Wow, this is great. Music with chords appear on the screen for us to follow and we can practise with the lovely backing tracks of moderate and fast tempi. Your arrangement is brilliant. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you appreciate the work; you summed it up perfectly! Please do share with any musicians whom you think would find it useful :)
Thank you so much, I just bought 5 of your albums from your Website. The slow and fast performance + the slow and fast backing tracks are excellent!!! Just what I was looking for!!! I love Irish folk violin music, even if I live in Canada... :)
That's wonderful to hear! I am so glad you are enjoying the backing tracks. Irish music is wonderful isn't it? I also do enjoy quite a few French-Canadian tunes; perhaps I will be able to make some videos for those as well in future. :)
@@CharlesHarrisonMusic This is true :) the composer of this particular tune had Irish roots! Can't wait to see/ear your work for "La Bastringue". Best wishes to you!

I really dig the fiddle part at the beginning, it's a beautiful start (before you even go into what is printed on the sheet music). Would you be willing to share what notes you're playing? I think I may about have it figured out correctly, but I'm not 100 percent. Thank you!
Thank you so much! This was an improvised solo; some pentatonic noodling. If you can play an Em pentatonic scale then that will give you almost all the right notes straight away (and is often a decent place to start for soloing). I start on the E, down to the D, up to the G (back to E then back to G), A, B and D. Then E, D, A B - G F# E and a final D to finish with the chord change before it begins. Does that make sense haha? Can you follow that? 🙂
@@CharlesHarrisonMusic you're the best! It makes me so happy..I have it so much better now! Did you happen to sneak in a slow turn on the last E? I'm so addicted to turns since I learned them from you that I could just be hearing them in my daydreams, lol 😆
@@kayli7975 Haha yes most likely is a turn in there! I do like to add them 🙂 They really are a fantastic way of adding a bit of traditional flavour to your playing 😊😊 Glad it's going well!
Hi Charles, do you like inverted turns as well? I was reading up on some Irish fiddle ornamentation and ran into the term. I hope I understood the definition right...if you were playing E in a melody, than an inverted turn would go EDEFE. Does that sound right? You just seem pretty knowledgeable on theory, so I thought I'd ask 🙂 Thanks!
Hey! Yes I do like them as well. To be honest, in practice they don’t sound a whole lot different to a regular turn, as it’s more for effect. But you can use the option of either to your advantage by playing the one that is most comfortable on your instrument. I would point out two things however: Firstly, a regular turn can give a melody a slightly more uplifting feel (as it “rises”) versus an inverted turn which might make a track feel subtly more somber (because it’s resolving from the 2nd or minor 2nd). Secondly, on a more practical note, if you are playing in unison with other players it will sound better if you are both playing the same type of turns, otherwise you can get very dissonant clashes - even if it is only for a brief moment!
Hey there, thanks so much! Check out the link at the top of the description. I have put the backing tracks on my website so that you can listen to them for free. You also have an option to purchase your own copy if needed. Hope that helps; do let me know how it goes :)

@@CharlesHarrisonMusic "La Bastringue" would be fun, that's about the only one I like a lot!...
@Jo Charest Ah yes that is one I know! I always thought it had a little bit of "Irish-ness" in the B section haha :) I shall add it to the list!
