1:06
of those individuals that is doing
1:08
exactly the same but for many many
1:10
people Kate thank you so much for coming
1:12
on the podcast please introduce yourself
1:14
and tell us what you do yeah I'm Kate
1:16
Jackson I'm principal of King's College
1:17
here in Doha um thank you very much for
1:20
having me oh it's it's an absolute Joy
1:22
because I am a big fan of the King King
1:25
College I think what you've done there
1:26
and what you do there and how you bring
1:28
people in is wonderful
1:30
what tell us a little bit about the
1:32
college so Kings um has been part of my
1:35
life for the last four years I'm now my
1:37
fifth year of being um a leader at Kings
1:40
I started um back in 20 2020 um as head
1:45
of academics at the school when we were
1:48
smallish um 500 student school on Alam
1:51
Mama which was very cozy um very
1:53
different to the big establishment that
1:55
I worked in in the in the in County
1:57
Durham in the UK um
2:00
and we've we've grown you know this this
2:03
this discussion we're having is is
2:05
perfect because Kings as a school is is
2:08
a phenomenal place um our links with
2:11
Kings UK is um growing ever stronger and
2:14
that helps us to have that identity and
2:17
that uh momentum I think to grow our
2:20
pupils into well-rounded educated
2:23
outgoing confident creative um young
2:26
people and that's that's our dream
2:28
that's our vision um that's a lot that's
2:31
a lot to try and get into a student conf
2:34
but I like the confidence side of things
2:36
because I think it's really important
2:38
but there there's a massive job that you
2:39
do with these these guys and they're
2:42
they're going out then to all around the
2:43
world it's it's how does it stand up
2:46
with the other curriculums around the
2:48
world I think it it Stacks up really
2:50
well we have our we have our five C's
2:52
which is our King's character so we want
2:56
we want students to demonstrate those
2:58
characteristics and the and the five C's
3:00
are creative curious committed um caring
3:04
and confident um and those five C's
3:07
really are embedded the they're weaved
3:10
through the tapestry that is our
3:12
pedagogy in the school right from the
3:15
tiny ones in preschool all the way
3:17
through to our our big growing um six
3:19
forers who are sitting the A Levels this
3:22
year so I think like any like any good
3:26
school like any school that has the best
3:28
interests of of the people and the
3:30
families that that are part of our
3:32
community at heart I
3:35
think putting those five C's into
3:37
everything we do whether it's the
3:39
curriculum whether it's the co-curricula
3:42
the enrichment opportunities the the
3:44
focus that we have on Futures and
3:46
whatever that future might look like um
3:49
you know and I think the work that the
3:51
British Council have done in some of
3:53
those areas particularly the the
3:54
creative um sea is really really um
3:59
impactful and really resonates with
4:01
students and it it's it's one of those
4:03
things that really creates memories and
4:05
when you create a memory for a pupil in
4:08
