If you looked at the physics you'd know that a rear diffuser is going to pour all that concentrated dirty air on to the front splitter of the car behind. They're dumb enough to think somehow releasing it low will fix the aero push issue, problem is, it puts ALL the dirty air directly onto the splitter of the following car. It will INTENSIFY aero push... If NASCAR had taken away the splitter and made a front air dam like the old school 90's cars had, then it would workbecause that air would slide in the gap between the nose and the ground...

When the car relies on that much downforce through the corners, dirty air will be a thing and drivers will have a harder time making passes on their own. When we bring pack racing to a half mile, it’s either gonna be a talledega style demolition derby or an extremely boring race. Either of those are bad for the sport
@@Leuel48Fan Kentucky didn't reduce banking. Turns 1 and 2 was steepened to 17 degrees so that they could widen the apron. Turns 3 and 4 has always been flat.

Homestead is a cool 1.5 mile track and it is a very basic oval that almost reminds me of the old Atlanta before the dog leg. It needs new asphalt as that is the original surface from 2003 when they added banking to that track.

You still get single groove racing because everyone fights for the PJ1 so it solves nothing. Texas and Kentucky ruined their new surfaces and one of them is gone now and the other sucks. Natural grooves are so much better. Just ask Homestead, Kansas, or Auto Club.
So, are they using special pavement that's at the correct temperature when compacting the pavement? In 2021 I miss the technological advances made to be certain of the end result. But all I hear is trail and error.

Yes! Our crews are currently putting down an Open Drainage Layer of asphalt that will help flow excess water down away from the racing surface. Expect to see a video about this soon!

Wasn't even possible to fake the moon landing back then. Was easier to go there than to invent the moviemaking techniques necessary to fake it. Plus, anyone with the proper radio equipment would be able to tell whether they actually went or not, including the USSR.

It will be slick with one groove. Passing will be hard because that new surface will not have the grip of that old worn pavement. But it will be exciting. Now if NASCAR could get the format right it could be good.
Sure would like to have heard him say "we actually had this project engineered", it would give them more credibility. Imagine how much time and $$ they would have saved if it were actually engineered. The hook would have been "engineered" right the first time. How soon before we hear complaints about "weepers" seeping up through the track in Turn 4? Or, before we hear "the track is torn up because of the sun"? Disappointed ... former fan.

I’m talking about something as operant as a super speedway, with next Gen. cars, NASCAR needs to contract PEs. 28 degrees of banking sounds like a good move. As long no progressive banking or whatever was done at Bristol and Homestead does not happen again.

I drove 8 hot laps there and it was a tooth rattling ride in a couple of places. However it was still an awesome experience.
I think the next track for me is that going to need repaved is Michigan and needs to at at least °7 to °10 in the banking.

500 kilometers? That's 312 miles or 203 laps around the track. The Spring race is 500 miles/325 laps, while their Summer race is 400 miles/260 laps.

Atlanta’s problem was that it was mandatory to come get 4 fresh tires after 2 laps. This is very necessary

It will be slick with one groove. Passing will be hard because that new surface will not have the grip of that old worn pavement. But it will be exciting. Now if NASCAR could get the format right it could be good.

Sure would like to have heard him say "we actually had this project engineered", it would give them more credibility. Imagine how much time and $$ they would have saved if it were actually engineered. The hook would have been "engineered" right the first time. How soon before we hear complaints about "weepers" seeping up through the track in Turn 4? Or, before we hear "the track is torn up because of the sun"? Disappointed ... former fan.
@Dartgame 340 then you have the wrong engineers, or they earned their degree from a two year school, or “on the job training”. I’m talking about something as operant as a super speedway, with next Gen. cars, NASCAR needs to contract PEs. That would be Professional Engineers that are liable and responsible should something go wrong. 2021 technology in the cars with 1950’s building of tracks. In my opinion.
