Me: No…no he isn’t. I’d like a guy who’d appreciate my presence and set time aside for us to develop a potential relationship. Apologizing after canceling is not okay and that is a clear distinction that he isn’t serious about you Ash.

A lot of the time I pick up on these “red flags” and choose to remain oblivious or make excuses for him. This time around I’m learning to see things at face value, accept the truth and move on.

I'm quite proud of myself these days. I told myself I will put myself first. In every area of my life. Started pampering myself, doing activities I enjoy with my friends, chatting with other guys. I am not waiting around trying to find out what is happening to him. I have been patient enough and I am not gonna exhaust myself anymore. True enough, he asked me out on a date and I actually planned to say those things Mark mentioned! He either steps out or I step out.

Love the ‘walking towards you’ analogy. After a few dates, you can kiss the guy but if he tries to make a move on you and you find his hands are starting to wander off, that’s the moment to say “whoa there cowboy. Cool your jets” if he hasn’t mentioned anything about being exclusive. That is the moment to simply say “I’m not sure where we are and I don’t sleep with men who are still on the dating market” because men who are skilled at romancing women will most definitely try to get you into bed without first clarifying what his intentions are. If his intentions are less than gentlemanly, watch him stutter and his words will suddenly become mangled or he will reveal himself by making excuses (I.e., I was just going with the flow, taking it one day at a time etc). If his reaction doesn’t sit right, pull the brakes.

Helena, I recently vocalised to a guy that I'm not ok with just dropping everything whenever it pleases him. I have a busy schedule and I expressed that I want people to make concrete plans so I can organize accordingly. He said that I'm too dominant and too controlling ("you took on that bad habbit from your work as a business consultant") and he said I should just live in the now instead.
It just irks me the wrong way. Is it really too dominant, or am I just annoyed at the lack of respect for me and my time? Not honoring my time and your plans with me is the biggest turn off.

You can have emotional affairs and still be unfaithful , doesn’t have to be sex for it to be an affair
Sometimes emotional affairs hurt more than sexual ones. It's because the other person is being vulnerable to another when the energy could be put into what is lacking with in the main relationship.

I have been "dating" with a guy I met last year and I like him a lot, but we've only met twice, with a month apart. I do still like him, but I am loosing interest. (We havent talk about feelings or what we want in a relationship). We dont speak so I dont know what to do...
If you’ve only seen him twice since last year and you don’t speak to each other, to me it doesn’t sound like you’re dating. 💜
What about going on and off with the same guy for years because of the distance? I feel like I can't tell him how I feel for him and Iet go off the situation and act like I don't really care but in fact I care so much about him and I'm afraid to tell him
Unless there is actual action/planning and commitment to no longer be long distance, you will have to let go of him. It is your choice to be going on and off for years. If you make the want/need list, it will be very clear what you truly want and need and to what degree this situation matches those needs at all. From there, you prioritize your own wants/needs and if that means cutting off someone who is not committing to you and does not even live near you, then you will be able to make that decision with strength and clarity to go towards the life you really want.
Yes, you never want to act like you don’t care when you really do or pretend anything. “On and off” for years is almost always a red flag, in my opinion. 💜

There are PLENTY of men who want to commit to a relationship, this just isn’t one of them. This is not what love is supposed to feel like, and the worst thing you could do is put yourself “on hold” or wait for a man who isn’t even sure if he wants to be with you.
