- Fort Tilden has a long history of protecting New York City and the surrounding area. It's now abandoned and full of forgotten military bunkers and batteries through out the area.

Back in the late 80's we would ride our bikes there from sheepshead bay and camp out for the night.
Summer nights were the best on top of that bunker
@@Wowzerz718 i still have scars from the adventures there and from being eating alive from the mosquitos and sand fleas🤣
Once again Chris makes history fun.
He's documentary history, cause it looks like the U.S is on the verge of becoming history, starts in poor towns and spreds don't be fooled just look.
That overhead gantry you were looking at was most likely used for moving those 16" shells around. They weigh anywhere between 1500 and 2000 lbs.
It's unreal how heavy they were
Looking forward to this one! Thank you Chris,
HI CHRIS ,, YOU WOULD BE A GREAT HISTORY TEACHER FOR ADULTS OR HIGH SCHOOL KIDS,,.. MY SON MAX 8 YR.S OLD LOVES YOUR TOUTUBE CHANNEL.. THANKS!!!!!
16 inch is the caliber (diameter) of the shell, each shell weighed over a ton, they were in efect battleship guns.
Thank you, Chris!❤
Boot camp was the same way, no dividers between the toilets, no privacy😮.
I'd be there in the middle of the night haha
@@MobileInstinctThat's what I did😊.
🤣@@MobileInstinct
@@danpatch4751 😂
Yikes ! I like my privacy.
I was born in Maspeth. Grew up in Rosedale and then moved to Suffolk County. Fort Tilden was a cool place to go see once it became abandoned. Thank you for the video!
Really interesting video. The bathrooms were cool!
Crazy how technology has changed. I don’t know if it’s for the better…
Shame that folks desecrate history.
Thanks for more history.
I have been to almost every one of these that we have on the West Coast. The ones West are taken care of.
There are miles of underground facilities that are likely blocked off.
08:40 they look like exhaust silencers 🙂 Good explore as always
Very interesting video. Packed full of information and history. Love seeing you two explore together 😊
Thank you Chris for the history lesson. Really enjoy the history that most people dont know.
That's a $hitload of graffiti over a long period of time. I'm surprised you didn't encounter someone there.
I love WW2 History. Keep up the videos man! F*ck the trolls!
I WAS IN THE MILITARY,,ARMY MEDIC IN THE LATE 70-80S ..
They have a cure for caps locks now. You should look into it.
Thank you, for your service, @RonaldMiller. 🇺🇲⚘️
Thanks for your service. I never served but I wish I had but I respect our military that gave us peace.
That bathroom reminds me of my high school days................... REALLY
2 Weeks and finally I watch the episode. Nevermind. Love, Watch your steps
Very cool, especially the Zoolander reference.
Thanks, Be careful out there guys
Awesome history lesson.
Awesome coverage. Thank you, Chris.
How about watching it first?
Have you seen it? Are you watching it before you made this comment?@@Wings_of_foam
No, I saw your comment 5 minutes after it was uploaded.
So how can you say it's awesome when you haven't watched more than 5 minutes lol.
@@TheLmende
You really need to get a life, and concern yourself with more important things than nit-picking. Also, why don't you ask anyone one else the same question you asked me?@@Wings_of_foam
Thanks cris
That bathroom design.😂
Graffiti artists always know where forgotten places are
For around 13:30 the name can be fire director, the terms change between services and period. Also sometime in the interwar period they were linked to electromechanical systems that passed the info around the facility/ship automatically without the operators needing to, as WW2 approached and began those systems were totally automated.
The target just needed to be designated and the large electromechanical computers did the rest, as World War 2 progressed RADAR increasingly replaced the optical range finding and designation though all of these innovations saw less adoption for shore to sea anti ship batteries as getting them fitted to warships was the priority, in some cases the smaller multipurpose batteries like the 8" guns kept pace for air defence.
Used to watch your video regularly a few years back, I guess I got some catching up to do. Great to see your subscriber count nowadays, and how more comfortable you seem on camera compared to back then
Chris ✌️
Munitions.
Chris, have you ever considered sneeking in to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Russia to see the abandoned Russian space shuttles?
Thats a neat place
This was really cool ! I myself did two videos on batteries in the Pacific Coast area of San Pedro california mobile instinct you should try going there. One is called battery 127 and the other is called battery leary merriam both located on the san pedro area I believe so!
Lots of those around San Francisco and the Golden Gate. A Terminator film was shot at one in Marin County. The best preserved are on Angel Island with 100 year old graffiti by troopers going off to the Pacific before WWI. Some are sealed off but urban explores often get into the deepest places. You ever make to it San Francisco check them out.
We'll need those again when Skynet goes rogue.
👍👌🇮🇳👌👍
Nice Video! Chris
Never knew that there was a base on Long Island….
I lived in Sheepshead Bay into the 80's and my wife and I went and explored often. Crazy knowing they had nukes in that place !!!
Ft. Tilden is one of the most tick infested places on planet Earth.
What was that @ 8;05 ?
When there done huffing paint the low pressure in spray cans makes better graffiti
What is this!? A learning center for ants!!! It needs to be twice this size!
90th !!!
I wish these buildings would not have grafiti all over them. The people who do it should find something more productive to do with their time
The soldiers from WWII said that, if someone tried to pull the pin out with their teeth, they'd lose their teeth.
u should make a loggy
What is that
Hi
🌹🇮🇱🤍💙🇺🇸🇺🇦❤🤍💙💛
Did u serve in the military,Chris?
Citizens Paid For It! How About Giving Us Money Back From The Wasteful Military!!!!!!!!!!!
Graffiti "artists".. Those criminals ruin everything historical and beautiful with their ugly tags..
😂
Nucular=bad
Nuclear=good
😅
Appears to be an abandoned Minecraft map
It’s not a old bunker. It’s a graffiti art exhibit. Sad
There is a place for graffiti. It's not here.
lol judging from all the graffiti, not at all forgotten....
they can send the migrants there!
Shame on you.
You can take that hate somewhere else dude.
@@wotintarnation2077 the victims of the Hawaii fire only got a one time payment of $700 per household not per person. Meanwhile these " migrants " are getting $2,000 a month on a preloaded debit card every month.
You must be very proud of yourself 🙄🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@@MADMAX-vd8prSo you recognize when people need help. But. You think only the people you care about deserve it? Make the connections. Jesus.
when you say kinda cool...what does that mean? it is or it isnt?
SEND THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS THERE NOW!!!
Do yourself a favor and stop going into places like that all the way, they may cave in on you!
Talk too much savory little just show the place
The projectiles were 16in in diameter, you really don't know jack about military mechanics
You expect me to know everything there is and articulate that information perfectly at every place I visit or explore? 🤣 👍
@@MobileInstinctHe's a know it all gun clown. His only knowledge in life haha
@@ccov89Yeah, that's typically what happens. It's their hobby or profession and think everyone should know as much as them. Makes them feel smart maybe.
