My 2 cents: Korg just released a drum machine with a lot of different flavors. If you like classic Roland machines or prefer the Elektron units, this one is most likely not for you. And IMO that's a good thing as there are already enough Roland clones and Elektrons out there. drumlogue combines the gritty sound of early 12bit drum machines / samplers with early analog drum machines in line with (a fatter sounding) KPR or Dr. Rhythm. When doing the demo, I often had the sound of classic drum machines in my head that were used in EBM, Techno, Chicago House and Industrial tracks.Therefore, it can also be a great addition to a TR-/Elektron-based setup, and if it's just to bring in a different flavor. I'm also looking forward to all the 3rd party extensions you can load into the machines. Plus, you can use your own samples, too, or make use of the great stereo spread or sample rate reducers in each sample slot.
you nailed it. I initially disliked this release. The more I listen to it and see the workflow, the more I like it. I feel like its going to be a future classic. Sounds really raw and oldschool but in a modern way.
32 gb not mb sample time 4 seconds and has line in but can’t sample, and depending on the user base to make it a good machine idk and the lowfi of it is not the good kind of lowfi to me, idk sounds very meh 🫤
@@artisans8521 more like one shots 32 mb is total memory shared with internals sdk will give ya 2 to 4 seconds per slot I believe but biggest gripe for me is the sound and I’m dawless so I don’t want to process in a daw maybe a fx box I run it though but that’s about it
Not at all, good thing with Korg, they sound allot different to anything Elektron related, often not as punchy/clean but usually a more "Big" massive sound...
So nice . I really loved the sound of the volca beat this next step. Didn't heard rolling base/ kick sound yet like psytrance sure this must be a good machine for it
hm. I like the drumlogue. But for Psytrance I'd rather wait a bit until 3rd party developers come up with something. Neither Kick nor Tom are "zappy" enough for that typical Goa / Psy Bassdrums. In that particular case you might want to try Model:Cycles or Syntakt.
I gotta say, it ticks most of the boxes that matter. I'm just not crazy about the snare sounds... But the effects sound really nice. I have been googling this machine constantly since it was hinted a couple of years ago. I almost didn't think it was actually going to be released. Very interesting. But as I said, the snare sounds a bit meh to my ears. Great video though, some nice beats in there!
I agree about the snare. I would think that Korg will have firmware updates and new drum synth engines in the future. More FM and More wave tables. Seems to be the modern way to develop a product line.
I'm trying to withhold judgement on the snare until I play it myself. For instance, every demo I've seen, it seems quiet. Which, like... that's a difference in how different people prefer to set things up. So the sounds I'm not into may just be different preferences. Yeah, I'm not 100% sold on the snare myself but I want to try it in person before a final judgement
@@MrTR909depends entirely on implementation. The Analog Rytm uses some fully featured analog circuits and can change wiring and timing in software. That’s why you have so many “machines”. Not sure that Korg thought that far ahead with this and the drum circuits may be hardwired, but there’s a lot you can do using software control and careful design.
$600.00....NO. I have been an Electribe2 user for many years, been wanting to layer in a Arturia DrumBrute with my Electribe2. I think for a total cost of $700.00 buying both the DrumBrute and the Electribe2 and layering/splitting these would be much better for hands on control, independent outputs and sound design. Attempting to understand this new device, the Drumlogue from Korg? I own both the Minilogue and MinilogueXD, Korg knows what they are doing making wonderful instruments.

How's the firmware? I was so excited for their SQ-64 but it seems they left it unfinished. I think I need a year of positive reviews before I'll consider any new Korg product.
From what I saw so far, it seems like the sequencer is a copy/paste from SQ-64 (I think that Drumlogue has more lanes for parameters?). I like my SQ-64. But both are missing real Song Mode. I have no idea why they don't want to add a such important (IMO) feature.

Does this come with at least 10 really fantastic bass guitar options? It doesn't have to be a full-on groove-box, but bass is too close to drum patterns to leave out when we have a digital engine already in there.

There’s a lot of good things happening with this machine, but that osc sound on the long decay of the kick drum is so annoying. It’s such an important part of a drum machine and I’m surprised that this is what they settled on, particularly given what you can get out of the Beats and Kick.

Meine ersten Gedanken: Warum so klein? Soll doch kein Volca sein. Etwas mehr Platz zwischen den Potis wäre schön für Menschen mit Wurstfingern. Designtechnisch hat man den Eindruck, dass Korg ein Elektron gerät kopieren will. Dabei haben sie es gar nicht nötig. Der Sound ist soweit ganz gut.
Ich fand die Größe total ok, aber kann verstehen, dass Leute mit größeren Händen da evtl. an die Grenzen stoßen. Im Vergleich mit anderen Units ist das hier aber echt noch im Rahmen. In etwa vergleichbar mit dem Abstand bei Elektron. Dafür ist der drumlogue schön kompakt, um ihn schneller mitzunehmen oder bei geringem Platz im Studio unterzubringen. Ist eben immer eine Abwägung. Zum Glück gibt es Alternativen.
The drum brute isn’t bad except for the worthless Space Drum. It is a shame they didn’t put a better filter on it. On later scaled down model of the Drum Brute, they took away the space drum and added an untunable cowbell. Why companies don’t run their products by real musicians before releasing just boggles my mind.

Erm, have you listened to it on proper headphones? It definitely does not lack bass. Definition? Yes. Smack? Yup, for sure. But bass? That's there 100%.
It does have bass, listen in headphones or decent monitors! That said, you can route a voice to an individual out to process externally. And I'm guessing the FX slots will include crazy distortions soon so win-win.

Estoy seguro de que en parte ha sido también mi elección para el video ya que simplemente tengo un fondo musical bastante distinto (aunque no me disgusta la música hip hop para nada). No mids, no bass... Based on the comments here one could think, that this unit is a perfect cymbal machine, including Bass Drum and Toms. Or let me put it this way: Bass is equally there as there are powerful mids (listen on decent headphones). But please don't expect it to sound like a TR (X0X) or an Elektron. That's what these other machines are meant to be for. This one sounds like a drumlogue. Isn't it great that a company doesn't limit itself to copying what's already available?
@@limbicbits Most aren't hearing the "sub" bass because 90% are listening through inferior monitoring. Without the sub bass, the bass is flat/boring/floppy (which I also don't like).
I played it on my Sony studio monitors headphones and my and my kali lp8 studio monitors sounds meh 🫤 and other stuff sounds great so you can’t say it’s UA-cam compression
honestly, all a matter of taste as you can see. Apparently it's not for everyone (which is good imo), though. But I always preferred units with character over everybody's darlings. Overpriced? What unit would you say could do the same for less?

It could get good and I don’t have it in my hands but I like a device to be ready at launch 🚀and not hope for it to get better ❤️🩹 that never works out usually so I assume it could stay how it is currently in this state
But wouldn't that rather be an asset? I mean, for Elektron sound, there are already Elektron machines, for old Rolands, there is the Roland TR-series (and the numerous clones). I always find it refreshing, when a company chooses a different path.
Nah. Just different. But IMO there are enough 808s, 909s, and the like already. I like that this one can act as an interesting counterpart to the existing concepts. But as of today, it has a very retro charm which reminds me a bit of Old school Techno, Industrial, and EBM. Let's see what else will come, once 3rd parties will jump on the SDK possibilities.

In the moment I did the video and review, it wasn't completely finished. But the unit didn't crash, and nor did it behave strangely.

I can imagine that this part can be taken over by 3rd party suppliers using the Drum SDK and some physical modelling.

The kick goes a bit into a KPR direction but it never is as smooth as in a Minipops.

Not very good sound, overall the kick… my opinion. Far away from Elektron machines.
But wouldn't that rather be an asset? I mean, for Elektron sound, there are already Elektron machines, for old Rolands, there is the Roland TR-series (and the numerous clones).
I always find it refreshing, when a company chooses a different path.

Nah. Just different. But IMO there are enough 808s, 909s, and the like already. I like that this one can act as an interesting counterpart to the existing concepts.
But as of today, it has a very retro charm which reminds me a bit of Old school Techno, Industrial, and EBM. Let's see what else will come, once 3rd parties will jump on the SDK possibilities.
@@limbicbits I even did not find these sounds enough good for EBM, I found them quite bad.
