Crashtown cemented Kiryu as my favorite 5Ds character. I think he's my 2nd favorite Yugioh character overall, only behind Jaden for very biased reasons lol I love how they made Infernities a gambling deck during Crashtown; it feels like every moment in a Kiryu duel, you're on the edge of your seat. And Kiryu being a beast outside of battle is also great Eh, FTK's aren't really cheating; they're just usually inconsistent. Also, I don't think you have to be worried about the gatling ogre cards. You'd need to send 10 spells/traps to the grave in order to FTK and at that point, you could probably have FTK'd in a much easier way using the draw power needed to draw 6 more cards to add to your starting hand of 5
the return of the reaper card was so cool when it got announced. This arc although it was shorts it's still out there with the dark signers and tha ark cradle arc in terms of quality
I like the japanese version because the duel actually ended. I like the dub version because Jack said "I only lay my hand on a women if she lays hers on a child" and that's just a life lesson.
you know even though i like cartoons with more of an ongoing story i think filler is necessary while i like seeing the story progress whats wrong with the characters just taking a break or solving some smaller situations i think seing them in action mode all the time would be a bad thing from a writing point of view just learn to balance them well
i do have another question do you think people are more hard on the original yugioh and gx because it has too much filler cause to me the virtual world arc didn't add much i think the oringial is a bit overlong and i wonder if with gx it doesn't get really good until season 3 and i found the whole crowler trying to expel jaden in the beginning kind of annoying@@animeegotists7527
The Crashtown arc is my favorite one in 5ds. Kiryu/Kalin is my favorite 5ds character, and this gave him good development that lasted the right amount of episodes to be significant enough so that they were really putting effort into giving him a proper closure. It goes into some very interesting themes, like how much his past actions brought out a very suicidal and hopeless outlook for him. Kalin did a lot on his own, but I truly loved how it was also emphasized very much how much Yusei and Wes and Nico helped him since social support is a big factor to recovery a lot in cases where you're suffering as much as Kalin. And he accepted that he needed Yusei's help to tag against Lawton. While I don't agree about preferring 4Kids cutting out Kalin finishing the duel (that finishing move where he makes him a guess and a gun is put to his head is too awesome), you have an interesting reason for liking it to see it make Lawton look even worse. XD The change with Wes and Nico's dad surviving I'm sort of neutral about since I guess it doesn't really change anything. Although I like to assume Kiryu adopted them in the original. Cactus Juice is awesome, though. 🏜 Also, one thing that really stands out to me about this arc is seeing Lawton, Barbara, Malcolm being villains who don't really have a real reason for doing what they do. They are simply just evil for the sake of evil, which is sort of darker in itself as something more in-tune with real life at times and not what we usually get in Yugioh of big bads who usually have some sob story or big motive for doing what they did, or they were brainwashed to make you feel you have to forgive them. But that did not happen here, and I found it made this arc better.
I can definitely understand wanting Kalin to finishing the duel to be more cathartic, but glad you understand where I'm coming from. And your point about the villains is a good one. We don't get straight up evil villains as much anymore, so it was pretty refreshing in that regard!
There are two types of filler. One type is "this is in the adaptation and not the source material", the other is stuff that does not contribute to the story in any way. A piece of content can be any combination(Both, one or the other or neither). And it is not even always a sign of it being bad, because it can do great things for the characters.(This being an example of that)
I really loved it,it gave us a satisfying conclusion of Kalin's character and gave him some depth to him
I was so proud of how far he came.

That is something this arc did really well! The duels felt like there was a lot more at stake, and could go either way in some cases!

How is this filler 5ds isn't based on a manga
I think it’s because it’s right in between some major arcs.
I don’t know if that makes it filler, but everyone else seems to think so🤷🏿♂️
