- Leslie West, with Jeff Martin and Rev Jones performing live at NAMM Jam 2011, sponsored by Dean Guitars and Ddrum.
This song is Never In My Life, with an intro of People Get Ready.
Aside from Windmill McDouchebag, this has to be one of Wests best performance of this song.
Dude that has to be the UA-cam comment of the year.. LMMFAO.
Felice Lococo lol thanks, he is the bass player that keeps the jokes relevant.
Windmill McDouchebag has spent too much time studying Billy Sheehan.
It would have been a bit more palatable if I could have heard the guy, and if the bass had a real good grind that backed up the guitar. It seemed to just dissipate as soon as the actual song kicks in.
🤣
wow, Leslie's voice is great here.
This might the best version of this song..I an a leslie fan since the 70s..West,bruce,laing was the pinnacle of leslie s career. Corky laing was powerful drummer always overlooked because of guys like bonham ..I felt corky had more punch live than bonham did..just my perception.. Mountain early 70s was unbelievable live..Felix corky and leslie, dont forget Steve knight he really added to the band..My musical life changed after seeing mountain live @ the long beach arena 1973. I had never seen that sorta live musicality before, never..Never in my life! Bless leslie as his talent and abilities change with age, and his disability ..leslie struggled herion addiction as did Jack bruce WBL was called the "Herion" band!! Thanks for the good times leslie and Jack, & Corky..
@gbrycki You are SO RIGHT Gbrycki. Im hearing tone from West I've just never heard before. West gets more out of a single note than most guitarists can get out of an entire song. Never fails to amaze.
that's why Guitar guru himself Warren Haynes Leslie's good friend called Leslie West "the BB King of Rock"
RIP leslie. 2020 has been a bad year all around. In this vid he sound EPIC! His singing and guitar tone and playing are incredible!
Leslie's voice and tone here was monumental and remincent of the early mountain days.
I remember the first time I heard Mountain and I knew within the first few minutes Mountain was truly a mountain of a band and a force to be reccongized.
One of the ABSOLUTE GREATEST vocalists ever... and add the guitar tone ..he was a giant of a musician.
Leslie West is the proof that less is BETTER !!!
Best Comment Award...Exactly...Don't need 3,000 notes per minute. Leslie and Billy Gibbons...
Somebody hand me the scissors quick!
Thanks for posting this! Leslie’s guitar tone has a bite very similar to his old Les Paul Junior from way back. Nobody can best him when it comes to distinguishable style and tone, except perhaps Tony Iommi, another living guitar god.
The other commentators are correct regarding the bass player - his “schtick” blows. Save the visual BS for Poison or another “D” level band.
Always the phenomenal showman. I saw him in mid 70's at the Scope in Norrfolk - dude totally rocked it...
Leslie was literally the biggest mother f’n sheet kicker guitarist of the rock n. Roll era.
R.I.P. Leslie West......
4:58 I kept waiting for Leslie to stop the show, look at the bass player and say, "What do you think you're doing?"
Thank you VERY much for posting this! Leslie is playing and sounding GREAT these days! My ultimate favorite guitarist!
Great Stuff. He deserves so much more credit.
Somebody please let A Flock Of Seagulls know we found their list bass player.
Never in My Life w/ The Helicopter on bass
This tune is in the soundtrack of my life. Peace
"Nuthin' like a free show..right??"..classic performance from Leslie
I wonder if Leslie told the tech to turn the "bass player's" sound off 🤔 !! LW's tone was always Epic and this is one of my fav versions. Felix would sound super with that fuzz bass next to LW here!
Idiot bass player
Love feedback/sustain
Leslie is in fine voice and form here, kicking it out! Too bad about Rev's thinking that his hair twirling was even remotely cool (especially at a NAMM show). RIP Leslie.
not only that the dipstick couldnt even play!!! i could tell leslie was pissed !!!
Knowing the New York reputation of Leslie West I would bet that Leslie wanted to have the bass player wacked and thrown in the Jersey Dump with the rest of the garbage. However, Leslie maintained and played his heart out as always. RIP Great One.
Leslie worked with Rev. Jones quite a bit throughout the years. The Windmill must not have bothered him. The drummer forgot his cowbell!
There'll never be another one this fuckin great!!! Tone plus less is so much more. Miss ya Les
Wow... goosebumps.
Nice work Rev & Jeff!! Leslie is a legend!!!..Axe
nice work rev and jeff?? you need to clean your ears !!!!
NO ONE had or has the Tone and Power that Leslie did when he was on Stage. His Vocal here, is quite good!
Sgt.j. Wow!
Should subtitle this Leslie gets annoyed at the Zippy dude.
"Nothing like a free show"
RIP Leslie West
Don't you mean Zippy Pinhead in real life?
Tone monster mr.West.RIP SIR.
That’s closed a book for me RIP Mountainman🌋👁🌋
@kennyplay It's also a happy day that he is still alive!
RIP Leslie xo
Great once it gets going
Oh, my word...
Leslie West always has a fat juicy guitar tone and always got the juice out of every note he played
🥰😍🤠❤
Wait is it me or is the bass player at the wrong show. His actions are od.just sayin.
Helicopter Head is really annoying.
Ohhh, HOT!!! Best show at NAMM. REAL ROCK. Ever wonder where have all the Rock Gods gone?
They've gon but for One. The one from the West.
2 valid points:
1) remove 2 strings from the bass.
2) stop with the bass theatrics
a friggin sad day.. On June 20, 2011 West had his lower right leg amputated as a result of complications from diabetes.
Great
Les in good shape, singing it out, To bad about the bass and drums..
Yeah that why Schenker booted him from MSG.Because "Rev is the best" Mr. Jones should learn that, or go back to playing with the Funky Five Booty Jive. LOL
don't think i've ever seen anyone play bass like that with an overhand on the frets technique. Have you?
more than anything its a show trick. great bassist and entertainer. maybe more of an entertainer than a bassist. i couldn't really hear the guy
MouNTiaN
Weed Me
Who’s tellecompter 😬
Alright dude the more I watch the weirder you become.STOP IT GIDDAMN IT.
When your covering a Felix song, you should try and show some respect.
Jesus christ, start the f'n song already!
The bass player is so annoying to watch. He`s not adding anything imo
bass player is .....too high....just too much
What makes the bass player think that this show is about him? The obnoxious prancing and the "hey look at how cool I am" haircut are bad enough, but then to swing it around for the entire performance is just disrespectful to Leslie West. Save cool for what you can actually do. Not the uniform you wear. And from what I heard, you don't do that very well.
Uh...Jeff Martin plays drums, not bass.
@@zublacus Thanks for the heads up.
Awful.
