying to ourselves like it's whatever
If the addicts refuse help, refuse care, refuse detox, refuse shelter and refuse a second chance then they have to expect personal responsibility for being kicked out of encampments, getting arrested, and dealing with more chaos or yes, even death.
Dude looks a lot better hats off man.
YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. THEY KNOW PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THERE FOR THEM SO THEY KEEP DOING IT.
I’ve been flat out sober for 17 + years. I’m not trying to brag, just saying.
If I can do it anyone can

Wise words from that Michael guy.
