At the beginning the windows with the metal spikes are actually matching gun mounts. The big circle with the metal base was probably for a searchlight, though still possible for a small gun. The "pill box" is actually an observation post and would have had a large range finder inside. It communicated to all the guns. The other room was likely the commo and command room. The small hole at the end with the stone pillar is for a mortar and the room next to it is for ammo. The foundations are likely for barracks, dining, etc since it didn't look like there was any of that underground. The doors have a top and bottom half. In case of debris blocking the door the top could still be opened to get out.
Pretty awesome Chris.... love these places that have a lot of history.....would love to see the cliffs and area now, where they filmed "The Guns of Navarone"... love that movie......
Considering the speed that it was made in they did a good job. If that was built these days it would last about 10 years and then start falling apart. Thanks for the tour Chris. 🙂👍
Absolutely wonderful Chris! I had no idea that these structures even existed in Norway. And how intricate the design. Really fascinating. A fabulous job as always. Thank you for your work and your art. - Tony
Very cool, Chris! I cannot imagine the amount of manpower it must have taken to cut through that rock...and to do so to that extent. I suppose with slave labor they could do whatever they wanted. Thanks again, for taking us with you!
The Germans are very well known for digging underground and making large structures / fortresses. They definitely knew how to build and create amazing underground places that tell us a story today.
And, all of these are open for the public? Wow, it looks very interesting, but I would definitely have another person with me when going around these areas.
Wow! How do you not get lost? As big as it appears, take a wrong turn, could prove detrimental to a person's health. It would be like Chevy Chase in European Vacation when he gets stuck in a massive round about. Lol
did you visit the Movik fort in Kristiansand ? one of the biggest cannon the germans build is still maintained and works to this day. Theres a lot of german coastal forts in Norway andd many have just been left on their own, meaning they are a testament to time
The misery began, technically, on 1938. The actual combat would begin later but the concentration camp imprisonments and death began in 1938. I bet these facilities were built then.
Norway was not captured by Nazi Germany until June 10, 1940, and Chris already gave the dates when this facilities construction began and was finished.
It would really be incredible if you could find a living wehrmacht soldier for an interview. Obviously the Nazis are mostly dead, they do have a few 90 plus year olds that are still alive. Those would be the one's to interview! Please do the research ( or we can help you with that!) And hit the ground running with that!
@@MobileInstinct Yes. There are a few interviews on video already where witnesses said they saw Hilter and many of his men go to that Hotel and eat, party etc. Many witnesses that swear up and down that they saw him there after the War. Eva Peron and her husband gave them safe passage through Argentina and in turn they loaded her and Juan with tons of compensation in jewels, cash, gold that they kept at the palace. I saw a huge attache of jewels that Eva gave a very famous actress back in the day! The actress bragged about it decades later that it was just a gift from Eva. I put the pieces together and understood those once belonged in the homes of the Jews the Nazis kidnapped and deported. As you know, the Nazis raided Europe and looted every single home where they went. Most people think that Eva and Juan Perron were nice Leaders because Eva would allow the poor Argentinian citizens to come to the Palace for vittles like bread, eggs, etc and handed to them from Eva herself! Eva did it out of guilt because her and Juan made out like thieves from the Nazis.
He should have been in Canada a week or so ago when they were applauding and celebrating an actual Nazi who was a war criminal. Trudope tried to deny he knew he was a Nazi and blamed on another cabinet member who took the fall and resigned.
The hideout looks massive. Seems like there's more than just buried treasure hidden down there.
Appreciate all your Norway posts. Thank you.

Beautiful drone shots. Incredible tunnels and I'm loving the history. Thank you!
Thankfully someone spray painted Orange arrows on the walls if you got lost among the maze of underground tunnels.
Really digging the Norwegian series
The silhouette of you walking down the tunnel is thumbnail/logo material for sure!

Get a pair of ankle high , muck boots/shoes to have on these adventures ! Keep 'em coming Chris !
Love the videos Chris! Thank you for another interesting history lesson!!!!
I’m so happy for you with being able to go to Norway. I’m envious. Beautiful little town. Thanks for the history lesson today.
Great video. I love and appreciate the Norway experience.

Thanks for the tour Chris. 🙂👍
Ty Chris. Great job. Take care
If you watch The WWII History Hunter, he does lots of these areas on the Atlantic Wall. This was a very good video Chris.
Wow. Great work Chris. 80 year old engineering marvel.
So impressive that all that is made inside of the rocks
Love watching all your adventures, stay safe ❤️🇬🇧👌

Wow! That is one awesome bunker! Thanks for the tour Chris!
I fully expected a ghost or 6 to be chilling around some of those dark corners
Haha luckily I didn't see anything
@@MobileInstinct Stay safe out there man, your videos are great
Wow, this is huge. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.

Wonder where all the tons of rock debris went to, had to be huge piles

Very cool place. Thanks
Best video youve ever made.
You need to go back through his videos and find his Iceland videos.
Damn Graffiti webwill never be rid of it!
You do have a backup light in case your main one quits right?
Very cool tour Chris, it reminds me of my basement.
🤪👍
Beautiful scenery Chris.Thank u for the journey. 😊
Manical geniuses that planned this all out……
Thanks for the great tour!
I'd hate to have my light go out down in those tunnels!
And, all of these are open for the public? Wow, it looks very interesting, but I would definitely have another person with me when going around these areas.
That Was Simply Amazing
Awesome. That was huge and so interesting
Awesome video! Thanks!!
It's my favorite battlefield map
We need to learn from this to keep us alive. And i would get home sooner then later. The germans had the best bunker system the world had ever seen

14:08 is the firing control center.

I’m surprised this hasn’t been turned into a museum with tours
Some *not so very nice* things, done on that spot.
That was a cool video. Thanks!
Good video thanks .
Nice Video Chris

Cool.
That's fascinating, it makes you wonder about the construction of it, sort if like the pyramids, a little less intense of course. 💯👍
This just makes you really think about how everyone who ever passed through there back then is either dead or really old.
Wait till you hear about freaking Stonehenge.
Interesting place. Dont forget clean dry socks and shoes.
Yikes! Spooky and thrilling 🙃
I swear they used this exact same area in sniper elite 5
The Guns of Navarone.
Wow 😮 ❤

@@em-pinmanspandemoniumpinba4193 sorry. I was in a place where I could not have the volume up! 😅 I did not know he provided dates.
Cool video my dude. Funny thing is the bunkers never saw any action. Huge waste of reichsmarks etc.
Just think of how many Nazis went up an down those very steps
you found castle wolfenstein.

I'd love to go down to Argentina to those German towns where a lot of the nazis escaped to. I'm sure there are some interviews to be filmed down there

Many of these tunnels and installations were actually built by russian POW. Many russian POW’s died because of the hard work.
