    Brent, This is a fantastic production. Super smooth flow between the riding, the colour, the music and the amazing scenery. The colours came out so rich. It looks like the Skydio is a tough little drone, glad to didn't loose her at the beginning of this amazing journey. Cheers and many thanks.

    How incredibly beautiful is the nature of Australia!!! Just fantastic landscapes! And it was shot just fantastically cool. Not many bikers are able to make a video product of this quality. A professional cameraman and a biker in one person is a really great combination ;) I have been looking for good quality films about traveling through the wild nature of Australia for a long time. So far, this is the best I've seen ;) Shooting from your magical blue drone is also just amazing. I really hope to see films about your new travels in Australia. In general, not much has been filmed about traveling around Australia in comparison with other continents that are more accessible to travelers. I would really like to see a film about a trip to Western Australia, the Northern Territories, Central Australia. I'm sure there are plenty of beautiful places there. I'm looking forward to new exciting movies ;)

    Super impressive effort! I've had my Skydio 2+ for a couple of months now and it's as close to the best motodrone I've ever seen and worked with. For those moments of anxiety when you're drone has lost contact and is down in an unknown location, I've found a quick way to locate it unrelated to the app is by attaching Samsung SmartTags to the drone and the battery separately. Thanks for all the work that went into this!

      @@TheAussieSamurai Sorry for the late response. Bought mine here in the states. Skydio didn't seem to have any issue's filling the order. Skydio should be able to ship internationally, so I'd try just going to their stateside website for the purchase and then see what your shipment options are. They also chat online and are available by phone so also good options for information. Hope this helps and good luck!!

    An awesome production Brent. I likeD the way you introduced the skydio 2 into the story as it adds to the dynamics, especially for those of us that are into them. Got to admit my heart missed a beat when your drone crashed. You were so lucky. Having lived and worked in outback Australia as a NZ'er the beauty you showcased is so different to NZ's best but neither can be compared to the other because both are so beautiful. I have to come back to Australia and its all your fault.... lol

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  2 роки тому

      Thanks KA... yes, my heart skipped a beat as well when I saw that it has crashed. I was lucky... Although I have had 3 Skydio crashes and it has survived each time.... Although this time it would have been flying fast when it crashed....lucky it hit the grassy tuft. I haven't spent much time riding in NZ... I'll have to put that on my list.

    G’day Brent. We have downloaded your tracks and routes. Many thanks. They have been a helpful guide to our Flinders adventures.
    We thought we’d let you know that today we completed the Mt Gill climb from Warrawena Station. Hardest thing we have ever done but we managed it on 3 GS’s.
    There was some trepidation before we successfully climbed Mt Samuel however it should be directed all to Mt Gill.
    If you are back this way and attempt Mt Gill, it would be prefect for your drone. Footage would be incredible.
    Thanks again.
    Mike, Ben and Nev 😀🏍️💨

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  2 роки тому

      Hey MIke, thanks for your note. Really glad to hear that my tracks helped with your trip. Congrats on doing Mt Gill on 3 X GSs... How did it compare to Mt. Samuel. I thought Mt Samuel would certainly be challenging but do-able on the big bikes. I'm going to head back in 2023 and I will definitely do Mt. Gill on that trip.
      Take it easy
      Brent

      @@brentbat Mt Gill was 100% more difficult than Mt Samuel but to top that, we also managed to get to the top of Skytrek. There is no way we are going to do that long uphill again on a GS 😳it was simply brutal.

    Brent, thank you for the great video. You know, the haters will hate on Rekluse clutches, but it's such a great mod. It really smooths out a lot of issues and can really make the adventure much more enjoyable.

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  2 роки тому +1

      Yup, If the haters don't like them... the good news is they don't have to fit them. I'm in two minds about the Rekluse. I do miss the engine braking, and having the backwheel locked if you crash on a steep hill... But having said that, I haven't crashed on a steep hill since I've fitted the Rekluse... so there is something to be said for that. I love the way it makes tricky climbs so much easier.

    • @kevinh8338
      @kevinh8338 2 роки тому

      Yes, Rekluse on a 701 is a good thing. I hated it on a 450exc, but if set up correctly it improves the bike 👍

  • @nofrontiersmotoadvs
    @nofrontiersmotoadvs 2 роки тому +2

    Brent, brilliant production! I'm impressed with the amount of aerial shots. normally on other channels the use of the drone is limited to a small part of the video, I suppose because of the difficulty in taking the shots and the fact that the dji doesn't even come close to skydio in terms of motion track! really fantastic. I myself have a dji and I don't use it much because it's more stress than fun as it should be, with skydio everything seems so natural...

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  2 роки тому +3

      Hey there. Thanks for your note. I'm smiling as I wrote this because I just had a comment on one of my other videos and the guy writing it said I use too much drone footage in my videos... blah blah blah. I love the drone, it gives a great perspective, and when you are riding solo, if I don't use drone, then it's going to be boring POV stuff all the time. Yes, flying Skydio is so different to DJI drones. It tasks some getting used to when you switch (trusting the drone etc.). Once you learn to trust it, then you just ride.... and give the drone occasional instructions on direction and range... that's it.

    Great video Brent love the drone footage
    I had done a search on google maps of the Finders ranges and thought Willow Springs looked like a good spot
    I live in Adelaide and I saw a 2018 AT1000 online for sale in Mackay. I jumped on a plane picked it up and rode it back home. Love the bike !
    So I was out last Sunday testing her out on some dirt roads in the Adelaide Hills when I stopped at Mt Torrens pub and there were 3 adventure bike riders on BMW R 1250 GS Adventure bikes.
    Started chatting and I mentioned Willow Springs. All three started laughing and said "DON"T GO THROUGH THE LOCKED GATE !!" They showed me photos of their 3 BMW's laying on their sides sourrounded by football size rocks. They unloaded the bikes and got them out and returned through the locked gate. They advised me to just stick to the track which was quite good

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  2 роки тому +1

      Ah.. that is funny. Yes, I have seen people take the big bikes up the back of Skytrek, but as I said in my video... I would NOT want to be on a big bike. I reckon I could probably ride a GS up there... but it would definitely be sketchy... and I'm sure I'd be dropping it a few times. But Mt Samuel track is different, and also the loop around Artimore ruins and Nucaleena mine is also fine for big bikes. But the back part of Skytrek.... Nah! It's more suited for the mid-size or light weight bikes. But the first 3/4 of Skytrek is still a great ride.

    Neat windscreen solution, where did that come from? I notice you are using the Double Take mirrors, I found them a total pain as they take such a long time to reset up every time you fold them and they vibrate like hell as well as weighing a tonne. I now use Tourtech folding mirrors which are simply brilliant. They use a ratchet so you can flip them out and always return to the exact same position in exactly 1 second, no fiddly adjustment. Plus they are as clear as the OEM mirrors at speed. Also they are half the weight and half the price. Best mirrors I have ever used on my 690.

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  2 роки тому +1

      The windscreen solution is part of the Lynx fairing from Brittania in Canada. Works really well. Regarding the mirrors, I never fold them away when I ride, I leave the doubletake mirrors where they are, and just tilt the left one up so that it gives me visibility when standing on the pegs, the right one when I'm sitting, but I do use them to keep track of riders behind me. The Touratech mirrors look pretty sweet.

    Beautiful ride, cinematography, narration, drone and helmet cam shots. At 7:51 - 7:57 was your tail bag open on purpose or by mistake? I didn't hear you mention losing anything but it looks like the top flap isn't secure.

      So far my bike has been faultless (I wish I could say the same about the rider). It has been very reliable. I do enjoy working on the bike... so I keep it well maintained, but it has not let me down yet. I'm getting ready for a big 17 day adventure back to the Flinders and then across the Simpson, so we'll see how it goes on that test.

      Hey David, Yes I hear you... we are so unbelievably lucky in terms of the adventures that we have on an adv bike here. I have grown up in Australia and almost every time I go out riding I'm discovering new incredible places in my own country... often just hours from where I live. I just got back from a 3-day ride a few hours South of me and it was AMAZING. We are very very lucky.

It is my understanding that this is open, but you have to self register and pay a $30 fee to ride through. I was going to do this, but we got rain on the last night which made the roads quite muddy, and I decided that it was too risky to go right out into the wilderness on my own without understanding the condition of the roads. I think I made the right call, because even the major roads were treacherous and I dropped my bike on the last day in a mud bog.

      Hey HoneyBadger, I don't have a T7 and haven't ridden one, so I can't do that. The biggest difference is weight... 701 is 50kg lighter, but I know some riders that ride their T7s incredibly well and with their skill would go everywhere I could go (and more). My skill level is VER average, so I need all the help I can get (lighter bike etc.).

      @brentbat  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Harb, but I had a DJI before I bought the Skydio and doesn't work for me because I need really strong autonomous tracking... and Skydio is still so far ahead in that area. DJI drones are great for manual flying (in fact far superior to the Skydio) but I just don't fly it manually much.
