We still use one for playing live Techno gigs occasionally. Its a bit large in size, but otherwise perfect, & very reliable as a way to mix, balance & record a electronic dawless set. I could always shelve & shape curves, or notch out things on the input mixer channels EQ, Gate the inputs & usually tickle the compression with some soft knee, low ratio settings on the input mixer channels too. Then u can also use the fx for being used as the Mastering fx suite processors... & that will protect any audio & mix u send out to a venues PA. From a vs2480 we know what we mix out during a performance to the PA. Wont sound crap, or destructive on a PA... & if i does sound bad, it is the PA... Or an idiot behind the PA on the night???
Bro. I have the TR8s and other than the sad Roland editor that calls home before loading, the only other "problem" i have with this machine is not being class compliant. If they added a VST interface and class compliance, i could find no faults, by far my favorite drum computer. I am a fan of the fader and knob approach...
Faders = good! (Have you tried Sonic Potions LXR2, btw?) The TR editor is more helpful than not having one! We should continue to request upgrades. (I'd like to play the synth notes like a piano, for example, like many other machines have...)
It doesn't come close. The Elektron Rytm is the gold standard, but comes at a price. The problem with the Drumlogue is although it has the right sounds, they sound weak. The bass end sounds hollow rather than punchy.
Appreciate the effort, but this audio sounds really weird. I've already seen some reviews on this and it doesn't sound like this. Perhaps check your recording and re-upload.
Thanks for the video. However the audio quality has massive issues. There is some phase issues there. Sounds almost as if somebody cut out the mid and there are only a bit of the sides left.
I listened through loopback audio and flipped the phase of either L or R channel to get this video sound right, the audio is faulty on the original recording
Most people will only use left+right out. I'm mainly interested in your connection to a piano/keyboard (not PC!) over Midi. So I will wait for your next movie.. ps is there a fill/intro for the rhythms? After looking, it's just a sequencer, rather disapointing. Yes, I need a new drum machine but not this one probably.
As a fellow techno head, I imagine this will be a very good techno tool. But for all the cool tech korg has showen in other machines (analog filters in the logue's, ms20 based volca kick, digital volca drum synth) this seems a bit disappointing. Its a volca beats + volca sample + sq64 + not even a single XD voice.
Idk it looks like it sucks honestly, if you already have all the rolands it doesn’t offer much, they could’ve given it more memory and had it be a full on percussive synthesizer based off logue engines but idk a sample based drum machine these days isn’t good enough, it’s like a bigger volca without more features and connectivity. Price is ok but it’s like who cares?
It’s has waaaay more connections than a Volca, 4 individual audio outputs and an audio input plus 2 USB ports as well as MIDI in and out. I loved the Minilogue XD’s digital oscillator, I reckon it’s awsome they threw it in a drum machine. The sounds are are cool and it looks as though the sound design goes pretty deep. I reckon it’s a win.
Your Sound (Drumlogue) is just hard left and right. Nothing at 12 o'Clock and around. Sounds kind of strange. Anyway, thank You very much for the Video
Your review has an inherent bias because you are also selling this device. A bad or niggling review and Korg might not let you demo the pre-relase of future items for the Australian market. I was disappointed on the shift labeling as it is hard to see in less then optimal light situations. A pale orange rather than gray would have been a better choice or even better backlighting that turns on when you hit shift. Also the factory programs revealed very few ethnic and world drum sounds. Mostly just house and dance programs. Pretty much shows who this instrument is targeted for. As an ambient music producer it is a no-go for me. For a company who's first product was a drum machine, this is a disappointing release by any measure.
I hate the "Don't until you watch my video" titles.

On the recording one channel of the stereo pair has its phase flipped, sounds confusing. Cool machine though
Thank you for pointing out the problem, that's what's making the sound thin
Nothing can beat the Tempest 👽

How does drum sound compare with Elektrons? Arturia?

@@NSW-ye3xw Thanks for review! I bought a syntakt instead this time, and do like it. (Still wish for a new KORG I'd like as much as Electribe ESX!)
Nice review!
Is it also possible to motion-rec the volume-control of each sound/instrument?
Sure is!
Does it also record songs or does it only loop the 16 steps ?
You can record songs but there is a limit on the length
@@Noisegate Thank you for the answer man !

Did they stop making these? Can’t seem to find a new one.
Great user experience but the sounds are awful
Beyond awful
The videos audio is fucked up. I’m surprised this video is still up

Yes, it sounds like left and right channels are out of phase
Came to the comments to see if anyone else was hearing this...
shoutout. yeah i watched this and was like yea this is out of phase and tripping out.
Tempest, soundwise, still the king :), Altough the drumlogue is quite an interesting machine specially the FM.
Korg needs to port that sequencer to the SQ-64
what do you mean?
Elektron Analog Rhytm II Is another level. 9 pads to performing, pure analog kicks, performance live knobs....... Ciao ciao
but it is the price of two drumlogues + 200 $
That's a grand dearer.

With lots I'm not sure but index is multiple in fm operator language.
Thanks for the great video/review. Can the drumlogue mute per part? And can the drumlogue vpm be played chromatically with a midi controller? Thanks.
While I don't know the answer my best educated guess would be yes. At least yes to muted parts. That seems standard on newer gear.

To be fair it is a different design.

your audio is out of phase, makes it impossible to listen to in stereo and thin in mono, consider re-uploading
MC707 and akai force are still the kings.....This one you cannot load anything - for sampling. Youi can only use internal sounds as the "base sound"
Why is the drumlogue recorded with a strange phasing issue in the audio? Your voice is fine but the drumlogue sounds like crap.
