Busting up a heroin camp, with no arrests

- We have a heroin epidemic on our hands. And police can't arrest their way out of it. Here is the alternative.
What an eye-opening experience to ride along with Everett's 'Community Outreach and Enforcement Team'.
They're confronting users with compassion, and finding them treatment, instead of jail.

OK, since we keep getting repeated requests for the music in this video, it's from a music service we use called "First Com". It's a database for all kinds of licensed music tracks we pay to use. It's not commercially available. If you happen to have a First Com subscription, the name of the song is "Fluid Time Instrumental".

I started doing drugs since my teenage, got addicted to heroin. Spent my whole life fighting heroin addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Heroin addiction actually destroyed my life. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.
Amen God bless people. Save your health save your mind. Life is better without heroin, cocaine, alcohol and cigarettes. And you have more money in your pocket. God bless everyone who has rejected the devils intentions to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes etc which can cause so much damage to health.
Can you help me with the reliable source 🙏. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Germany. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them
YES very sure of Dr.benfungi. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
Congrats! I'm really happy for you that your wife decided to help you. I always admire those who beat their addiction. Knowing it's possible to fix your life knowing there's people out there that have done what I thought was impossible gives me hope I will make it through as well. Those who share their experiences don't know how much it helps when you're about to give up, it gives you the strength knowing somone who actully know what it's like to go through this tell you it's possible, it's not the same somone telling you you can do it when they have no idea what it's like, but hearing somone who knows what it's like that helps a lot since you understand it firsthand and made it out gives so much hope. so thanks for sharing.

Jen Lee you realize it hasn’t been legal in those states for ever right? Only for the last few years
Too bad. Fool
I was arrested for a roach. Hopefully marijuana will be legal everywhere soon and that should free up prison cells for violent criminals. The tax revenue from legal marijuana sales could be used for rehab of non-violent hard core drug users, they are still human beings and deserve another chance.
The hardest part of sobriety is leaving your past behind and having to live with the reality of responsibility and emotions you’ve never had to fully handle before. Drugs cure all of that, so to have to fight through the struggle with no crutch can be daunting and paralyzing, especially when all your “friends” are left at the doorstep while you take that front step into a new beginning. Life is a mixture of love and hate, and to assume it’s all sunshine and good and to blatantly misunderstand why people do what they do is complete willful ignorance.
Agreed. It helps to realize that human beings are meant to struggle. It's a natural healthy part of life that allows one to grow and achieve more

All nonviolent drug users should be sent to a federal rehab facility instead of jail.
"I'm on a waiting list. It's not as easy as they make it seem." That's the problem right there. We need more of that. More prevention, more therapy, more help. Less criminalization.
my thoughts exactly. incriminating these people are just going to send them to a downward spiral and make the drug consumption even worse.

Dang makes me tear up when I think about it. But I promise you momma if he were to get arrested he would probably get put on probation and have to be court ordered to go to a rehab facility. Arresting people in their "war on drugs" doesn't work. Period. Arrest the dealer maybe, but stop punishing the user.
@flagellaman400 1 At the end of the day, isn't it that persons choice if they want to destroy themselves as long as they aren't selling it to others?
You sound really stupid if you don’t punish the user they are gonna keep doing it and get addicted and plus they are the ones that went to the dealer you act like the dealer had them at gun point and made them buy drugs from him think with your head dude
@@justingomez9635 I'm just saying dude statistically arresting addicts doesn't help the addict or help with the war on drugs. If people want to use then let them use I say. If we really want to win this "war on drugs" then we need to stop focusing on arresting low level street offenders and going after much much bigger fish. Other countries like Canada and Switzerland are taking entirely new approaches that actually work for the user and law enforcement. Switzerland for example offers pharmaceutical grade heroin to users in clinics that they can use every day 3 times a day. It's cheap for the government and crime rates went down HUGE because the users didn't have to steal or commit crimes to fund their addiction. The American way always seems to be the hardest way. Why is that? Our public grade treatment facilities are a joke and under funded. The only ones who stand a chance to get sober are the lucky few who can afford high class detox treatment or have very good health insurance. I'm an addict. Trust me bro because I've been there. More money goes into law enforcement than it does treatment. It's all a recipe for failure.
The truth is, we are battling a war we've already lost. They can arrest and convict the biggest dealer in their area and there's always another dealer waiting to take his or her place. It's IMPOSSIBLE to take all the drugs off the streets, the drug cartels are in different countries and just have too much power. So in reality it's not a war at all. Kinda like I said, we can lessen it slightly, but we can never fully win the war. People getting high off their pain pills is abusing drugs. What are we supposed to do with the people who really are in pain? Tell them no and to deal with it? We can't do that. The more the DEA tightens down the more drugs slip through their fingers and just make street dealers a LOT more money. It's simple supply and demand. Tighten the prescription drug laws, people will turn to heroin because that's how more than 80% of heroin addicts started. Make the pills harder to get, the street dealers just raise the prices, crime rates will skyrocket, and only make the dealers and cartels richer. Wake up America. It's over. Look into the stats of what they're doing in Canada and Switzerland for example. Providing medical grade heroin to users 3X a day in safe sterile clinics. It's cheap, cost effective, and it WORKS.
I agree as long as they aren't recruiting other people to get addicted and are only harming themselves then that's their choice and they need to stop over crowding our jails and prisons for such minor offenses. In some states possession of ANY amount of marijuana is a felony. That's just ridiculous. Mostly southern states. Coincidence?
Iam so glad that someone is realy generous to help,Iam from South -Africa its a huge problem here,my youngest brother and oldest son was addicted to herion. They are clean for +-4years now

Usually I'm the one criticizing police but this time I'll give credit where it's due. This is what should be happening in this country instead of criminalization of drugs. As someone who has worked with addicts in a recovery program I can say from experience that most people who become addicted to drugs don't start using simply because it was something fun to do. 90% of them have a dark life story to tell full of traumatic experiences and mental health issues. Compassion is the best tool.
Why are you usually the one criticizing the police? Pleas elaborate
@@Artuor.Morgan I think he's referring to how the police don't usually take these kinds of approaches to help those in need. Instead of slapping cuffs on them and getting them in jail, they are wanting to give them the chance at living instead of being in such harsh conditions.
@@patrollingthemojavealmostm2698 In that case I agree. For some reason in the back of my head I thought he hated police because of “police brutality towards people of color” which is complete BS. But in the case of drug use and mental illness I agree police can do a lot better.

Right now I’m tryin to get off.... again. I’ve done it before and gone a long time before reaching out and messing around with the wrong person again and just can’t figure what the heck is makin me keep goin back when I know there ain’t nothing but misery in that place.. I got exactly one suboxen and it’s been about 18 hours since my actual high. Like 8 hours since my last hit. And not lookin forward to the next few days. Seeing all these people supporting folks who are struggling makes me really wanna change for the better.
They’re treating this drastically different than they did the crack epidemic.
leonard thompson yea they are. They tried to arrest and shakedown the crack epidemic. They saw that didn’t work. Plus they know junkies will do whatever it takes to get their fix so they figure education, compassion, and sympathy will help instead of punishment
Oh gosh, this “we will get you on a housing list” is just a cartoon for the cameras. These people want to be trespassing and get high. That is their goal. They always did have a chance to work and be healthy. They chose this. There was more violent crime associated with the crack epidemic. That’s the only big difference.
FACTS.... BLACKLIVESMATTER too🤨
@@777jones I feel like saying they chose this is a little dismissive, you don’t know what opportunities or chances they’ve had or the life they’ve lived
@@777jones Actually, there were not. Funny thing is though, I’m glad that people were locked up for it. They came out clean. If this is how they treat heroin addicts, then expect more overdoses and death.
Had a friend who passed away from this stuff at 30. He was such a good guy, and got clean and relapsed. Loved hanging out with him, I always tried to look past the drug use but I was always very firm with him. I used to say "I am not a baby sitter so if you OD I am gonna drag you onto the middle of the road and I hope someone pulls over for you". I didn't use any drugs so I didn't see why I should have to deal with the issues associated but in all honesty I would never have done that. I would have called an ambulance straight away. I just didn't want him to take too much.
It's really sad because essentially that is exactly how he died.
His "Junkie friends" took everything he had on him while he was ODing rather than call an ambulance. Now he is just a plaque on a wall.
Watching his mother try to put a sentence together at his funeral was gut wrenching.

My friend left my house for Baltimore to score, I went w him because I had a feeling something bad was going to happen - I drove. We picked up his guy that knew where the places were, every stop we made he was saying people weren't selling it was too hot w cops... My friend refused to take the L, we were at a gas station when he asked some randoms. His inhaler fell out and they took it, I told my friend he should be okay until we get back to my house and he can have one of my grandma's he didn't listen. He ran out of the car, I told him what am I supposed to do... He said leave then. Some guys at the gas station were asking how much I was, and surrounding my car so I left that area for a second and couldn't find him again, but I knew I couldn't leave. . He called me he was completely fucked up. He was telling me he had been stabbed and was feeling blood down his leg. I drove around from midnight till 330am and luckily pulled up on a corner store And I saw my friend through the window. I got him in my car he was so relieved. I couldn't keep him awake the whole ride home, takes about an hour, once we reached my house he was unresponsive. I told my dad and he tried getting his limp lifeless body out of the car and called 911 (my dad's a volunteer firefighter) I didn't know if he'd survive or if it would even matter to him... He's sober now. He has at least 2 kids and we're still friends

I know younger generations are more understanding of how addiction works, & that most wish they could turn back time and never touch the stuff. Portugal is an world wide example on how they manage this situations. It is not legal to sell drugs in Portugal but its not Ilegal to be a drug addict. Instead the gov build several local teams to go and suppor these guys, providing clean needles and psicologic support to try to get them off drugs (guess what? none of those members are police officers). My little sister is heroin addict for the last 10 plus years. Prior was pills until she couldn’t afford them. She is now homeless and living on the streets under I10. She refuses to get clean even after three times overdosing. She lost her two daughters because of her drug addiction. Third child was adopted at birth.
