This is the BEST recorded thunderstorm on the internet! I love thunderstorms but don't get them very often where I live. Thank you so much for uploading this!
Bravo. Not only an awesome storm but the most impressive part for me was your composer on not feeling the need to do commentary. You just let the storm do all the talking so we could just enjoy. A million thank you’s!
I haven't heard thunder in over a year. I love the growl of the thunder, and how the rain suddenly picks up at 6:56. Just when you think it can't possibly rain any harder, it does. Thanks for posting this!
Most intense and active thunderstorm I ever saw with my own eyes was on July 3rd 2001 which was producing in excess of 80 lightning strikes per minute and dropped nearly 2 inches of rain in two hours but this storm you recorded here tops it and then some. Hugely impressive.
I would have loved to have watched this storm in real life as when I was a kid I was petrified of thunderstorms, I forced myself to overcome my phobia of thunderstorms, beaten my phobia, now I adore thunderstorms. Greetings from the UK ;) Be safe everyone ;)

That was an amazing storm. I've saved it to my playlist that I put on to read to or just to relax to on flare up days for my medical condition. Thank you for mostly letting the storm speak for itself
Thank you for recording this I was trying to describe this storm last night to my wife who slept through it....best description I came up with is Nature had a rave
There are so many thunderstorm videos out here on UA-cam, and most of them suck... but not this one, this footage is amazing, thank you for posting this!!! ⚡⚡⚡
My only criterion for a "Like" for a storm video is if there was lightning in the first 10 seconds. This one doesn't disappoint! I think there was lightning in the first second! One of the best storm vids I've ever seen -- definitely saving this one!
I like videos mainly if they're interesting. I personally am a fan of videos where the video consists of the storm at a distance, what the storm structure looks like, and then the storm getting closer and eventually hitting. That's just me though.
One of the best thunder n lightning storm's we ever had was also on July 4th.. It was out of control!! I live in Oregon, so it was a bit unusual. I believe it was in the late 80s.. Fun stuff! Great video!! Thank you. ⚡🤗⛈️ The storm that keeps on giving..🤗

Where I live in the South, a storm like this would not just be lightning and heavy rain...it would likely have a twister embedded in it! Awesome storm!!

Thank you for that Extremely Intense, Scary, & Beautiful light show! So damn cool, as long as I'm inside. I haven't seen a good electrical storm since I left Michigan, many years ago. What I wouldn't give to see a Bad Ass Storm like this, even if it only lasted 15min. Thanks Again for the Gnarly video!
@Lisabeth Frits Ohhhhh, do I HEAR you!!! I've seen a few humdinger storms during my 17 years living in the Twin Cities, but they're few and far between and seem to last only a few minutes. Once the camera's set up to film the storms, they've already passed!! Other parts of MN get much better storms. I always say other parts of MN get the chocolate cake while the Twin Cities gets the crumbs!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello Jack thanks for this stunning video. I'm from Holland, and i never have seen this heavy thunderstorm. I look to this video in a dark room, and my screen almost on black with my headphone and sunglasses, volume on 10. I can't remember the last time we has a heavy thunderstorm like this. The only think i remember was, if i stand for the window, i take a step backwards, i think four times in this heavy storm.😉 Greetings of Klaas Vos.
This may sound strange to some, but I really miss these types of storms!! I/we grew up in Wisconsin and watched thunderstorms like this all night...lighting up the sky over corn fields as far a you could see.
Nice lightning. Spent a few summers in Northern Illinois and remember the storms there. Being from New England I remember how the thunder was much quieter and didn't roll like in the hills. The exception being when it was cracking right on top of you.
I was flying into Orlando, FL on July 5th, 2022 and probably saw this same system. I remember how there were severe thunderstorm warnings all across the route. They were all to the West of my flight and all I could see out of my window were CBs and convective clouds. Very interesting experience
I had a storm this bad once. Was about two years ago. The wind was almost as scary as the lightning but we didn’t end up getting a ton of rain. Was by far the best light show I’ve ever seen though.
Wow, natures fireworks at their finest. That storm sure was electrified, that lightning was continous. I'm surprised that it didn't have a tornado in it.
The best and most powerful severe thunderstorm that I've ever seen was on September 16th of 2010 here in NJ where I live. I was still in high school and just got home prior to the storm striking. It was a ridiculously strong storm system that moved in and headed east into NYC. In both Brooklyn and Queens two separate tornadoes were reported. Two people were killed by the storm. One was a man who died when a large tree crashed into his home and the other was a lady who was driving and was killed when another tree landed on her vehicle.
I instantly recognized the date you mentioned, and although I'm here in Atlanta, Georgia, I remember that day very well. We heard about that weather on The Weather Channel, and I'm sure it was all over the talk radio stations around there, too. Wasn't it a daddy of a series of storms!
@Jack Langefeld, Now that's what you have a great lightning & thunder show, me n my brother would sit on the front porch n just watch the lightning come down and hearing the loud thunder!! I know it's kinda risky by sitting on the porch, but we enjoy watching the show n drinking afew beers 🍻 while sitting there on the porch!! Hears to ya my friend 🍻
This is not a derecho. Derechos are tall and wide yet thin storms that produce winds of up to 100 mph, coming from bow echoes. They kick up does of dust and fog and wreak havoc in their path. This is just a Severe lightning storm you’re seeing.
One extraordinary thunderstorm I experienced was October 15, 2022 in AZ. There was a small tornado that formed, followed by insane rain, hail, and strong winds and bright lightning. I also experienced a series of 3 destructive thunderstorms that ripped through AZ in July 10-12 of 2021. They ripped down all of my trees in my backyard, and brought torrential downpours of rain that flooded everything.
Man. I miss really really miss this kind of weather in Tunisia. We get these thunderstorms in Tunisia during late summer and fall (Especially September and October ). The smell of rain, cool air, sound of thunder and non-stop lightning!. But sometimes they go out of control and cause Floods and destructive lightning! But from 2021 we rarely get good thunderstorms except May and June of this year. This fall we never even saw low clouds!
Great footage. My hometown in Maine barely gets to anything close to these type of storms. I’ve had the experience of biking back home late hours of the night with the adrenaline rush of a fast moving thunderstorm approaching, but it was only a few lightning flashes and if I was out biking in the storm you filmed here, I would probably shit my pants. Again, great footage. Must have been pretty neat to record
Were there any reports of a tornado from that storm? In SC, when we see lightning flashing constantly like that, it means there's a tornado ON the ground close by
The most intense and heavy rain thunderstorm I have ever seen was in 2021. It was 3 Am in the morning and me and my family woke up with a loud thunderclap when we went to the rain was so so heavy. It was next day in the news that it produced almost 2.5 inches rain in 30 min and a total of 4 inches in 2 hours.
Great video that is one big storm your brave to stand there and record it if that was me I think I would of had to go and change my pants that looks very scary
I just got through reading all the comments from this, and he mentioned that this storm dropped two tornadoes around 10 miles away from him, and one of his friends lost his roof.
What a fantastic video. I would have thought that that much lightning would sent the camera's exposure system crazy but it didn't. Did you use a manual exposure. This is, without doubt, the best thunderstorm video I have seen. Well done
The most electrical thunderstorm i ever seen was the 1st august 2008 near Novara (Northern Italy)...4 lightning every second. It was during a very strong bow-echo (sorry for my english)

They live somewhere where thunderstorms don't happen that often.@@AKTigerBro

Bravo. Not only an awesome storm but the most impressive part for me was your composer on not feeling the need to do commentary. You just let the storm do all the talking so we could just enjoy. A million thank you’s!
i wish there were tornado videos that just capture the event, no shouting and euphoric talking
Kind of soothing when youre just watching it on video. Beautiful
By far the best thunder and lightning storm of all of them. Tremendous video. Thanks for posting.
its nice to see someone capture a storm without waving the camera everywhere
