Many of the "vintage" competitors are generic modern chassis with a racing pedigree, then a '50s body bolted on. I love that a car like this can still race.

I had a '53 5 window Chevy pickup. I also put a 292 in it. There were a lot people replacing their small 6's with 292's. So many that the auto parts store carried modified water pumps with a shortened pulley so the engine would fit.

Petrolicious is constantly guilty of this and although these faults are pointed out every video the sound department does not seem to care. The music in general could be deleted engine sound is all the music I need.
So cool i love it! I like how he daily drove it for 7 years! I daily drove a 63 galaxie for 10 years then a 63 fairlane for 7yrs. Then i drove a 67 plymouth sport fury for 4 yrs. I currently drive a 67 impala and have been for 5 years now! GM cars are the best!!!

I visited a hermit afterwards then explored a castle after all the bicycles rode past. 130 in that brick must have taken some engine mods but what an experience! Great video, with some of the most amazing backdrops in California and great story too.

That was Nacimiento-Fergusson road alright!And yes I was quite busy and rather concerned about my future as a racing driver while running flat out across the Mexican dessert!But I was clocked at 132mph by an open class car that came along side me before diapering over the horizon.Some of the open class cars where clocked at 177 mph.They are now speed limiting them via ignition limiters to 140....
James Eastwood Somehow I liked this guy's tone a lot--hit me the right way after all the others I'd been hearing--just real straight up and right atcha. Definitely liked how he covered as much ground as he did about the car and the racing he did. Spot on.

Saw a very similar looking car in Port Townsend Washington about 15 years ago. I used to have a picture of it, but those pics are locked inside a computer that died a while back. I seem to remember it being a mid 50's Olds,, but could it have been this car? I wonder if Drew Sidaris has ever been to Port Townsend?

G M 292 c i d in line 6 cyl is a bullet proof, virtually indestructible, commercial use, damn solid machine. Personally I'm true Ford blue oval. Plenty happy with 300 c i d In line 6 cyl. Same virtues as the 292. 130 m p h? These are both sturdy engines. Both will succeed enduring grueling strain.
Ok I stopped after like 30 seconds, this was impossible to watch. I remember Petrolicious videos to be nice and well made but the loud music now makes them simply irritating.

As Gary Boyd stated before, the music seems to become more annoying with every new video imho. Just plain unnerving. Sorry for that. The man, car, and story deserve to be heared I think.
Great video, and he obviously has many stories from his years building and racing it. I understand Petrolicious is trying to build a creative story, but I'd appreciate it if the music could stay in the background (and then only increase to the foreground when building within the drama of the story before subsiding). I'm not overly picky as I love most of your videos but this was a bit distracting.
Not sure I agree with him about the American cars qualified for the Mille Miglia. Chrysler, Olds and LaSalle have eligible models as well as Ford Model A and B.
I though Frazer Nash English? I missed his comment. Mille needs Pre 58 I think but do they only take certain pre-58s. I have a 1958 car, type is eligible but car is 1 year too old. (Never mind the other hurdles to enter such as the entry fee!)
