Right now we're experiencing only a tiny storm in comparison to this over in Boise, Idaho. It turns out that my dad lived in Chicago when he was a small boy and he told me about the thunderstorms he watched. This is just an amazing video!
I live 3 hours from Chicago and we get storms just as intense as this one, but they don't compare to the storms I've been through in Oklahoma and Kansas
Great video of Chicago rainstorm. I commend you in your steadfastness for capturing such authentic scenes. We're having a drought where I am and I lost some tress due to the dry weather; so I thought like attracts like and found your video. Thanks for sharing.
22:07 "Everything has calmed down..." BOOM! That is just bad luck! If that were me I would have run for the hills. We got a similar storm to this last year where I live. It was so bad that I didn't want to be alone.
I really miss this kind of storm, now all we have is just light rain, it ain't boring but damn it's more relaxing if we still have this kind of Thunderstorm.
Looks like a hurricane; unlike a hurricane, however, this storm has lightning and thunder with it. Hurricanes usually have very strong winds for hours.
Being born and raised along the California Coast, have never experienced anything close to this. Maybe, once every 5-10 years San Francisco will see a thunderstorm, that is more than one or two flashes of lightning..LOL
We had this same strong line of T-storms up in T.C., Michigan...awesome ..crazy lightening up here too...At one time we had blue sometimes green lighting..freakin nutts ...best storm of the summer.
man chicago gets crazy thunderstorms from late spring to early fall cause of where the city is located in the midwest, chicago gets hot n humid n real cold in the winter, it must b the great lake chicago is near that influences there weather a lot, like here in boston the ocean effects our weather a lot too depending on if the wind is blowing in from the water or offshore towards the water.
Cool! We get about one clap of thunder a year in San Francisco. I wish we got great storms like this. Heck, at this point in the drought I'd take rain any way it came.
The first half was awesome with the skyline and the awesome lighting but the second half all you could see was mostly a dark tree and very little skyline.
The lightning that you said was 2 miles away was not 2 miles away. It was a lot closer. It might’ve been at least half a mile or lessThe lightning that you said was 2 miles away was not 2 miles away. It was a lot closer. It might’ve been at least half a mile or less..
Chicago resident here. I've enjoyed watching your video several times - and especially appreciate its length. Thanks for sharing your video work!
This is my all time favorite storm video! Thank you!
I love your commentaries! Just speak! I want you to know how much I enjoyed it. I keep coming back to this video, because it's so amazing!
I remember this storm. I was living in Evanston at the time and my basement flooded pretty badly. Great video!

After I played your video we had rain, lightning and thunder all night; I guess my theory worked.
The only reason i'm watching this is because; I live in Chicago, and there is a Tornado Watch for Cook County. lol
Thunder sounds like a bomb
--or a gunshot.

At 14:19 there is another bolt. However, you have to look very closely since it lasts for a quarter of a second.
