    I thought you might go for Bridgestone's when the tyres need replacing.

    If I did a calculation of the years of Lotto entries, then would be close to having such a rig in my own garage...or am I still dreaming. Onya guys...cheers.

    Hi Mick, very interesting video thank you. We have almost exactly the same vehicle and set up and are very happy with it.
    One additional thing we did do, was have the engine re-mapped. This small adjustment has certainly given us more power and greater economy as we are running on lower revs. All the best.

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  5 місяців тому

      Great stuff, the throttle controller does make a huge difference with power, more that I thought it would have.
      There would be no help with fuel economy though like an engine remap would be.
      Do you run air bags in the back of yours? I find them a little harsh at times if inflated much above 10-15PSI.

    Same as you in but 2017 I went to Lovells and upgraded the car, a 2009 Landcruiser VX to be able to tow 4t as we had a weight issue with the van. I upgraded the van to 3950kg ATM and of course had a Lovells 4t hitch fitted. I have airbags on the van but not the car as my ball weight does not exceed 280kg. The total GCM is now 7800kg. I have travelled the Gibb twice and the Plenty Hwy from Alice to Boulia and I am extremely happy with the Lovells fit with no problems so far. The van, when towing, is somewhere between 3.7 & 3.8t tows like a dream. I was the first one to have the upgrade fitted by my local TJM. I congratulate you on your choosing Lovells.

      The heavier vehicle weight up front of the caravan on undulating roads is a great improvement over the Colorado, we are not disappointed with what we have now👍

  • @jorobson1
    @jorobson1 5 місяців тому +1

    We ran a 200 series for several years towing an older Boroma caravan (just under 3500kgs with water tanks full). Same issues easy to go over on the rear axle. The Boroma has a fairly heavy ball weigh (340kgs) so that got transferred on the rear of Cruiser. We got a GVM upgrade which gave us a little over 3800kgs but more importantly over 2200kgs on the rear axle. I always still found that it was still a case of the tail wagging the dog, caravan heavier tan the tow vehicle and if we were confronted with a situation where we had to do a evasive action it was when you realised caravan was in control not the Cruiser. Lately we changed over to a Chev 2500HD which is like chalk and cheese when it comes to towing. Slightly better fuel burn and the Chev is in charge not the caravan. A lot of $$$ but definitely the next level towing.

      @@justcruisinwithmicksally837 we were amazed how easy it is to add the weight. Solar panels, bigger lithium batteries, water, fuel and a few other bits and pieces - itall just creeps up. Just noticed your chains are not crossed
    Maybe when you change new tyres have longer valve stems fitted.

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  5 місяців тому

      The chains are crossed although the cross sits directly under the coupling and not half way along the links as I would have expected, always been that way.
      Longer valve steams may help, something that needs attention to though.

      The Colorado was everything that we wanted, we had it set up just the way that it suited our requirements.
      Unfortunately we were overweight by too much that we could no longer ignore the fact that we were illegal and uninsured while out on the road with our van. It was either lose the Colorado or the van, both of we had set up for our needs👌

    Being at 4.5-5T gcm on my18 colorado I'm surprised you were over 6T gcm and didn't realise. That is reallly heavy for a colorado. How could it even pull that? Was your's auto with the stock 3.42s gears? If I don't sell mine I'm going to find some 3.73s from a manual and probably tune it after that. 3.42 worst gearing GM decided to go with. At all the common speeds 40 60 80 110 it's lugging in gear and if you drop back it's too much. Therefore that's where 3.73s would help. The 4.10s out of the rg ii manual would be too much I reckon and create the same problem as the 3.42s at some speeds.

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  5 місяців тому

      We have always been just on or over on the 6T GCM for some time. The Colorado had no issue with handling the weight of the caravan, even with empty or full water tanks there was no difference in pulling power. We have three water tanks in our caravan which is a lot of weight when full.
