He made a grave mistake. The face value of the coin is not what you go by. You look at the year, look for errors, look for ddo/ddr, the grade of the coin. A lot more plays into a coin's value than just what it is. I collect coins and meticulously go through each roll by hand. This video upset me with all the money he is just throwing away. @michaeldenison7339 2 роки тому +2

I highly doubt there were mint errors in this batch. If there were, they really don't fetch much of a premium. As these coins were circulated, most errors are not that valuable, and knowing what is and is not valuable, scrutinizing every coin, that is not something even most collectors want to do. They just go for the silver or key dates.

If any of those state quarters were mirror-like (proofs), they would have been worth much more than face value. Some of those dollars or halves could have also been 40% silver. I'm not sure if coinstar weighs coins or not, but it may have been rejecting silver coins as well. I have heard it rejects 1942-1945 silver war nickels. I would have kept anything it rejected and done more research.
Either way, I don't know why I was mesmerized enough to watch 53 mins of coinstar sounds, but good job keeping my attention :)
It's good to know that taking a gift card carries no fee. It was also surprising how much of a cash fee they took on just a few hundred dollars (12%!).

Those penny's, 1982 and older has copper in it. Some of those "newer coins" could have errors on them such as doubling. Good haul 👍

It is not worth the cost of smelting those pennies and as such they are easily findable in circulation, even wheaties are sometimes. There could’ve been errors, but I think it’s unrealistic to sort through thousands worth of coins just to find it

That money collection would have been worth just shy of a million to the right person, it’s such a bad idea to split that collection

    As a coin collector
    This hurts.
There could’ve been old wheat cents
    There could’ve been silver
    There could’ve been errors
And poor dude who collected these coins just for them to be shoved into a Coinstar never to be seen again

"These quarters aren't worth anything, they're just quarters, so I think, I could be wrong"......yep, and if you were wrong you'll never know it, and you could have just threw away a coin or possibly coins that could have been worth millions! Crazy, I would never have just dumped all those coins in a coin star machine!

The pennies older than 1982 are all mostly copper and their melt value is essentially double face value. Too bad it's illegal to do that until the penny is discontinued lol. Good video! Thanks for the entertainment :)

It’s sad seeing all those coins gone now because I’m sure some where worth a lot by the year especially pennys from 1999 can be worth a Good amount right now for the gap of the A and M in America. 😔

Smart girl. Same goes for 1992, 1998, and 2000 pennies. There’s rumors of other years existing, like 1996, but no hard evidence yet. I check all years just to be safe and help me sleep better at night.
