And all thought you had to worry about in Chicago was getting murdered. Great video!!! I loved the radar at the end. Gives the viewer the gauge of the size and severity.
when did this storm become severe? when did the large hail begin when did the winds increase to 58 mph? was this storm tornado warned? is this an intense thunderstorm with heavy rain ? yes. was it a severe thunderstorm ? no not by a long shot. there's a big difference between an intense thunderstorm ,like this and a severe thunderstorm a BIG difference
How true. If I had the means, I would move either there, or to Minneanapolis, where storms are a lot less hit and miss, and often stronger. Here in NJ, storms like this one do occur, but are more scattered.
at what point did this particular storm become severe? at what point did it begin to drop hail one inch in diameter? at what point did the winds in this storm increase to severe levels 58 mph or greater? what is shown is a moderate thunderstorm which is in no way severe. i won't even mention the third criteria for a thunderstorm to be classified as severe , since this one never approached the level of. severe in the first two criteria mentioned i don't care if you believe me or not. look up the definition of what the NWS defines as a severe thunderstorm for yourself. frequent lightning, or moderate rain are not criteria for a severe thunderstorms STRONG STRAIGHT LINE WINDS, 58MPH OR GREATER ARE. LARGE HAIL ONE INCH IN DIAMETER OR GREATER ARE. OR IF THE STORM IS PRODUCING A TORNADO,,, OR HAS A HISTORY OF TORNADIC ACTIVITY, ARE THE CRITERIA USED TO CLASSIFY A THUNDERSTORM AS SEVERE . if the storm is capable of causing personal injury to live stock or people or is capable of causing tree or property damage, THEN that particular storm is severe.
this thunderstorm is NOT severe in any way. did it have strong straight line wind blowing at 58 mph or greater? did it it have large hail 1in in diameter or greater was it tornadic did it have a history way of being tornadic? no? then let's identify this storm for what it was ----- a moderate thunderstorm. " but it had rain and thunder and lightning in it" ALL thunderstorms produce rain, some times heavy rain all thunderstorms produce lightning and thunder. that's why they're called thunderstorms
@@dancingkitty11 what doppler radar shows and what was on you clip are obviously two different sections of this storm . what MAY HAVE OCCURRED IN CHICAGO was plainly NOT what your film shows what you show outside your window is a moderate thunderstorm. at NO point in the time it took to pass over your head did this storm EVER become severe. i suggest you look up the national weather service definition of what a severe thunderstorm is, and the criteria used to classify a thunderstorm as severe . why do you think NO ONE has ANY confidence in doppler radar -only issued warnings? the reason: nine times out of ten, the warning is a FALSE ALARM. and yet they wonder why NO ONE pays any attention to such a warning . you tell me: just how many times can you cry WOLF before people start ignoring you? THAT my dear is the radar system the national weather service has in place at the present time. a system with a 90% FAILURE RATE. THAT'S why they place weather spotters out when the the weather is expected to turn severe
@@williammoses6232 Talk all you want', but the NWS warned it. Second, This isn't my film, The guy who's film it was labeled it correctly. You're wrong about his label. Argue with the meteorologist at the NWS that's that. oh yeah, i am one of those spotters!
The worst time in my opinion for a thunderstorm to happen I don’t get scared by them when I’m asleep they wake me up and make me want to watch
Great video, stangely soothing. Wish we got bonkers storms here in the UK
And all thought you had to worry about in Chicago was getting murdered. Great video!!! I loved the radar at the end. Gives the viewer the gauge of the size and severity.
Don’t know why but watching stuff like this all was makes me sleepy 💤
Looks like a hurricane out there; hurricanes, though, do not usually have lightning and thunder. Reminds me of Hurricane Bob (1991).
EXCELLENT VID, the thunder was awesome, and the lightning was impressive. Excellent work, keep it up
Wow, what a soaking! Really nice catch, thanks!
I LOVE all of your videos!!!!
Be safe out there y'all
Tell me, why are you filming those streetlights?? The lightning are usually up in the sky :) :)

Sir i also doing a work of weather in my channel
@XxUpliftingTranc3xX Some thunderstorms I can deal with, but if there is a Tornado Warning involved I might be worried, not scared.
@archiepops TheGeneral54321 is correct, Chicago gets alot of storms in the spring and summer, Mostly in the summer.

@ archiepops
We get them alot in the spring and summer
what kind of camera are you using to video this? I wish my low light clips would come out crisp like in the video. I would have a lot of focus issues.
@SlimeDude1616 Cool, what area?
why did the sirens go off it was just a thunder storm there are no tornados or hurricaines!
Did you see the 2 red eyes

It is obvious you missed the end of the video, the part where it showed the NWS for the Chicago region Called it Severe. at 15:00 into the tape.
