- This is for those wanting to get there driver sliding door opening if it wont by remote or switch, and stays locked and only beeps. This video shows another way to bypass the Fuel Door safety switch without having to remove all the rear panels to reach the connections(lazy method), this can be a temporary bypass or permanent hack, also helps troubleshoot to make sure the fuel door switch is the cause of the problem
Credit to Bundy's Garage for showing what the connection looks like and giving me an idea where to locate it without fully removing all the panels:

Thanks for the shout out! I'm glad it helped you fix your door! Just make sure the driver's side door does not get opened when you are filling up the gas, otherwise the door will jam the fuel door. Nice video! I had to replace the switch because I have little kids that jump in and out all the time, especially when we are at the gas station. They are running in to get smokes and road beer's!
yea I would of considered changing the switch If I had to deal with that also but mines mainly gonna be moving and bringing merch for my business.
You absolutely rock! This was exactly what I needed, thank you so much
This was the video i needed!! Thank you so much!?!? I was thinking it was the power door motor n then i see this video. It was a pain in the butt to pull it but once i did it went back to working! Thank you onc again for this video!
Thanks for the video, it helped me solve my problem.
Thanks for the vid I try it out today and yes took times to fit my arm and pull it now my door works
Glad it worked out
Thanks! Same symptoms: Upon manual unlock, door immediately locks itself; attempt to open door gives beep-beep-beep. Turn door switch on dashboard to "off", door can be opened & closed manually (with muscle), but still beep-beep-beep. However, the problem in my case was: missing plastic piece (on fuel door) that pushes down the sensor plunger/button. For 2005-2010 Odyssey, part number 74391-S0X-A01. Well under $10 to get part from Honda dealer. Whew.
Thank you soo much
Video would of been perfect if you added that you may have to remove plastic lining to expose sensor.
I was unable to disconnect my sensor this way, couldn’t maneuver my hand through there to get a grip on the connector. My 04 EX-L has a/v connectors in the arm rest and I was able to pop that portion off the arm rest and underneath was the fuel door sensor connector…right within reach!
I'm trying to get to this part as well. So you opened the panel that shows the a/v connectors and prayed the whole arm rest off using a screwdriver? Any tips for doing it without damaging it?
Thanks for sharing this video
Thank you
Good reminder,👍
If you can get it to pull all the way out and press the release it’s super easy for ladies like me
Accident in progress. Replace the defective part and save the fuel door damage.
Was it by any chance draining your battery? Cause just recently my door stopped working and than all of suddenly my battery died and than I bought a new battery and it was died too.
I just did this work-around yesterday, and will let you know how it goes (so far today, the battery is fine); my battery was draining down in like 2-3 days. The issue of the door not opening has been going on for months, but I usually have the switch set to Off, until I want to open them, so I think that masked the parasitic drain problem for a while. In the meantime, I put on one of my battery disconnect switches, and disconnected it each time I came home, giving me time to troubleshoot the actual issue, as some say A/C Condenser relay, or door relays are the source of the drain. I saw on the Ody forum that others also had a door-locking problem, and found that when they removed/replaced the fuel door sensor, that the battery drain problem was solved as well....I'll know soon enough!
Well, a few more days have gone by, with the van sitting, so the alternator is not recharging it, and I am happy to say that the battery has lost no charge! I'm now confident that the parasitic drain source has been eliminated!

Where can I buy the switch?
Yes it fuel switch sensor ! I took my to honda and pay $175 to find that out
would that sensor also cause your fuel door not to open?
no that sensor only tells sliding door not to open door is open, the sensor has no way of keeping door closed,
Well your door open, if you try opening it with the handle asking cuase I don't have a remote
after fixing it will open with door handle or switch on dash. Before fix it would not open from handle and would beep like it was locked, would have to manually unlock it and force door open as motor would not engage to open it. after the fix, it would open via inner and outter door handle with electric assist of motor
