    MORIR SONANDO
    Serves 4
    INGREDIENTS:
    -2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (about 6 medium oranges, chilled in the refrigerator)
    -1/2 cup granulated sugar
    -3 cups evaporated milk (optional: fresh milk)
    -Ice (optional)
    PROCESS:
    -Cut each chilled orange in half and squeeze into a large pitcher - make sure you don't get any seeds. Pour half of sugar into the pitcher and stir until dissolved. Set aside.
    -Pour chilled evaporated milk into your glass and add remaining sugar. Stir together until fully dissolved.
    -Pour sweetened milk into orange juice, while stirring. Continue to stir until well combined.
    -Pour the drink back and forth between the pitcher. Repeat 4 to 6 times until mixture forms a frothy head.
    -Garnish with orange slice and serve. Optionally, you can fill your serving glass with ice before serving.

    A really good tip (me as I Dominican and I have done so many morir soñando throughout my life) it's better to put a lot of ice to the milk, if the milk is cold it will create a better texture, you can do it with lemons too, but you will have to add more sugar since lemon is more citric.
    It's the best drink for a hot summer night!

    For those doubting whether it'll taste good or not.... It tastes like an orange creamsicle. Our family usually makes "morir sonando" in a blender with ice. :)

    Hi Thirsty For!!!! You should make colombian recipes like 'candil' (called caspiroleta in other countries, the difference is that in Colombia we use panela instead of sugar) is a veberage whit milk, eggs, aguardiente and panela. Or delicious refreshing drinks with several fruits, one of them is called 'Cholao' (mixed tropical fruits with much lulo) and the 'Champus' (a drink based on corn with lulo, pineaple, panela and some spices). Seriously, you wont regret making these drinks.

    i dont know why the best tasting addicting things have to be unhealthy, but i think you can use Spleanda or any non-sugar sweetener , also you can add ice, vanilla extract, lemon juice or even oatmeal to customise your drink or make it more healthy. greetings from Dominican Republic.

    The trick with this is making sure both the milk and juice are really cold, I usually put ice in either or and mix both beverages from one container to the other so it won't curdle.

  • @theferventfoodie
    @theferventfoodie 11 років тому

    You'll notice they told you to keep every ingredient chilled. This is to prevent it from curdling, although the possibilities of that happening here are slim. This is because they used evaporated milk instead of fresh milk. Evaporated milk has been slowly boiled through a process called forewarming that causes the casein proteins (the ones that coagulate and form clumps in your drink) to be surrounded by whey protein, acting as a buffer against acids like orange juice.

  • @ddawn54
    @ddawn54 11 років тому

    Both are canned products and have about 60% of their water removed but condensed milk has sugar added until it is about 40 to 45 percent sugar. Condensed milk is also the typical ingredient used to make dulce de leche.

    Freshly squeezed is always best. Plus OJ from boxes tend to be in concentrate form- and you may not get the best taste in this drink.
    Question: cant i do all this in a blender? the sugar, milk and juice will combine well and become frothy as well?

    I agree with the previous comment. It It would be really great if you could propose a drink with low fat and low sugar here on the Channel. And in this drink I really don't understand why one would need to add sugar in the recipe at all!!! There is lots of sugar in the evaporated milk and in the oranges.

    You forgot the ice! You're supposed to go orange juice > sugar > ice > stir > milk...thats the real way to make this. Also, you *can* use whole milk to get a more orangey taste (evap tends to make this drink creamier)

    No it won't, and the reasons for that are: 1 all ingredients are chilled and mixed while still cold. 2 it is not regular but evaporated milk that is used here... the rest is chemistry.
