Guiza came here as a record transfer for Fenerbahce (for 14 million euros) and he missed so many sitters that he basically turned into a meme. I still think that he was okay in the 2 seasons he played regularly (08-09, 09-10) (even though he was missing many many chances he was great at finding them) and in the season he rarely played he brought Fenerbahce the championship with that goal where he came as a substitute against Bucaspor in 10-11. He was a very emotional player and after the goal he scored against Bucaspor he cried due to what he has gone through in the last 2-3 seasons with Fener. (missing many goals, turning into a meme, demoted to being the 3rd striker of the team)

However, Fenerbahce centred their their team around Alex, who was the classic enganche. And it didn't quite work well. On top of that, Aragones was the manager of Fenerbahce back in 2009. I guess he had a bit of affection towards Guiza.

Playing striker in Turkey is harsh, when you think about it, he scored about 15 goals in each season, but that team was really efficient in the upfront and Guiza lacked clinical abilities to utilize the potential. When a Süper League newcomer forward struggles to finish chances, the first thing people will say is 'This guy's kinda like Guiza, talented but can't finish that much' I still can't imagine that this is the guy who was second only to Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 Golden Boot.
Didn't know about this guy. I guess La Liga has had such prominent strikers from all around the world that you end up bypassing the names of the local talents.
