  • Jason Weigandt is for me the voice of Motocross. For 2024 he finally gets his chance to step into the booth during Supercross, and it makes an epic season just that touch bit sweeter. I planned to get a lot into Weige's back story, tell some stories from his 20+ year career, but that is going to have to wait for the next one! We spent 4 hours solving all of the real and imaginary problems of Supercross and it was unreal.
Before we get into this episode though, I wanted to share with you some awesome news regarding our first ever race, the Gypsy Tales 500.
Vurbmoto and Gypsy Tales are putting on an 8hr Grand Prix style event in Mesquite, NV. Using one of Gypsy’s favorite events, Australia’s Transmoto series, as inspiration, this will be an 8hr team or solo (for the Savages) race with your boys (or girls). The course will consist of a tamed down moto track and off-road loop, averaging 20 min lap times. The goal? Have fun, kick some beers and race your buddies. It’s worth noting this is a 125cc and Up race, no mini bikes allowed.
As far as the course goes, it will be part moto, part off-road - Sunday’s loop will be a unique course with an average lap time of 20 minutes. The loop will include terrain for the average rider along with a tamed down motocross track with no mandatory jumps. Again, this is a vibe race and will be built for all rider disciplines.

Love the podcasts. The Privateer things a bit wild. That’s what makes our sport so great. They are also spending the money to get there whether they get in or not. They are the ones also spending tons at training facilities etc. it’s all part of the sport. Privateers are one of the coolest things in our sport hand down. I'm.glad the riders personalities are coming back I to it. I watched the life get sucked out of James Stewart in his interviews over the years by factory rules. I've heard for year and years we need to make the sport bigger. But do we really ? Isn't it just great how it is. Production (kind of) bikes that us public can buy them and also we can have a cracking at supercross if we get good enough. I think the appeal of motocross is how grass roots it is. It's awesome that the riders earn millions but only the fans know and they can walk trough an airport. That's what's great. I don't think things need more change. What's the benefit of bigger. Great interview. So much passion for motocross 🤟🏻 braaaap

I actually keep track of how many times names/topics are mentioned, drinking game for the races. And it always blows my mind how much they focus on Eli and Jett. Jett even called them out last year for interviewing him instead of the winner in one of the races last year.

I think the radios are an excellent idea.
For cost, you have the factory teams buy them, but also have some owned by the feld and then rent them to the privateers per race.
With the ability of teams AND officials to talk to the rider, the rider to talk back, the broadcast to hear and broadcast all the chatter, it makes the race safer with better spotting, adds/shows more personality of the riders to fans, and can help build storytelling with the race and all the after shows.
Add the helmet cams for the personal view of the rider and its spectacular entertainment value.
They do this in F1, Nascar, etc and it only adds. It never makes it worse.

The best Announcer since Ralph Sheheen. He makes the Supercross and Motocross better. He is the voice of Moto in the 2000"s

In sprint car racing we use raceceivers they are literally $150 buck 1 way radios. They are used from 5 year olds first track day to the tippy top of the sport. You can definitely start there.

I think there should be an age or year limit on 250 class. 5 year maximum and mandatory move up to 450

I don't know how much you'll earn with this episode but I hope it's a lot. The last 45 minutes of this was probably the most important and thought provoking conversation, in terms of change and growth of the sport I've ever heard. I'm a nobody. But the Marty Tripes won the first Supercross race that I went to. And I've been going ever since. Watch every race. Have multiple decades of this on VHS. The DVR has the last five seasons of indoor and outdoor races on it. I listen to all the content I can find. Whether I agree or disagree with the host, I'm going back to hear their perspectives. I'm a fan of dirt racing. You guys just may have turned professional dirt bike racing on it ear. Absolute gold. Thank you you.

No problem bringing up Jujitsu. You are genuine and that brings a more human aspect to a cookie cutter media platform ✊

The points you guys made about the connection to the enthusiast is a great point. Moto is expensive, but it is still achievable to the lay person. I think you guys are right, what other motorsport can you get into for a few thousand dollars.
