- Stacy Westfall demonstrating her horse training talent at the Penn National Horse Show. She was performing on a 5 year old QH mare. It was very inspiring.

Oh my gosh, this partnership is too awesome to watch! What an inspiration!!!!
I wish I had her balance! And for the person saying that her horse only does dressage, you got to realize that any horse can learn to do this, it is the rider than has to be soooo good with her commands that no saddle or bridlee is needed. Stacy you are my hero!
She is my role model! She has motivated me to become a better reiner.
Wow the horse is beautiful, so amazing. Great movement too, very smooth.
she has such a good seat and is such an amazing rider.
I got to see her at Mane Event this year,
it was totally rad. this is what i'd love to do with my horse one day. its amazinggg.
I can say only one word AMAZING!!
I love this girl.
i love her riding!
I watched her at the 2006 equine affair in massachusettes she was AMAZING!
That is a lovely mare. :)
wow, amazing bond between them! thas great!
xx
The partnership is amazing, and this horse's beautiful, flawless pace is wonderful to watch. He\she does get confused a few times, but I've seen tons of 'bridled' horses worse.
She had her spur stopped sooo well. I wish my horse(LEXI) could ride like that w/ her spur stop
that means that he's comfortable with what he's doing.
wow!
chris cox(natural horsemen) can get his QH gelding to sidestep at the canter and he can turn on a dime and do flying lead changes in his sleep...
CD; I believe that's Leeann Rhimes or however you spell it singing it.
if she could get Whizard's Baby Doll to get his head up, he would make a great dressage horse. with the bond they must have to be able to do this, she could easily teach him the upper-level moves.
Its all about seat a legs. :)
Well said.
RIP Roxy!
Quarter horses can do dressage! I admit, since they're so much on the forehand, it might be hard for them to do passage, but flying lead changes shouldn't be a problem, and neither should shoulder-in, half-pass, or piaffe.
Piękne!!
No, that's a recording they played in the arena.
I've got to agree with you--CowgirlAllAround, I would love to see a video of you and your Paint doing what Stacy is doing here. I never see her really pulling on the mane. Have you ever pulled a mane, in the sense of show preparation? That certainly has to be more disagreeable than holding onto a mane. When one first starts jumping, one is taught to hold a little bit of mane so as not to catch the horse in the mouth. It is not cruelty. Please post your video so we can all be in awe of you.
she is using a wire on the horse it is almost invisible.but how i know is how her hands are.Tell me if I'm wrong
Are they not both a three-beat gait with suspension? Canter and lope are the same, it's just what a person prefers to cal it. I ride western, but I say trot and canter, just because I'm used to it.
I don't know exactly how SHE does it, but most people use their seat to stop the horse. Typically when riding a horse you move along with their movement. When you stop, and relax, that's a cue to the horse to stop as well. Of course, you have to train them to react to this cue.
aww wow i do that but preli styl wich is pritty much the same i think lol i do that i am curently doin bridel less and saddless but i am on to the xcountry cors in my wood and it is brill lol will be getting lots of videos soon lol and she got it to stop by moving her legs 1 forword and the other bak in a sequence lol c ya amelia+ruby
lol i wanna know how to do that with my horse!!!
Whoops I mean bridle, major typo.
i wish she could train my horse, too bad im poor
yeah i get that magazine and i thought she was awesome!
Oh God, to be 13 and ignorant. Ignorance is truly bliss. Swim and bathe in your bliss my dear. I've ridden for 24 years, shown to many world titles, and could not hope to accomplish what Stacy has done. This girl (Stacy) is the real deal, no hype, no gimmicks. And as for pulling on a mane, one does not "control" the horse via the mane... it's called communication. Indians did it centuries ago, it's not cruel.
is that the wizards baby doll horse
@JackAndArora Then why did you watch it?...
@Palomino8487 Unfortunately, the same could be said for your spelling and grammar...
Singing - sorry typed too fast for the OS
Hmm, that's what I thought. :)
is that Wizards Baby Doll?
oo hah sry guesss i didnt notice that part
lol
I am totally fine with you saying that, but I would love to see just one person who says that actually post a video of himself/herself doing this, or doing it BETTER, than westfall. Then I'll respect him/her.
Then why not ride a dressage test like this? You could still demonstrate the figure 8, lead changes, etc.
they are not the smae things. a jog ism uch slwoer than a trot and the horse has smaller steps. a canter is faster and more forward than a lope.
Ok, people have commented on the signing, and the reining. Both are impressive things. But there's a problem with the show. Why did the announcer call her up during the national anthem?!? General event protocol is to announce either please stand for the singing of our national anthem OR Please join in singing the SSB (when with a band or very straight presentation). It's certainly a step below flags in motion, but it's in that direction of what's expected. Have a little more respect, show plan
NO HELMET?????
Do you realize exactly how much training it takes to gain complete harmony between horse and rider? She worked with this horse 5 days a week for about 5 years! She is not some random person who hopped on a circus pony.
Also, a horse has no nerve endings on its mane so tugging on the mane isn't hurting it. Get over yourself.
@Palomino8487 Ya cause I'm sure you can sing WAY better right?
What?! You're kidding, right?
Yeah, she approximates some reining moves. Problem is they all look crap.
That's awesome--but--would you please, for the love of God, show us your non-amateur riding without the assistance of a bridle, saddle, etc.? I'm *this close* to blocking you because I'm growing very tired of your boasting. We all get it--you're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggone it, you love yourself to bits. Now, show us your fabulous dressage movements on a naked horse.
Well, let's see--you go on here, make remarks about how you're better than a professional, then have nothing to show as proof other than the running of your mouth. Your videos consist of absolutely nothing that belongs to you, which certainly does NOT serve to back up your claims. Can you blame the rest of us for being skeptical?!
