Please Forgive Me Lyrics:
Please forgive me
If I act a little strange
For I know not what I do
Feels like lightning
Running through my veins
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you
Help me out here
All my words are falling short
And there's so much I want to say
Want to tell you just how good it feels
When you look at me that way, ah
When you look at me that way
Throw a stone
And watch the ripples flow
Moving out across the bay
Like a stone I fall into your eyes
Deep into that mystery, ah
Deep into some mystery
I got half a mind
To scream out loud
I got half a mind to die
So I will never have to
Lose you girl
Won't ever have to say goodbye
I won't ever have to lie
Won't ever have to say goodbye
Whoa I
Whoa I
Whoa I
Please forgive me
If I act a little strange
For I know not what I do
Feels like lightning
Running through my veins
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you

when i was young my dad used to play david gray in the car alot. The past ten years he suffered from MND the worst possible disease there is and sadly he passed away a few days before my 21st birthday a few years ago. today on the 19th of december is his birthday and ive only just come across these songs again for the first time since those car rides. in absolute tears right now typing this, i know for sure ill be in the car one day, with my kids in the back listening to these beautiful songs thinking about him.
I'm sorry to intrude , I'm a listener I always have been , I've got not long to live I wish I was drunk and it wasn't real
@guntervonhagen1485 I'm sorry for your situation, mate. Jesus Christ is our only hope. Seek him while you still have time. Blessings.
@@iiidaddylonglegsiii thank you for your reply so much, I have cjd , I worked in abattoirs since I was 12
@@guntervonhagen1485 Hey mate, thanks for your response. I had to look up what CJD was... that is rough to say the least. If you don't have a bible get one asap. Start with the gospels (matthew, mark, luke and John). If we are right with God we no longer have to fear death. I will be praying for you daily.
❤❤❤
Brilliant song . White Ladder , in my opinion , is one of the best albums released in the past 25 years .
ThefightingCelt I bought this album and still play it a lot. A great album, that's for sure
The album just hit its 20th anniversary and David is going to celebrate it by touring the album one more time and releasing a remastered version with unreleased tracks and demos :) Support the legend that is David Gray
Yup
Amen
The fightingcelt.Totally agree white ladder album is superb and dead in the water album.
A guy used to sing all Grays songs in a VIP area of a club in Accrington, Piano and all..... He was superb! My wife and I found the place after we decided to give our 7yr marriage another go. Divorce cancelled..... We celebrated our 25th silver wedding anniversary last October. Thanks in part to you Mr Gray 👍
Fantastic - forgiveness and Vunerability lead to deeper love ❤️
Nice ❤
Great story. I'm happy you guys made it through that rough period.
Yeah another guy I know sang just like David Gray... brilliant vocalist...
Nice my friend....nice...im going on 24 yrs married now and this song is a classic like always.
I feel like this era was the end of the simpler times, where people hadn't gone completely insane in an online world.
Totally agree
They were just as insane internally but the internet gave us all a platform to show our shadow side.
Nostalgia, back when the world wasn't quite as shit.
agree
It's not that the world wasn't shit; it's that you've become more aware
Haha. The worlds always been shit, buddy. Be lucky that the West is in control (I’m assuming you live in a western corporate subsidized country)...
It’s not that the world is shit. It’s your view that is shit.
Be selfish, fuck the rest of the world and do what you want, make yourself happy
Right
"SCRUBS" forever in our hearts!
Right, best soundtrack show along with House MD
He didn't sell his soul to those in control of the industry....
That's why we don't hear his music much any more...My utmost respect that he chose his family ❤
Didnt know that Anna, played his stuff endlessly at one point about 18 years ago, always wondered what happened with him. Dont need a follow up after those songs though, perfect for me at that time x
@@andylowe5491 sorry only just saw your message....I saw him a few years back in Birmingham symphony Hall, he was still epic...😍
his music never really came close to the standard of White Ladder again to be honest.
Anna achucourtney I think he did. His surname is Grey. There’s no grey area with God. He’s serving the darkness. He’s serving Lucifer.
He sold out his drummer that was his soul
This man is a treasure….. typing this comment from Jamaica 🇯🇲… love his work
David Gray is a wildlife ambassador these days, top man 👌🎧😎🎧❤️
I love how one song can create so many different memories for people

@@svarovka 🔥❤🔥
Yup
Rachel S so true
For sure dublin in summer for me
I heard this song at a pub when I’d taken myself on a trip to think about my marriage. This song came on as soon as I walked in and I knew they tune but didn’t really pay attention to the words but I knew it was speaking to me. So I tried to find it later when I got back to my hotel but couldn’t remember any of the words so only had the tune in my head. So I prayed to God that he’d help me find the name of this song. On the last night of my stay I went back to that pub and I met a girl there who I had a drink with and we talked for ages about our lives and she said she loved music so I hummed her the tune and she said that’s David gray so I looked him up on UA-cam and it was this song! Then I went back to my hotel and really listened to the words and it was as if God led me to this song to give me hope that my marriage would survive. Thank you God and David for writing this beautiful and powerful song. I have hope again
The memory of the girl you loved so much but it was not mean't to be. Comes flooding back when ever I hear this.🥰🥰😘
ow! you have to remind me of the lightning.
From limewire to today. Singing to my 2 month old in my arms. 2024
Feels like lighting running through my veins. I remember thinking that watching my daughter growing up...such a great song.
I'm glad you shared that with us.......
This too was I when I looked at my daughter in her hospital crib!! For the first time that we were introduced formally!! I just watched her for hours even though I was so so tiered from bringing her into this world.
So right ❤️
Good stuff Bro
Yes sir☺️🙏 well said
This just produced a memory from 2006.
I was in bed during a week or so of depression. My then 7 year-old daughter knocks on the bedroom door. I considered pretending to be asleep as I was ashamed of being seen by her like that. Anyway, I can't remember if I answered but she comes in with drawing of a flower or a tree I think and says she drew it for me. I'm trying not to well up as she tells me she loves me and wraps her arms around my neck while snuggling into me. I tell her I love her too, just about managing to form the words with my eyes brimming. She then climbs off the bed and gently closes the door. I barely hear her tiptoe away. I sobbed at how much my heart ached due to the thought of being less of a father than she deserved! I'm just about holding it together as I write this! 😭
Beautiful
God that's just what I felt the other week your bot alone trust me❤😂
Keep pushing fella 💪🏻
I hope you have healed from your dark state mate it's not an easy journey through this life but there are lots of things to keep you going just like this beautiful moment and many more when you can keep going. Best wishes and keep strong.
This is beautiful this is love ❤
Anyone here in 2024? 🙂
I come back here from time to time :)
2/19/24- Yes, watching Scrubs S1 Ep1, J.D. first time on call.
I still vividly remember walking in the door of the Cardiac Rehab Clinic my first day as an Exercise Physiology, intern. As soon as I got through the door, the Cardiac Nurse introduced herself and told me to get all the patients' BP, hooked up to ECG telemetry, and start warmup. I froze like a deer in headlights, just like J.D. in rounds and thought, "EVERYONE IS GOING TO DIE!" Right after that thought, I was snapped back to reality by the sound of laughter coming from the room beside me. It was a full setup. Everyone knew I was coming. The nurse blasted me with that one knowing full well that it would paralyze me so she could run in and tell the others in the other room. They were still laughing as they introduced themselves to me. The nurse told me I passed. If I had pretended I knew exactly what to do, that would have been a bad sign. Rule#1: Never Fake It. Thus began the hazing. By the end of my internship, I was runnin'the show and, on the side, made an Excel workbook that crunched metabolic and workout data. That made for much more efficient planning and charting.
That show and this song takes me back to all those unforgettable moments.
I was here in 1998
here all the time
Yes I'm still here
David Gray could do no wrong in my opinion. Saw him live once, an absolute privilege. The man is a musical hero
same Steve. saw him only one time but that show was pure magic.
Class song this
Agreed
He would if he hung out with me. Lol
scrubs didn't bring me here. What brought me here is that when I was a child me and my father would drive miles on end up to London because my mother left my father, he used to listen to David Gray a lot because it reminded him of her. That's what brought me here, the love my father has for my mother, just so you know they're together now and have been for 18 happy years.
+Joe Reaney (ScaryJOE99) How beautiful ! I'm smiling.
+Teresa Steele who knew JAMIE OLIVER was such a good singer as well !! just having a laugh here keep smiling LUV!!
Wonderful.
Beautiful story. Much love to you and your family.
love stumbling across these comments when I'm fishing for tunes 👍👍👍
One of the only albums that no song gets skipped ...love David Gray❤
hadn't heard this song for 20 years until today and it bought a tear to my eye
peace and love man
Same for me mate I've got cancer of my jaw, love peaceful music like this
@@guntervonhagen1485 hey man I’ll keep you in my thoughts in prayers. I hope your able to take some time to heal and get back to livin soon
@@OneManCanStopTheMotorOfWorld thank you mate, everything happens for a reason
years ago when I broke up with my partner at the tender age of 17 I listened to this album heartbroken. we got back together had 16 wonderful years a son together a dog together and he went and died on me! so now I am listening to this again with what I now know to be a true broken heart. 💔💔
Sorry, life hurts.
Teri Robertson so sad take care x
God Bless you Teri, Whats beautiful about your story is you will one day be together, Just remember this he,s right by your side always and forever xx thinking about you
I'm so sorry for your loss but so glad you had 16 wonderful years. He will forever be a part of you... He planted a flag in your heart that will always be there. Sending you love and good vibes from the Midwest!
Sorry for your loss, but congratulations it sounds like you had a great 16 years with someone. Nothing is forever even if someone is alive. Remember the good memories. He will always be with you...
When my dad dies 21 years ago i used to listen to this song through a tough time in my Life, more incredible to listen to it today 2024 🏴☠️🇩🇰🙏🏽
If you're here, you have impeccable taste!
Playing pool with my mates on a Friday night, everyone knew the words . Life was great 👍
This is hands down one of the best albums produced in the past 20+ years amazing
Who are the 1.2K people who lost interest in their life that Thumbed down this diamond?
I played this album non stop when I was at home with two beautiful children and realised I was trapped in a toxic marriage it saw me through the hardest of times .
If being trapped in a 'toxic' marriage is a price you must pay to raise kids in a two-parent household, then you do that.
You're the one who picked the man.
You make the best of it until those kids are raised.
@@Skindoggiedog Nonsense advice. All proper research shows children are better of away from tension and conflict or lovelessness.
What does research say about single mother households? When it comes to criminals and predators? I know do you?
Toxic women no good best thing is get out of it all the best
@Skindoggiedog yeah then those kids are raised seeing a toxic relationship believing its normal, thats what love looks like!
Thee shittest advice I think I've ever read 🤦♀️
Had a midlife crisis at 33 yrs old. it's time to slow down a bit for me. I hope everyone can gracefully transition into older age so they don't have to crack, break and be rebuild like I did. Mental break downs are very difficult but we can always look to Jesus on the other side of life waiting to keep us.
Haven't heard / watched this for ages. Its fucking beautiful.....
this song sums up the early 2000s.
What gets me about this song is that it’s full of joy but also desperate pain. It feels like it’s about someone he adores but knows in the end he can’t have - ‘I’ve got half a mind to die, so I won’t ever have to lose you, won’t ever have to say goodbye...’
this is happing to me right now.
David Gray was a brilliant cure for the Grunge hangover. This song made me want to be a romantic again.
i feel twice alive
with this song.
Ditto
This is a timeless classic, listening to this in 2020,can I say this is better than 99% of the music that’s playing now on the radio stations...
My wife and I’s wedding song. Still mad in love 15 years later. I picked this cos the words are perfect.
man this song is so simple, yet so amazing
I think those drum fills are pretty complex. In fact, part of what I love so much about this song is the complex and almost manic drums in comparison with apologetic, slower, and simple melody sung by David Gray. It captures the anxiety, the regret, and the excitement. It's painfully sobering all the way through. And it's easily one of my favorite songs.
Louis S, that's why he's so great 👍
@@madmanswhispers True, that said the song is pretty simple, especially the parts that David himself as brought and simple is absolutely a compliment in this context as far as I'm concerned, as all of the best songs off this album are really simple and yet they are some of the best songs ever written, I've spent a long time trying to make a simple love song as good as this guy and I have failed at every turn so maybe it isn't so simple after all.
This mans' voice is absolutely unique deep beautiful probably the best voice i have ever heard. I love him
He sounds decidedly Dylanesque.
2020 still unbelievable song wow wow wow
Still one of the best songs of all time I love you David gray this is how true love feels🍾💙❤️
That's a great way to put it. Offbeat, yet in beat. Chaotic yet with perfect timing. Upbeat sound with sad deep lyrics. It's exactly like the whirlwind that is new love. This is a very meaningful song to me.
i remember this from car rides with my mom. it was sometime in the 00s, i'm not sure. i just remember this song & all the lights of birmingham flashing past my window. it's amazing how it takes me right back.
takes me back to the 2000's good old days and this song makes me sad and at the same time happy.
Trips to college and back home for me. Great times.
it is amazing hey, all that comes rushing back at the speed of light, my mum played this cd on repeat for years back in the early 2000's as well.
Couldn't be more accurate, this song takes me back to my mums car as well. Must be mum music hahah
Same here!! My mom used to play it in the car alllll the time, this song and Babylon. I remember sitting in my car seat with my twin sister on the other side of the car. Crazy how time flies, this song vividly takes me back :(
No TV programs just great music from a great musician
Listen to that drum
When that guitar kicks man the feels every time
My Shawna and I would cruise around to this cd. Love it and her. Hard to listen to it since I lost her in a car accident in 2001. Still love this cd and her though, David Gray rocks!
They are waiting for you on the other side of the test we call life
Alan Macnaughton
I hope so.

RIP Shawna. Stay strong and live a life that would make her proud of you.

White ladder was in evey house we partyed at and was always everyones fav.
Im in SCOTLAND BUT ON MY TRAVELLING DAYS WHICH I RECALL EVERY PLACE THAT I RESTED FROM PORT ARANSAS TEXAS TO THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA ID HEAR THIS MAN
Used to sing this whole album, word for word. My memory is singing it in the back of a tiny Fiat Uno car van as me and a mate drove two birds we met in the pub back to a party. Plenty of anthems on this album for those carefree times. 😄 Gray was unbelievably popular in Ireland back then.
David this is still my favorite track from you mate, your an amazing musician!
I was a single Dad. Brought up 3 daughters, so I've had an interesting life.
There is something really naked in this that cuts thru the grist mate.
Without doubt my most favourite song of all time
Was a complete rock bottom . This song found me . This song saved me for some crazy reason . God bless and Thankyou mr gray
Good.God bless
Only 1 person on my mind when I hear this song. I don’t deserve your forgiveness no matter how much time goes on, but just know I really am sorry and would change everything if I could. You’re always on my mind !
white ladder was too perfect. its hard to top that. still waiting for another classic album
Please forgive me
If I act a little strange :)
For I know not what I do
Feels like lightning
Running through my veins

I would like to thank my Uber driver for unknowingly introducing this song to me
If you lived in the 90s and don’t know a few David gray songs u probably lived under a rock 🪨 great songs
My dad had the album on CD,we would always sing it together in the car. Bliss.
OCD this song on repeat to Utah and California. Back and forth. Justin White
Can't believe this song is 20 years old !!!
Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands and artists such as David Gray and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily.
Thank you. The music is the only thing is British can still be proud of
Junior year in college, I studied abroad in Spain. This album was the soundtrack to my time there. Whenever I put on White Ladder, I'm flooded with nothing but great memories. Thank you David, not only for this amazing album, but decades of great music. You are loved, and appreciated by so many!
I remember seeing him play a small intimate gig in a club off regent street, he was just starting to get some radio air time. We stood on the balcony almost standing over the top of him, it was an amazing gig and an experience I’ve never forgotten.
This song reminds me of my dad, just like all David Gray songs.
Jesus, I’m 20 & I can and can’t believe I haven’t been blessed with this song sooner.
Ocean Gray. This song is as old as you.
when i was young, my dad played david gray all the time, he even sang this song in krakow with me in his arms, the most precious memories 😀
We all should forgive , as it releases us from all suffering ,that goes for all of us 🥰😇🙃
U can say that again.
“Throw a stone and watch the ripples flow, moving out across the bay”
Gets me every time that line.
COME ON DAVE WERE YOU HIDING THESE DAYS YOUR VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL AN SO ARE YOU.
7 yrs ago I was struck by lightning in my backyard swimming pool out in Kansas. This song reminds me of the nurse who brought me back to health and would give me a forehead kiss every night after she bathed me and took me to the toilet. She would hum this song and I always think of her now when I hear it.
omg sammmeee but i was in kathmandu when this happened to me. Will always remember my nurse playing this song to get me thru it. Thank you Kavya will always remember u
@@superstageAC Thank you Sylvia LeBlanc!
white ladder is one of those rare albums that doesn't have a throwaway track on it.
Scrubs introduced me to a lot of great songs. Idk JD is like TVs most relatable character even if you are not a doctor.. My favorite and one of the best written shows. I'm not embarrassed to admit that show introduced me to music I may of never discovered otherwise.
so true
I miss Scrubs more than any tv show ever, Not many non stop sarcasm filled programs also had so many emotional scenes, Great writing
Chase Jenks it's good that you're not ashamed of finding this music through scrubs... .It's not about how you got here but your nice taste that made you stay.
Great music, scenes to make you laugh, scenes to make you cry... Man I miss Scrubs too!
same tho
Love the lyric, "feels like lightning runnin through my veins." When you sing @ me that way....Strongest male lyricist I ever heard. Gray is still the best....especially love the musical stanza deep into that mystery...he is so good to listen to, it almost hurts sometimes from the beauty he sings...
I love this song.
I can’t even explain what this song has done for me 🥲
David, you are wonderful. You heal my heart whenever I listen to you. Thank you.
David Gray was so underrated in 90s early 2000s what a voice man.....
He was a legend in Ireland at that time
Thanks for this treasure. I hadn't heard of him ever. Now his songs live on.
I've listened to him for yrs the man's amazing.
Love that daft dance he does when he's acting "a little strange". His easy going personality shines thru in this vid
Just discovered this guy last week and I'm digging it
FIGHTTHETEMPLES takes me wayyyyy back, true genuine artist. Won't have another like him ❤
Lucky you
You're a bit late to the party there Crouching Moron, never mind, better late than never. Also, check out the excellent Josh Rouse, 'Nashville' is a good album to begin with.
Digg in man this man is the business Tim .
A peace song bk wen things were heavy....BELFAST WILL ALWAYS BE HERE..
The only David Gray album I've bought......this song hit me hard.... absolutely class album and this one the best of them all....
Fcking I just realized this makes me old ffs
Timeless, and I never get sick of it. I can listen to endlessly. If I was on a desert island and could only take one album, this would be it.
Memories with my dad as a kid driving along listening to David gray albums everytime I hear his songs shivers go through me
likewise brother. let me guess youre in your early 30s... ?
He dropped this at the end of my yokie days 😢😢it hit hard.
Over the years I’d be talking to some new girl and inevitably I’d pull the ole….send her this song and a “thinking about you. Thank you David Gray we did alright from time to time lol #grayassist
I fall in love with this song each and every time I hear it.
Loved it when it was out and listening in 2021 with a big smile on my face

What an album
He refinanced his house to get it made
Amazing
