I am so thankful for this video as a busy mom of 3. My husband is out of town for a few weeks and the kids need the right door for school pick up and drop off. I have no knowledge of van parts or labor but followed along with this video and successfully fixed my slide door. Honda part was easy to order (72521-SHJ-A21 left center slide door) and arrived within a few days. I don't know how much money this diy fix saved me but I'm sure I saved some money and time in the auto shop. Project took me 1 hr to complete with novice skills. Thank You!

This 65 year old Grammy is very thankful to you for this excellent video. Followed all instructions. Only snag was dropping one of the doors when I went to move it out and it slipped off the jack. PopPop to the rescue and we got in back in all three tracks! Finished up and doors are working smoothly! Grammy van fixed! Thank you!

Excellent Instruction. I have spent over $1000 at Honda dealership and a few hundred at our trusted local mechanic with ZERO lasting improvements. I followed this video and replaced rollers on both doors and all our problems (dead battery, door not operating, random beeping, etc.) stopped. My wife was so pleased. Advice, make sure you are working on a flat surface (ie NOT your typical slanted driveway). Second, if you don't have a pro floor jack secure your Odyssey jack to scrap plywood or 2x4's so it doesn't fall over when the door is moving around. Finally, I used tie down straps looped through the top of the door and roof rack and I was glad a did because I didn't anticipate the door "falling" out from some of the tracks. All is well that ends well and the second door was much easier. Thank you again KIT'S Auto and Truck Repair.

Great video! thanks for saving me over $1000 (2 estimates). It took me 30 minutes - definitely disconnect the battery right before removing the rollers, so the cables don't accidentally disappear if you accidentally trigger the door to open. Great detail on the detachment and reattachment of the cables - for me the reattachment was the toughest part. An extra pair of hands might help attach the cable. when reattaching the cable, make sure the rollers are are as close to the track as possible to get as much slack as you can possibly get.

OK. I just successfully completed this repair. Thanks!! However, when you pull the door out to remove the hinge, be careful that the door doesn't come out of its upper track, which happened to me. A little too vigorous on moving it away from the van. Be very gentle and move it just slightly. I used some tie-down straps and a handy 19 year old daughter to get it back in. The straps ensures the door doesn't fall very far away, which might be a good safety idea anyway. Just leave enough slack to make sure everything moves the way you describe in the video.

Good video! Not that it has anything to do with the problem or repair, but I don't use the handles on my sliding doors. Just another thing to break. I use the electronic button on the dashboard to open and the same or the on button inside frame of the sliding doors to close. Now 212,000 miles on my Odyssey and no door problems yet.

You are a master genius teacher who every one can learn every detail plus each little little part to look for and how to give interest of working on it I got it from you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart I will try to make it with my young daughter because yesterday while we were closing the sliding door it won't slide to close so my daughter pull it backward so she can push to close. And suddenly the door fell out and we tied with rope and it took 5hrs to make it look better. Hope me and my daughter will it out. Thanks again.

Hi Deo...Greetings from North Carolina!...thank you so very much for posting this detailed description of how to repair the sliding door on the Honda Minivan...ours has 185k miles and is still going strong...just occasionally needs some repair to continue being a "really useful van"....I thought I'd be facing a $600-$800 repair paying a shop to fix our sliding door, but with your video I had the confidence to tackle the job on my own...just $65 for a the part and a few hours of labor and we are back with a working door. Thanks Again!
