    Despite doing these steps before on a couple of shirts, I really like the hand holding, play by play instructions. So here I am again. Thank you.

      I don’t remember what these are but cool! 😂 (I’m thinking it’s when I press the seam inside the collar to make it curve).

    Thank you so much for this video! I used it to sew 4 Cameron shirts and I have so much affection for that pattern, the thorough instructions, and then your help too. I've loved your narration and exploring your other videos - thank you for creating a fun environment and encouraging us to find methods that work for us, rather than getting stressed as to whether or not we are doing it perfectly 🙂
    You rock!

    My far one of the best videos I’ve seen on sewing a button up shirt. I love sewing these types of collared button up shirts, there’s something so satisfying about it and I am more of a Visual learner. Thank you for all the great tips.

    I love this class and I have saved it on my UA-cam channel or account whatever it is called. It’s better than any Skill share or Craftsy class that I have ever taken. The calming way in which you teach…the “you can do this” …etc. you are the boss of the fabric…love it! So helpful! Thank you for everything you do.

      Excellent! But those Skillshare classes are pretty fun haha! I model my time stamps after those short chunks!

    Just watching this ahead of making this shirt for my hubby - first time ever making a shirt so lots of new stuff to learn but I’m scared now as swing the cuffs looks just like sewing a jeans waistband but smaller scale, and I’ve not perfected one yet 😢. I’m getting there so this is really going to test me 😮. Thank goodness for your tutorials 😅

    • @SewSewLive
      @SewSewLive  9 місяців тому +1

      You got this! A shirt has a lot of fun details that can be tricky. But we only get better by trying. If you don’t make 15 of them first, it’s a lot of pressure to expect great results on your first one. Be kind to yourself!
      I also have a dedicated video for cuffs so you can always return to it. And I sew waistbands just like this!
      How to Sew a Bias Sleeve Placket
      ua-cam.com/video/PsIXwHkXyiM/v-deo.html
      I also have one for the collar and collar stand: ua-cam.com/video/2lSRJdtd-Q8/v-deo.htmlsi=Aq9GQqFHACZoBRCz
      I sew the collar and cuffs the same way in the CAMERON video too. And you can look at the time stamps and return exactly to those points if you need. But if it makes you feel better, cut those in scraps and try one first.
      Your husband is going to love it so much no matter how it turns out!!!

      Thank you so much for your reply. I already use your tutorials for waistbands on jeans and it’s because of those I know I’m improving each time I do them so I have no doubt this will really help with the shirt 👕. The fun begins on Sunday 😂

    I loved watching the construction of the tower plackets on the sleeve. I've never seen those before and they have always seemed like such a mind bender, but not it makes so much more sense and I'll have to try them sometime.

    • @SewSewLive
      @SewSewLive  2 роки тому +1

      They kind of are a mind bender! I have a dedicated video for them in the Quick How To playlist too. I explain a little better what’s happening just in case your pattern is different.

    Is there a name for the yoke technique you did instead of the burrito method? I like how you did that instead! Much quicker and easier to understand as an advanced beginner.

    • @SewSewLive
      @SewSewLive  11 місяців тому +1

      You know, my chat and I jokingly call it the Taco method. But it’s my own technique. When I started sewing a long time ago the pattern instructions told us to sew yokes like this in a really difficult way. There wasn’t a burrito method back then either. So I figured this out on my own. I even didn’t tell anyone around me because they were all older sewists and I felt like I was cheating. 😂 but it works and I get perfect results every time. I have a little video about it: ua-cam.com/video/2PbpbAq3xuk/v-deo.htmlsi=FyXvsR13ClxPL1X_
