@@larsgottlieb Hi Lars, I'm doing great thank you for your concern, I'm working on some stuff in the background and its taking some time but I expect to get back into the flow of things soon. Thank you again.
Driving into my neighborhood the other day I saw a squirrel running from a yard into the street. I started drifting left to allow him time to realize his mistake. "What are you doing," my wife asked. "Maneuvering in relation to the bandit," I replied. The squirrel bugged out without incident. Love the content, GS. Keep up the good work!
I'm quite interested to see how Naval Air combat would be. Air to Air over water would be a lot harder because no terrain to hide. Would be nice to see how that would work!
Great video Sir! We did a squadron thing last weekend, and we could not carry Fox1s, but at the end of the evening I got a lock on warning and a lauch warning, I did not know if it was a FA-18C or a F-14 but I dumped my 3 tanks and ran away - found myselfe doing Mach 1.2 on the ground..and it saved my pink butt - I love the Mirage F1!!!!
Man, what a video. I got to 'learn' how the newer jets behave thanks to you and watching a ton of your videos lately.. but fights with these planes are just another story.. great video man, appreciate all the uploads. Much love
The F1 is certainly cool looking. Visibility is not the best, but you get use to it. You are right, she gets friendlier in the turn with less fuel, but I still struggle with maintaining the turning circle.
I find the Mirage F 1 to be a very interesting plane. My dad (red air "instructor") is learning to fly the Mirage f 1, which he says is one of the most difficult things he's done having to go from imperial measurements to metric measurements and US instruments to old French Instruments. The planes actually have a very similar paint job to the one in this video... I'd love to see more F 1 content!
I would doubt this if I didn't see Mirage F-1's participating in Northern Lighting this year (basically a much smaller Red Flag and based out of Wisconsin instead of Arizona)
@@evangalinsky2499 Look up Draken International. They have A4 Skyhawks and Mirage F 1s at Kinston NC, where my dad works. Great fight! Back not too long ago when the F-1 came out, you did a video with it versus a period(ish) Viper, and the Viper was just on another level. Do you think this EE variant would put up much of a better fight? I'd like to see that if possible.
Early Vipers lacked BVR capability and despite having similar flight characteristics were overall MUCH less capable than later AMRAAM slinging Vipers. Assuming that it was not up against a block 15 ADF that had AIM-7s, the Viper's lack of ANY ability to engage BVR would put it at a significant disadvantage vs a Mirage F-1 EE. However if it evades the Super 530 missiles then things are even at the head-on Fox 2 approach and at the merge the Viper's ability to load up to six AIM-9s give it the clear edge. TLDR, fight the early Viper BVR and do not let it get close. If the 530s miss, then run.
Back in early 1982 ( the entrance in service of the Spanish Mirage-F1EE ) the current version of the F-16 was the F-16A without BVR missiles, only with AIM-9L's, without decent IFF, with 25.000 lbs of thrust ( instead of the 29.000 lbs of the "Viper" ). As far as I know the Super Matra 530F was available since 1978 and was fully compatible with the French Mirage-F1C's, much earlier than the entrance in service of the Mirage-F1E ( export version ). The French upgrade of the aircraft was designated as Mirage-F1CT, it featured an engine with a 4% higher thrust. The radar of the Mirage-F1E ( Cyrano-IVM ) has the same air-to-air performance as the radar of the Mirage-F1C ( Cyrano-IV ). The new version has upgraded air-to-ground capabilities with CCIP and CCRP modes, somehow less affected by the clutter, with some look-down capability and the facility of carying laser pods to operate the AS-30L air-to-ground missile.
With the new missiles, it could be fun to see a redo of the F-16 vs Mirage F1 video where the F-16 only has fox 2 missiles. As I understand it, the variant of the Mirage F1 the Iraqis had was one of the most modern versions of the aircraft.
I work for a company that owns F-1 Mirages. Our F-1s always do red air missions with the F-35s. I would love to see the F-1 and the F-35 clash together on your channel!!

It's interesting that DCS has more French flyables that IL2 ever had. I'll never understand why the D.520 never made it into IL2. Thanks for posting this, GS!
As a suggestion I would like to see another F-15 vs Mig-31 Foxhound bvr but with the Aim-120D’s on the F-15, see if they can give some leverage to the fight.
I got the best results with the F1 by tapping the combat flaps for the tightest part of the turn. too long and you get problems keeping/gaining speed again
I'm playing the Equilibrium campaign right now, and this plane is a true blast !! And the EE will make it even better. I really can't wait for his release.
The Matra Super 530 was the first proper BVR for the IAF with the Mirage 2000H, the MiG-23ML had BVR missiles, but they were not considered really good.
I think it would be interesting to do a dogfight over some mountains, but have cloud partway up them, would make it tense when trying to cash in energy

Hey, and thank you, ya and their radar is honestly garbage (compared to the F1). if they had managed to get offensive in the rate fight they would have gotten some fox2s off for sure.
