I literally just did this!! Did the straw thing twice tried the bottle with straw and oh my god she used it!!! What the hell! Thankyou so much for this! We have been trying for ages to get her to use a straw!!
You are a genius, I have been trying for the last 3 months and changed so straw bottles but I tried this trick and it worked in 2-3 attempts 😅 So happy now I can travel without worrying about which bottle would work better ❤️🙏👍👏
How old was he when you started this? My daughter is almost 13 months and SCREAMS for at least an hour anytime I give her anything but the bottle. I’m feeling super defeated lately but definitely will try this!!
You have to keep encouraging her and make it fun. My husband would sing a song with pause breaks in between because she could use a straw cup after I taught her how. She cried too but we were consistent. Also, every time she drank from it I would cheer like I would potty training. She was so proud of herself afterwards.
This is so smart. My baby basically threw her beabe cup/straw when I gave it to her. She does great with open cups but some reason she gets mad at straws lol
This is how I taught my second child how to use a straw cup and she used the same weighted straw cup in different colors including pink lol. She never used a sippy cup because she kept biting it and I couldn’t teach her how to use it like a straw cup
The sippy cup looks le the Munchkin brand "Any Angle Click Lock Weighted Straw Trainer Cup" On Amazon it's 5.65$ ish & it looks like available for prime shipping too! Take the following w/ a pound rather than grain of salt as we're a baby led weaning + Montessori/Attachment parenting household so almost all of our baby items & methods are based around working w/ Wolfcub's sensory feedback loops so she learns independently. (Sort of like "hacking her body's natural developmental stages" to work make learning easier/better) I'm OBSESSED with the EZPZ feeding system. Their plates, utensils, cups, bowls etc are all designed to work w/ how babies need sensory feedback loops to learn independently! Eg for teaching baby to drink from a cup or cup + straw w/ low mess would be the EZPZ tiny cups & Mini cup + straw. The cup itself is designed to allow a "nipple like latch" around the edge of the cup that will naturally transition to proper lip closure around the rim of the cup. The well of the cup is weighted and angled in such a way to once again facilitate the natural transition from a suckle to how we as adults drink from cups. Their straw cup has a tight lid that's pretty sturdy for meal & play time. The straw itself has EZPZs sensory nubs that naturally tell baby to close their lips on the straw & suck using the entirety of their mouth, tongue & throat muscles. Both of these cups are great for promoting independence but more importantly proper lip closure & proper oral development. Wolfcub, my 17 mos old, was able to learn to drink from an open cup by 6 mos (she sat up & stole a forkful of my dinner at 3.5 mos and we started baby led weaning w/ pediatrician approval shortly thereafter) and it took her 72 hrs to master a straw. Now she carries a 16oz mason jar of water during the day & has an open cup during meal times! I think I can count the number of messes/spills on one hand thanks to EZPZ & Ms. Dawn SLP + Baby led Wean Team on Instagram for that (they both also have a blog!)

This worked so well!! I had tried a few times before and he just didn't get it. I tried your tricks and he got it in 2 minutes. Thanks!!
Mine keeps biting it 😂
Mine too! I don't know how to stop my son from biting the straw.
Yep, mine too. 😅 She's a mega teether. Hopefully she'll figure it out eventually.

We really struggled getiing our little guy to figure out the straw. Followed these directions and he picked it up in 3 days. Thank you so much.
This took 2 minutes and my baby got the hang of it!!
Thank you so much! This worked really well for my son! ❤
It worked like magic. Thank you!
Hi
Thank you so much for sharing this , it was so helpful. I did twice with my baby and it worked.
Amazing!!! I gave my daughter the straw using my finger twice and she got it immediately. Thank you so much!
Thank you!! After about 5 tries she got it 🤯
Ugh we've been struggling with this (almost 1 year old!)... Tha6vk you!

I still can’t seem to get my baby to do this. He just keeps drooling it all out afterwards 🙃
Mine is not working. I try to suck from it, and it takes a lot of force for the liquid to go through
Definitely going to try this. My LO needs to eat and drink moreee!
I will give this a try, hoping it will work
All my son wants to do is chew on the straw. Any tips on how to discourage this?
Will definitely be trying this out this weekend!
How old should they be?
In time, they will learn it. It's only up to you if you want to pour the drink yourself.
Where did you get the straws? I got some that are terrible and wouldn’t hold water when I tried lol
Smh I’m still trying to get my sucking reflexes to calm down 😔
Sorry this is a family channel I just get carried away- your baby is beautiful
Wtf
Baby is so cute 💕
This is so smart. My baby basically threw her beabe cup/straw when I gave it to her. She does great with open cups but some reason she gets mad at straws lol
That method didn't work for mines they
Kept hitting the straw
So smart ! Thank you

This worked a treat - thank you so much for sharing!!
That baby cannot use a sippy cup yet
Isn’t a straw bad for tooth and gum formation?
Thanks!
What are those straws called? Where do I buy them?
put puree in the bottom. Someone mentioned it and baby for it after the 2nd try
Which straw cup is it?
Where can I purchase those straws?
what reusable bendy straw is this?
Thank you 😂
The baby cannot use the bottle yet
My son won’t drink literally out of any silly cup no bottle no nothing he doesn’t drink all day long
Same, I been giving water to my little one through her feeding spoon… it’s the only way she will get some fluids in her through out the day.
hi! wad brand of the cup are u using ?

@@pakristofzski that was one of the most longest reply I have ever seen
Didnt have to do any of this. Baby just drank from the straw cup straight away. She loves her bbox.
