- These treasures were thankfully saved from being trashed. Cheryl Conroy Warren took a painting that her dad found in the dumpster to Antiques Roadshow and found out it could be worth up to $15,000. Max Brown also found something valuable while dumpster diving in Nevada: books that came from the personal library of Thomas Jefferson. Plus, one waste management facility in New York is really good at finding lost jewelry. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

Most religious ppl want a dictatorship where they cancel everything except their book of fairytales so alot of valuable stuff gets destroyed by them. That dress was prolly hidden cuz they think there can only be 1 magical space wizard Lol

@@dreadmez nah he didn't really, he did receive a fair payment, because restoration of antique books cost a LOT of money which he didn't have and which the auction house will have to add up to the total cost of those books before making a profit with them.
I hope they gave reward to those people who rummaged through the garbage to find their rings.

Honestly, I feel like the guy who sold a series of books written by *Thomas Jefferson* and only got $8,000 got scammed. Yeah they were in poor condition, but they were over _300-YEARS-OLD._ You can't expect books that old to be in pristine condition.
Edit: the books weren't written by Thomas Jefferson, but that still wouldn't negate the price

Sometimes it’s not even about the money but the historical value of it all which we can then piece together and understand our history a bit more

As a jewelry salesperson I wear 8 rings on my hands on the daily... I also keep this nifty little device next to my sink called a ring holder... they cost $5-$10. Nuf said.
And then theres dollar tree ring holders for 1.00
Or you can just put them in your bra like I do.
And keep that ring holder across the room so if it gets knocked over they aren't going down the drain.
I’ve thrown my rings away several times…fortunately they never left the yard …. So now I wear a $25 ring from Amazon for peace of mind and have never lost it!

There's a lesson to be learned here folks. Don't spend so much money on things like wedding bands so if you end up losing them you're not out several thousand dollars

I use a simple silver band as my wedding ring for that reason (I am one of those careless idiots tho)

The last one about the wedding bands gave me chills. A few months ago my mother somehow noticed that her wedding band (with a similarly sized diamond and lots of diamond chips) was missing from her hand. She figured it fell off somewhere and that someone "had a really good day." :-(

It’s amazing what people Toss ! While my find isn’t as much as this I found an original Barbie from 1961 (yes I know it’s not the 1st Barbie) for 3 dollars ! She was tossed in a pile of cheap modern Barbies . I almost passed out when I saw her little face sticking out lol

This is what I think in my mind while throwing away old stuff
Every single one of those employees deserve a big fat bonus of at least $1000 each. Because to me they didn't just save a few rings, no the y saved precious and irreplaceable pieces of memories of love for these women.
Out of the 3 women that lost their rings. I feel the first 2 wanted their rings more for sentimental value than the cost.
Beyond astounding! That second worker who found the first woman's ring is an angel!

My aunt hid diamond earrings behind bathroom tiles, and didn't tell my mother, when she was getting ready to redo the bathroom. The earrings ended up lost for good. If anyone finds, or found them, great find.
My step Great Great Grandmother was a semi famous artist from france and she found a clay vase in the shape of an owl with Picasso's offical stamp on the bottom in the dumpster of an art studio. The piece is still in the family to this day.
If it was in an art studio dumpster then it was probably a fake…

Lucky ladies. My rings disappeared 2 years ago. I think they too ended up in a tiny side trash next to the couch but it was to late to try and retrieve them. We looked for months. My husband bought me a new beautiful upgraded set as my 17th anniversary gift.
I think trash lands should be more organized if anyone accidentally threw out their valuables in the trash

I will say I was a store manager for Goodwill for a while and I highly recommend to always check the pockets of anything to purses, suitcases, and clothes when you shop. You’ll sometimes find some treasures.

A friend of my father's once bought a load of what he thought was costume jewellery for about £10 and found a diamond and platinum ring in it - I think it was worth over £4k

I saw that dress years ago when it was on display in Vegas. It was made from VERY thin fabric. Back then, many of the dresses were made like that. It was small, too. She was a small size.

I work at a denny's and God bless our general manager....an eldery woman left her dentures wrapped up in a napkin and our GM want dumpster diving for them and found them for her. She was in tears, but I'll never forget how awful the woman's son and husband were to her. It made us more determined to find them for her

My rings were tossed once. A friend had them cleaned and we put them on the TV still wrapped in the tissue. The housekeeper tossed them. But we realized it before the trash was picked up and got out of the cans before the truck got there.
