Pitstick Farms - John Deere 9530 on 11-12-2013

Dale Pitstick is at the controls of a 475 hp John Deere tractor plowing a recently harvested corn field near Troxel in Kane County, Illinois. The tractor pulls a Case IH 870 chisel plow. The area's first, but minimal snowfall of the season is slowly melting away as the daytime temperature peaked at around 32 degrees.

I like how he pops the steering wheel up and trusts the gps to do the steering. Pretty hard pulling implement. You can see the wheels slipping from time to time. What is the advantage of the chisel behind the disk? The rollers are self explanatory.

Why are you working the ground when its wet? Doesn't it make for more compaction? I have run the same machine so I know how it works. Why don't you try no till planting on your rolling hills of your fields?

How deep was the disc cutting and how deep was the plows going in? after doing the operation shown in the video was the field ready for planting?
