Model Y had HW4.0 in the USA since June 2023 when we purchased our Model Y. FSD v12 in the USA is training on HW3.0 and they get the updates faster than HW4.0
Same here - got my model Y LR in Aug 2023 and had HW4 and the newer quality cameras. So they have been out for quite a while. I didn't want to wait for the Juniper. Enjoy my model Y.
As I understand it, buyers a month's ago were excited to see HW4 in their US model Y's, but on inspection the board was a cut down version of what goes in the S and X, no inputs for radar or extra camera's. It is often called HW 3.5. Hopefully true HW 4 is in its way with front bumper camera.
I took delivery of a 2023 Model Y Performance June 26 2023, built in Fremont (I know because I found a tag under a seat saying it was built in May 2023 in Fremont), in addition to the VIN ending in PF772727. During the buying process I insisted on getting HW 4. The sales person in Burlingame assured me it had the new hardware but I had no way of being sure it actually was. Then I found a YT video showing HW 3 and HW4 cars side by side, and I noticed the HW4 telltale signs (larger cameras, location of cameras, better resolution of cameras, etc.) . I don’t use FSD and am worried the car lacks sensors. It can’t warn me correctly when parking if I’m about to hit an obstacle with the front bumper, as it relies only on the forward facing camera in the rear view mirror housing. As I inch forward, it calculates the distance to the obstacle based on the last time said camera saw the obstacle, which is imprecise at best. At times it alerts me to stop when I’m 18” from I would normally stop. I don’t think I would trust FSD that uses only cameras.
Tesla says Juniper isn’t coming anytime soon, but I think the current version may get the HW4 as of March 1st, based on the sale Tesla has going through the end of February in the USA.
Sources for the bumper camera that eliminates the blind spot? Since the deletion of the Ultrasound Sensors this was the biggest drawback in terms of comfort AND safety. Glad it is getting fixed finally. Just not on the new Model 3 but on the old Model Y? I am confused..
Hello Sam. I am sorry, but you are wrong this time. My Model Y long range, build in September 2023 already has HW4. You can have 73 HP more if you pay 1.800€ or find someone that uses your referral code.
The only bad thing about hardware 4 here in the US is that they will not stay sleep after a firmware upgrade back in December. My Model X will not sleep. I had it serviced 3 times and finally they said this is now a known issue and will be fixed in a future firmware update. So far it has not been fixed and it is costing range each night where I need to top off every day. I am very frustrated with this issue.
Dude the Tesla plants in Nevada are outside of Reno which is next to Tahoe. Also as someone else said HW4 out of Fremont was supposedly shipping around April of last Year. You got the Reno location right in the battery plant video just a little while ago Las Vegas is in the South of Nevada. I know you just took a hit to the head hope you are feeling better.
I'm not sure if Tesla will not add the new batterie later, first add Hardware 4 (selling point) after sales are going down add new design (Juniper) after sales go down again add new batteire so you will sale most keep demand high. I would like it if all comes at once but I dont think so.
Tesla model Y is now in Chile I m thinking to change my Lexus RX 350 for this model I drive 30 miles per day only in the city It s a good idea ??? I accept opinions
Yes you will get it in Aus. Your cars come from China. Any model Y you order, that is not in inventory (you would have to specifically choose to buy from inventory, they just don't give you one) then it will now have the new HW4.
Now is a good time for you to mention that economies of scale are going to make a step change in unit costs which will allow Tesla to implement future price cuts in 2024-2025 and put more pressure on the competition.
I think Teslas website should include hardware level as well as battery size and type. I understand why Tesla would not want to let us in on this, but it’s not transparent or right.
Hey Sam, I’m in Sydney Australia & ordered order my new model Y 20 Dec 2023, the build date is 8 Jan 2024, picking it up at end of Feb. Do you think my new Model Y will come with HW4?
So much for ”full self driving hardware included”. None of our Teslas are capable of FSD because of the hardware among other reasons. And guess what? Neither will HW4 be capable of it.
If CALL sells its equipment to TESLA, it will be suitable only for the most primitive LFP batteries. Zhenxing batteries CATL will be produced by itself, at a higher price in small volumes like M3P and Tesla won't be buying them in the near future.
You could be right, or they will take a royalty for every battery that Tesla make, which would have the advantage of ramping production by using Tesla investment and avoid having to go through all the political hoops of setting up factory in the US. They will be aware that they will have limited to maximise profits before competitors catch up.

Isn’t it considered more a HW 3.5? I honestly don’t know just heard it’s not the full board as in HW4.0
@@ktms1188 I think so too. Afaik it's HW3 but with upgraded cameras -> HW3.5
Is the connectivity upgraded from 4g to 5g?
How to tell what you have? Just got my Y last month. I forgot to ask.
Ordered a model y in July last year (2023) and it came from Fremont California. It is equipped with hardware 4 along with matrix headlights.
Mine as well

I have HW4 in my model Y perf

What about Berlin models ?
Umm was in tesla showroom in chattanooga Tenn, they already had Hardware 4.?? The salesman convfirmed it has been in America about 4 months.
If you always wait for the next best thing, you’ll always be waiting, never buying
Some people can wait, and all the power for them
Saves money though

There is no end to improvement as Tesla know best. Every year will be new improvements. If you have that thinking you will not buy any car.
Does this include Australian Model Ys in 2024?
Tesla model Y is now in Chile
I m thinking to change my Lexus RX 350 for this model
I drive 30 miles per day only in the city
It s a good idea ???
I accept opinions
Thanks for all your hard work Sam
Always!
I can’t see why they would add a bumper camera when they haven’t done it with the new model 3.
Someone is salty after getting a model 3 without a bumper cam
🤗JUST FYI SAM,MY MODEL Y WAS MADE IN JUNE,IN FREMONT WITH THE HARDWARE 4 and I have been NOT using it much lately 🤷♂️💚💚💚
What about us, here in Australia? Are we getting this version with HW4?

Tesla and BYD have improved with a fast pace that OEMs cannot keep up
Now is a good time for you to mention that economies of scale are going to make a step change in unit costs which will allow Tesla to implement future price cuts in 2024-2025 and put more pressure on the competition.
I still feel in the north the vision only approach will not work. When the cameras get covered you loose all your safety features.
when is the tesla Y fith HW4 coming from Europe (Berlin)?!
I’m sure you are getting lots of comments but US model y got HW4 last year
I wonder will Tesla gradually introduce the Juniper improvements to the Model Y.
I think Teslas website should include hardware level as well as battery size and type. I understand why Tesla would not want to let us in on this, but it’s not transparent or right.
US Model Y has had HW4 for quite a while now
I'm waiting for 800-1000v battery, and 48v low voltage.
And, after that the model, one year after.

How can shoppers and owners tell whether they have HW3 or HW4.

Afternoon mate
until I see a Model Y with a pheonix radar and a front bumper camera, I call BS on all HW4 stories. You all have HW3.5.
All new model Y’s have hardware 4 in the U.S. 😊
does the model 3 highland have HW4
Yes
Cheers mate
Every Tesla made since 2019 already has the hardware required to be fully autonomous, right? I mean, Musk wasn't lying when he said that, was he?
So much for ”full self driving hardware included”. None of our Teslas are capable of FSD because of the hardware among other reasons. And guess what? Neither will HW4 be capable of it.
Sam, both HW4 as well as adaptive headlights have been in Teslas previous to these videos…you need to do a bit more research mate!

Conlusion, I'll wait for 2025 to purchase my Tesla, wether it's a model 3 or Y.
🌷🌷Good on ya, Sam.👍
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✌🏻
The camera in the back is useless. Its always dirty.
Clean it with water and soap with a cloth and then spray it with water 😂
