When Obama was asked about his "legacy", he said he hoped it would be all of the volunteers & staffers & loyal employees going out into the world & continuing to represent the ethos of the Obama years - can't remember what he said exactly but it was like being good people, supporting democracy, etc. etc. & so many of his people pop up all over the place doing good things - these guys are a shining example of just that through their election tools & fundraising & informed analysis - one of my go to pod casts if I don't have time to watch them on UA-cam first. And of course, Tommy & Ben with Pod Save the World are so good at explaining what is going on internationally. They do Obama proud, and he has said so on live TV when he goes on their show.

And then you have Trump's former staffers bitching and whining about not getting good jobs. Cassidy Hutchinson, Pence's national security spokeswoman, and Saunders assistant (can't recall their names), so far are the only ones I think have gotten good jobs.
The books written so far by Obama's staff have been informed, interesting, funny and forward thinking.

So true. Having worked so closely with a president in the White House they have a unique perspective on current events.
As a recent subscriber to their channel, this a fabulous representation of what PSA delivers. All of the facts with enough jokes and laughs to keep you from slipping into a complete depression.
Im from the Netherlands, so there is literally nothing I can do against the rise of extreme right in the USA. And that’s very depressing. I found out that listening to their podcast always make me feel better. Not only for the laughs, but also their rational and contemplative way of tackling the issues.

I’m Scottish and I totally agree! The US is such a global giant that what goes on there affects us here in Europe but it feels like that influence only goes one-way.
The rise of far right extremism due to Trump has fuelled a similar rise in extremism here in Europe. I’ve even seen people refer to opposing laws that don’t actually exist here because they’re consuming all this American content and apply it to their own lives.
We’ve got anti-abortion activists and anti LGBT activists here in the UK now who are from American organisations! It feels like a sickness that’s spreading…
…. but there are things we can do to stand against it, and we also have to try not to let ourselves get too depressed because things can change for the better.

The two grandpa analogy is a good approach. It seems like, for one reason or another, Dems have decided to lose their minds and declare that Biden couldn't possibly win because something something age.
This approach leans into the age thing, and RIGHTFULLY points out that Trump is also extremely old. It shifts the focus back to where it should be, which is on the respective character of the two candidates

Not sure they are asking to be hired. They are happy where they are...
what they're doing is better- they're basically offering free advice to the campaign publicly in their pods which also allows independent PACs (the Super versions of which wouldn't be allowed to coordinate with employees of the campaign) to also act on the info. Plus getting the advice for free, the Biden campaign can use the money it would be using to pay them to support on-the-ground volunteers (all those stickers, door hangers & donuts for people going door-to-door don't pay for themselves!)
The democrats and Obama ex number 1 campaign manager is talking joe biden not to run for office in 2024. Joe Biden called him a little prick.
These lads are eloquent and smart. Their podcast is very engaging. If there’s one podcast to follow then it will be them.
Just out of curiosity as a Scot, may I ask if you're American? I'd be interested to know if the term "lads" is finally catching on in that fine country.
Side note, by and large most of us Scottish people absolutely despite trump and root for democrats to win and save America.

And Lovett or Leave it and Strict Scrutiny! Lovett tours more than Pod Save America so gets more opportunities to highlight members of Congress & local progressive leaders that give me hope for the future. Strict Scrutiny takes a similar approach as Pod Save America of really smart, funny, insightful people (in this case 3 women) talking legal stuff, including unpacking the Supreme Court- 'cuz even cases that don't get as much publicity as Abortion Rights or Gun Control will have far reaching effects on the political process (e.g. gerrymandering) and consumer protections.
I LOVE PSA and Lovett or Leave It! I'm so glad Jimmy had them on and I hope their audience grows from this. I've been a subscriber since day 1, and I'm so proud of their success!
The more people tune in to these guys the better.
They’re the three-headed hydra of charming political commentary.
They're all brilliant, but I especially appreciate Lovett's sense of humor. I will listen to the ads in PSA just to hear him toss in a zinger. When he swung and missed with the Sister Act joke, I could see Obama boring a hole through him (no anger interpreter needed) and him dripping in flop sweat. Vivid, hilarious storytelling.
He has his own traveling podcast/show I follow with the weeks news that is funny called Lovett or Leave it.

Lovett's "A tale of two Grandpas" analogy was inspired. Appreciate and enjoy these guys and their podcast from England. They continue to keep me engaged and hopeful about American politics in particular.
Yes! TWO grandpas! It infuriates me that no one is talking Trump's age! EITHER one would be the oldest sitting President if elected. Trump is only 3 years younger & seems to be in worse health based on his weight, diet & coherence (compare his latest public appearances to those in 2016- he's definitely deteriorated). At least Biden assembles a very competent crew around him- if he were to become unable to perform his duties, I'd feel a whole lot more comfortable than with whatever goons Trump could manage to scrounge up to work with him.
I wish the Congress and Senate had more educated, smart ,intelligent and funny people as them. 👏

A big lesson from last night is that if Andy Beshear can win KY, a Trump +26 state, by more than 5 points then Sherrod Brown and John tester can definitely win in OH and MT next year and Joe Biden can definitely beat Trump. We should start organizing today by donating to candidates in competitive seats and start talking to our friends and family about what’s at stake next year and encourage them to vote.

Jon Lovett’s “Grampas” comparison was was simply perfect! That clip needs to go viral.
'A Tale of Two Grandpas' is a surprisingly astute, if chilling, read on the situation. Biden has flaws and makes mistakes, but he is reasonable and compassionate, so he sincerely works to find the best attainable path forward. Trump, on the other tiny hand, believes in nothing but himself and will violently deny reality with escalating fervor, whilst demanding ever increasing obedience and sacrifice - not only from those who oppose him, but from his most loyal followers. To paraphrase Hannah Arendt when she wrote about Totalitarian systems, Trump instinctively strives to "replace all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty" and yet even now, those colossal morons he engaged to try steal the election, are proving themselves insufficiently idiotic to maintain loyalty to this man. How long before a lobotomy becomes a prerequisite for working in a Trump Whitehouse? He certainly gives the impression of a man who would happily impose them on the public to eliminate scrutiny.
Trump has a big mouth and the criminals in the back ground don't like that. What you have written tells me you have a lot of reading to do.
I think what hurts Biden the most is he has such a diverse young administration .All the younger people are causing chaos in Congress when we need qualified experienced statesmen.

I don't hold Biden's advanced age against him implicitly, and neither will I entertain the idea that diversity or "youthful" engagement in politics is something to be derided. People can't fairly demand that the young grow up and take responsibility for the world they have inherited, and then blame them for their inability to resolve issues in the face of malicious obstruction from their seniors.

Emotional intelligence needs to be a presidential candidate job requirement not a preferred qualification. Obama was the most emotionally healthy leader the US has ever had, in my opinion. 😍

Lowest unemployment ever, chips made in America, rebuilding America's infrastructure, avoided the recession all the experts claimed we would be in now, gas prices coming down, handled COVID 19, relieving student debt in spite of the Republican obstruction, formed a coalition to help Ukraine fight Russian aggression, got a gun law passed in bipartisan fashion, Yes he should step down with a record like that
The only issue with Biden is the polarized and lazy media and the Dems ultra terrible communication (non-existent) strategy. They need to do marketing and communication the way Republicans do. And get way better communicators and surrogates out there talking about Biden. Like these guys 😍 🙏

Remember when people were saying they would vote for George W. because he was the one with whom they'd rather have a beer? Now we're being asked to consider which "grandpa we'd rather have over for Thanksgiving!" Good joke, maybe, John, but seriously this is a BIG DEAL. The question is who we'd prefer having literally the power of life and death over most of the world; a guy who doesn't even understand the question let alone care about his answer unless it makes him some money, and one with a long record of working for the wellbeing and peace of the world.
True and a lot of us get that but literally 30+% of the country need it broken down to these emotional concepts because logic doesn’t apply unfortunately. 😭

Pod Saves America talks democracy in a very educational way with a logic analysis along with a light funny words. It's so enjoyable and safe to listen for all ages, races and education levels. I borrowed some of the ways they talk about democracy to speak to some voters who don't understand neither English or democracy to help them not voting against their wills. Saving democracy is everyone's responsibility and I am in it.....
