Great review BC, covered all bases there. Excellent value. That area (Soi14) of Jomtien is really popular with Thais at the weekend so I would imagine the hotel gets a lot busier. I’m with you, that set breakfast, although cheap, looked a bit sad.
Thanks, Keef. Gotta say that area is pretty good. I used to rent a condo within walking distance of there and there's plenty of restaurants and activities. Thais love the fact they can park on the road next to the beach. Thanks for the comment
TJ Hooker springs to mind, but I guess it isn't a William Shatner themed hotel from the vlog🤣 Definitely seems at the quiet end of Jomtien. So I can understand them not doing buffet midweek. Great places along the beach though, especially for your beloved coffee 😉
That might be why it's the TJ Hotel then! I would have guessed the J stood for Jomtien. Maybe the T is from The!! Yes, some great coffee shops along beach road in Jomtien.
I preferred the previous hotel at the high price point. However, for the budget in the case, this hotel does indeed look like a decent option. It is certainly clean and well decorated enough.
Thanks, David. No doubt the previous hotel was far more luxurious. But debatable if it's worth paying almost 4 times as much if staying for a week or two. I'd be tempted to do the bulk of the hotel here then, finish up with a night or two of 5 star opulence!
Nice video as ever BC. It looked like at the very end you realised that you hadn’t tried any of the special fx things you’d just learnt about and felt an uncontrollable urge to show-horn them in! I used to go to jomtean often. I used to stay at a place which appears to have closed down now, Jomtien Gardens Hotel. It wasn’t anything special, just good at most things in a satisfactory way. I dunno if it’s still closed?
Thanks a lot Tony. Actually I still hate to see myself on camera so I do anything to distract from the fact. I'll get used to it! Can't remember the other hotel you mentioned. I'll keep an eye out for it next time I'm around Thanks again for comment!
Hello mate, another good informative clip. Nice clean and well presented room. Do you have a base or do you do the full digital nomad bit with no fixed abode.
Thanks, David. I do have a base, a cheap room in Pratumnak, but I'm in the process of moving back to Bangkok, where I lived for over 10 years. I think that will be a better base for my travels! 👍
@@balloonchaser Yeah i can see that, travel links etc. I have moved my relocation date back till after Xmas. But will def be in BKK end of Feb, keep the clips coming, so useful

nice review BC, have to say the receptionist was the yummiest thing there, but i doubt she is on the menu! the breakfast really wouldn't bother me as i prefer to get out for some walking and stop off for food somewhere along the seafront (apart from my early cup of Yorkshire tea that i bring with me) the room prices were very competitive but i bet they rise steeply in high season👍
Thanks, Tony. Coincidentally I was looking at this hotel for a friend who is arriving at the end of the month. It's currently around the 1,300-1.400 baht make. I don't think that's too bad given how prices have risen in general since I made the original video. On the down side, I have no idea what sort of staff turnover they've experienced or indeed who is in charge of ckeck-in these days!
I am staying next month in Jomtien, booked a room costing ten quid, yes a tenner, z by zing, if i dont like it i will just move. Will do a vlog on it🇬🇧
Hi Bigbopper. Yes, there was a bar restaurant place next to the swimming pool although it wasn't open at the time I filmed. I think it's the fact that Phil lives nearby that is keeping the prices so low...!
nice video thanks.. i really like to swim a lot on holiday..could you recommend a nice place with a large pool.. somewhere near or in pattaya ? cheers 🍻
Thanks! My best advice to you would be to look at Airbnb type condos, which also take daily and weekly bookings. My reason is that condos tend to have one or two larger pools more suitable for actual swimming. The hotels I know don't really have large pools. On a side note, I do quite like the rooftop pool at Siam@Siam hotel, soi 2 Pattaya. And you don't even have to stay there to use it!
It's a few months since I was there (and therefore not in high season), but all I can say is that I didn't see any when I was there. I found the staff friendly, and if it's important, I'd be tempted to phone and ask them about the current situation . Thanks.
@@balloonchaser Thank you for following up. That sounds like a great deal for a buffet. congradultaions on the 1k plus subscribers. Ball is rolling now.

@abitofeverything2254 I think we are still in high season, especially with Chinese New Year. Either way prices seem higher than when I went. This month 1350 baht seems the going rate.

Hi PFI. Yes, definitely one for any trip to Jomtien. It's got it all, except I'd want the buffet breakfast not the set menu!

Did the hotel have a bar ? Only problem I can see is that Phil lives around there. Otherwise looked good for the price.

Nice hotel and good location. Best so far for the price IMO. Brilliant

Does chinese (day-) tourists stay there (a BIG no go when looking for hotels) usually?

When I look for a hotel I anticipate the pool in total sun not just a hour of sun
Thanks, Peter. That's fair enough. It might be a bit different depending on the season, but that's what it was like when I went.
How far is it from soi 7 Jomtiem? A baht bus or 15 minutes walk ?
I don't think I could walk that distance in 15 minutes. It would have to be a baht bus or Bolt taxi for me The sois are quite far apart at that point
Is the buffet breakfast at weekend 150 baht also and do they allow walkin for breakfast
Thanks for the question, Leela. I'll message them to find out and update you here!
The hotel replied that walk-in (non resident) customers can pay for the buffet breakfast, price 150 baht on Saturdays & Sundays.
