I’ve felt it’s my calling to be an officer since I was a child. My father was, and ever since I was that child, he told me not to do it. “It’s not worth it, the administration hates your guts, the people want you dead, and you will never truly make a difference.” I know he comes from a place of love when he says those things, but despite all that I know and have learned, every fiber of my body and soul is committed. My spirit lives to protect those in need and to do the right thing, no matter how much no one cares or how little it matters in the end. I’ve never felt a passion this strong that I’m willing to die in order to pursue it. When god calls you to do something, you don’t tell him no. So I don’t care if I don’t come home one night, as long as it’s in the name of freedom, liberty, and gods will. I’ll gladly dedicate my life to changing the way we think, speak, and interact with each other because it feels like no one else will. I’ll be 19 this December, and I’ve been weightlifting and training martial arts for 5 years, because if I’m gonna do something I want to do it the best that I can. I still have 2 years to be absolutely sure, but the world is crying out for more great men and women. Wish me luck, I’ll do the same for you all ✌🏼
Hey! I dont mean anything against you or anything, but may I ask why? I'm currently in the hiring process and this is a common thing I've heard. It's something that I've just been curious about, because all this stuff hasn't really had an effect on me, it hasn't made me more excited, nor has it hampered my excitement, so I've just been curious about that if you wouldn't mind!
@@ryanhatcher8606 Well, simply put, I think they're getting an awful lot of shit thrown at them, undeservedly so, and it pisses me off. I recognise the importance that the police play in not only keeping order, but protecting the rights of people, no matter who they are or what they believe. I'm no fan of police that abuse their powers, treat people poorly, or are negligent in their duties, but I know that for every one of those officers, there's hundreds of good, well-meaning officers who only want to do what's right, and protect their communities. From what I've heard, the morale in my local force (Police Scotland) is really bad, but being an officer is what I want to do.
Nick, thank you for posting this segment. I have always wanted to be a Police Officer since I was a kid, but recently with what's going on in the world has made we question if I still wanted to do it. This video made me realize that I still want to follow my dream. That is why I look forward to my Swearing in on Tuesday. Thanks Nick!
Yeah definitely! Just a simple request Nick can please do tours on LAPD with rob again? Maybe the SWAT, Air Support whatever it is. I goddamn love those especially by LAPD orrrr... Santa Monica Police if you were able to pull it off. ;) (also their swat and air support ;) )
I told my kindergarten teacher I wanted to be a police officer when I was 5 years old when she asked me back in 1991 what would you like to be when you grow up. And now I'm in school taking up criminal justice to be a police. After all these years I've never changed my mind. If my teacher was still alive today she probably would be like wow.
As cop a I respect the people rights... so, we need cops, but not bad cops, officers that thinks they are above the law above the constitution or that thinks they can do what they want because wearing a Badge. This is the reason because most people don’t respect us.
I want to do badly. My father, grandfather were cops, my brother...I really want to become a police officer. I wish my local departments would make it easier for people to get in. I have pay for an academy out of pocket...for local agencies. But I work full time to support my wife and 3 kids. I’m 30 years old, I’m fit, I really want this. I’ve gone so far to apply to different states, it’s just not easy around here. Almost as if they don’t want cops around
I start on Monday... I applied in February before COVID, before George Floyd, before the election... I genuinely feel called. But fuck man, I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. I just want to humanize that badge and be able to apply mental health skills to the job.
Hey Nick, I live in Ohio and have been applying to Columbus, Cincinnati and some suburbs but am also interested in Miami PD. Is Miami PD hiring right now?
Hey, man. They aren't right now and when they do hire their windows are quite small. Watch this page to see when and if they post www.governmentjobs.com/careers/miamifl# And follow @miami_police_hiring on instagram. They post their usually when they've got hiring events. Good luck. 💪🏾🔥
This is the literally the worst time to be a police officer. Veterans are retiring as soon as they can, and rookie officers are leaving at within 5 years. Don’t matter which department you work for, and they will throw you under the bus for the political gain. There is no support.
Leo is what i want to do I feel it and felt it ever since I was a kid. For me, Sometimes its just the administration and the people there that should be protecting you but don't because they are afraid of what the so called "protestors" will do. Feels like no one gots your back if shit hits the fan. This is just my opinion and im open to hear what you guys think.
It is a perfect time. The people who are signing up as myself (once MPD opens, hopefully soon) are the ones that can see past the bullsh*t of what's going on. Police Officers now need people who can watch their backs and support them in this tough situation. I doubted about being a PO before but now I see it as it's more about honor, which no one has nowadays.
Right now I work as a EMT in a private company. I'm going to be getting out of that thankfully. The options that I'm looking at is fire service/paramedic school. Although, I've looked into law enforcement. Any advice as to choosing which path to go down between fire or law enforcement?
Whatever will bring your soul the most fulfillment. I’ve recently gone back and forth between this question. Everyone will tell you how great being a firefighter can be and that police work is shit these days, but there’s something about being a police officer that gets me fired up. It stirs up a passion in my soul. Thinking of being a firefighter doesn’t do the same. Hope that helps.
@@wyattdunlap5811 I know exactly what your talking about. I'm also preparing an application for a PD right now, your words are getting me motivated for it. Thank you
I live in Oregon, and it’s a horrible time to be a cop anywhere near Portland. Every cop that wanted to do their job moved to Idaho. It’s impossible to do your job when the state legalizes hard drugs for personal use, and empties the prisons because of the Rona, then supports rioters.
Its one thing risking your own life when you join the police. But now youre risking your family's life if you were to get involved in one of these shootings. Sad.
One think about it is that the retirement plan has move from 20 years to 25 years and I think you’re able to collect it around the age of 52-56 years old
Hey nick , I have one question , what are the requirements to become apart of the tactical flight officer/ aviation unit and how do I join it . I just wanna be ready for whats ahead of me Much love, stay safe .
I feel like this is an oxymoron type of question simply because, it has never been a good time to be a police officer. You just gotta make sure you’re the right one for the career. As long as there is crime and a time to help people, it will always be someone that has to do it. Everyone can’t buy somebody can. Are you that someone? I know I am that somebody to one day join my brothers and sisters in blue.
