It’s good to be getting back to the van build after an awesome time up in Scotland! More build videos and progress on the van coming soon, don’t forget to check out Squarespace - squarespace.com/willswhereabouts
You need to use the cross cut sled that probably came with the saw, or make one to use with it. Tablesaws are designed to make long cuts along the grain, for example if you needed to split one of the pieces of cladding down the middle length ways. What you're trying to achieve would be best done on a mitre saw or at very least with a cross cut sled on your tablesaw. Otherwise it fires wood out at you and damages the saw.
Good to see you back! When you're ready for your European Adventure, let us know. I can give you a great "road book" of places to see and food to try when in Portugal, from North to South!
This is making us want to do another van build even more! Cladding and fan mount looks great! Like the two central lights at the back and the lights on fan looks lush!
Honestly loved it when you did your wild camping. Not so much anymore. Personal choice I know. NC 500, ok. Lot more to see. I've done it. I really hope your van works out. Keep positive and posting.
Will, you need to make a separate video of DIY bloopers, I laughed so much watching this vlog, you just took away the pain of me getting a parking ticket yesterday. Again another AMAZING video and the van is coming along just great.
Hey Will, remember its a small space, so any colour darker than white will make it seem smaller, and perhaps a little bit more claustrophobic. So, I'd advise to avoid any dark colours inside.
Use some Danish Oil on the cladding to maintain that Nordic / Spa look. It's not horrible varnish and will settle to a satin and flat finish and not uber glossy. Easy to apply with a lint free cloth and two coats should easily crack it ...
Watched all your episodes on 1 day and enjoyed them all. You have done a great job so far. Looking forward to see the next one. Good luck from the Netherlands
Will you were very brave to carryout this huge project , I for one cant stop laughing as your should everything warts and all , you've had me in stiches all night mate🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad you’re back on van build. You looked quite professional at times lol. or Dan the man did, even his camera work. Keep up the good work you’re getting there. 🥴🤪
If I was only 400 miles further down the road buddy…could’ve given a hand. 😀 Architecturally trained but I’ve built loft conversions, kitchens, bathrooms etc…and fitted a van out too. Travel expenses would be daft though 😜😂
Real!y enjoyable video. Don't worry Will my power tool skills are a lot worse than yours. I'm very much all the gear no idea. Looks like with a bit of Will Power you're managing to get things done. With all the boarding on it will soon start to feel like a home instead of a van. If you like the colour of Charlie & Lauren's wood in their camper they used a paint colour called antique cream. One question, has Dan the Man got a Van? Until the next time where we'll no doubt see more of you and Dan poking things in holes with plenty of screwing inbetween 🤔 💪
Great video Will, the van is looking awesome, much brighter to, so looking forward end result of your van build, be proud of yourself Will. 🚐👍🤟🏼✌️👍👍👍🚐🚐
Nice to see you back on track mate. You’re a natural with those power tools but go steady. Especially with that table saw. You could lose vital body parts. Stay safe buddy. Great video as usual. Thanks for sharing and entertaining me. 👍🏻
Progress is taken one step at a time and never measured by the mile! Will, that fence did not look right on the table saw for some reason and you drew the board backwards, hence the kickback?! As scary as it is, always continue forward on your cut. Your Mate Dan is a good Man for helping you out. All the best, stay safe and healthy!
@@WillsWhereabouts You are doing great Will! All part of the learning process. Having seen the natural board up, maybe just do a natural sealant and keep nice and bright. Or, paint it white for better light reflection. Keep on smilin' Mate!
Great job will ! Looks so good do something special with the storage under the bed that will give the bed a extra support you can add your small fridge aur jackery there maybe your gasline stove all ths big things
Nice one Will, personally I like the colour of the Wood Cladding, but after a while your see whether it grows on you or whether you want another colour. Keep @ it 😎Steve IOW
Asked my dad who is a joiner and he said the reason table saw dosnt work is the bit of wood isnt big enough there designed for cutting sheets if want to cut stuff like that easy use a chop saw it won't send stuff flying 50ft away 😂😂 van builds looking good thow cant wait to see it finished and you doing more adventures
The kick back you keep getting is partly because the waste of your cut should be on the otherwise of the blade, or use a mitre sled to keep it off the fence. It does that as the wood twists and catches the blade.
Cladding looks good Will! Can’t wait to see the van finished! Although having said that, I’ve had my van for 4 years and still finding other little bits to do to improve it so it’s a never ending project really
Having the wooden cladding should change the acoustics inside the van. It shouldn't sound as, 'echo-ey', as it did beforehand, plus it'll add a bit of sound and heat insulation.
I didn't expect the van to look this good This looks stunning and the colour as well I don't think it needs any colouring to do (just my opinion) Just waiting for the looks of finished van
I agree. In a small space the lighter finish would go better and make the van feel more spacious. Maybe just use a clear finish of some kind. If you still want to add a bit of a colour, just use a very light stain that you apply and wipe off. More forgiving, also, than the type you brush on as there are no brush marks! 😁. Look forward to your next video!
great to see you making progress with your van. it looks great , well done. it might be a good idea to get rid of the table saw before it kills you !!!
If you are going to Danmark, just say the word, and I will be happy to show you arround our great nature spots Will. And you are offcourse welcome to say a night in our backyard.
Looks like mums kitchen at home make sure you leave room for expansion as moisture will have a big effect also decent gaps all arround will stop it creaking when driving arround.
Hi Will, great to see you back on the build mate, I'm starting my own build in January, and your giving me lots of ideas 😎 Loved the nc500 you did too mate, keep up the good work 👍
Beware using varnish/wood stain etc which is high in VOC’s when staining your cladding. (Mel’s van life top tip) or or you’ll die, or maybe get asthma. Great vid as always
Awesome sauce looking good Will if you’re looking for really good insulation you should buy some rock wool it doesn’t matter if it gets wet it will dry out and you will not get mold also it does not lose its insulation value it’s a bit pricey but well worth it I use some of it in my ram pro master that I use for Expedited rush emergency Freight. I can’t wait for the Europe adventure to begin make sure you get your diesel heater installed before you head over that way case it gets a bit chilly 🥶😎👍🇨🇦🇨🇦
Get in there your back on the build. Love this build because this is so me next month when I do my van build for my channel next month. Good luck with the rest dude 🤜🤜
I was getting used to the unfinished look Will... It was growing on me! 🤭 Looking forward to the continuation of the van build series. Maybe need to rename it to... "Will's Van Build... By Others!" 🤣😂
The new ceiling looks really nice! Me, I would probably leave the colour as is. Although I am probably partial to that sauna look seeing as I'm from Finland. 😂👌
That ceiling makes a vast improvement. I did wonder about you getting a Fire Extinguisher with all that flammable timber and other stuff to be fitted ... especially as you are cooking with naked flames. I also wondered whether there were lighter weight materials than timber that might be used for ceilings and walls as they raise the centre of gravity of the van and the weight ? Any ideas ? Walls/Floor and the space will start to feel cosy, plus much less noisy ... Psychologically, it will also make you feel warmer in winter too ... Good luck with the next stage.
Will you be installing a shower and toilet...I am at early stage of doing the same going to get insulation etc soon...hello from waterford Southern Ireland 🇮🇪.

This was even mentioned in the Steve Ramsey tutorial video he watched! Cutting corners doesn't always cut time, but it can cut fingers!
Good to see you back! When you're ready for your European Adventure, let us know. I can give you a great "road book" of places to see and food to try when in Portugal, from North to South!
Only just got a notification!! Yes, back on the build! Well done mate, made my day a bit brighter watching this!! ,👍
The ceiling is looking good Will 👌. I’m relieved you made it through another DIY session without a trip to A&E 😉
lolol
Just 😂
Hahah so am I
Good to see you resume the van build with all its calamity Will.
This is making us want to do another van build even more! Cladding and fan mount looks great! Like the two central lights at the back and the lights on fan looks lush!

Fantastic progress. Keep up the good work.
The van life is something I could do easily...
Will, you need to make a separate video of DIY bloopers, I laughed so much watching this vlog, you just took away the pain of me getting a parking ticket yesterday. Again another AMAZING video and the van is coming along just great.
Hah glad my failures can ease the pain!
I thought this WAS the blooper video :)
Hey Will, remember its a small space, so any colour darker than white will make it seem smaller, and perhaps a little bit more claustrophobic. So, I'd advise to avoid any dark colours inside.
Happy Christmas. Happy Van Building.

Looking verry nice with that wooden ceiling, looking forward to see the end result. Don't forget to visit Holland on your European tour !!!
Thanks Nico, 100% want to check out Holland
Good job Will. Looks very scandi!
Loving the update I'm now following Charlie and Lauren as I enjoyed the Scotland holiday.
Awesome thanks very much Mandy
Can't wait to see a European tour in a completed van, come on Will you can do it.
Let's hope this happens one day hah
The wood makes the interior look really nice
Looking good, carnt wait to see the finished product. Cheers will.
Thanks 👍
Good to see your getting the van build done after all that fun up in Scotland looking forward to the final result mate
Will you were very brave to carryout this huge project , I for one cant stop laughing as your should everything warts and all , you've had me in stiches all night mate🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I always look forward to watching your videos (on Sunday nights here in the 🇵🇭). Its a great way for me to end the weekend and start a new week.
Thanks very much Jes
Looking good Will, the finish line is now 1 step closer.
hah and still 5 years away
A day well spent! looking great man, crisp and professional
Great job boys! Osmo stain is definitely the way to go if you're not after a painted finish.
Well done Will, nice job lads.
Glad you’re back on van build. You looked quite professional at times lol. or Dan the man did, even his camera work. Keep up the good work you’re getting there. 🥴🤪
Hah not sure about professional but at least it went up and hasn't fallen down so far
If I was only 400 miles further down the road buddy…could’ve given a hand. 😀
Architecturally trained but I’ve built loft conversions, kitchens, bathrooms etc…and fitted a van out too.
Travel expenses would be daft though 😜😂
A short time to escape all of my daytime stress! Love your videos. 👍
Our advise would be to use a sealed vapour barrier to stop condensation building up behind your insulation.
Well done, Will. Happy to see you back at the build😊👍
Real!y enjoyable video. Don't worry Will my power tool skills are a lot worse than yours. I'm very much all the gear no idea. Looks like with a bit of Will Power you're managing to get things done. Looking awesome the cladding and Dan and you have done brilliantly on the cladding looking forward to next video and seeing the van progressing

Absolutely class I’m mad to do a van build now myself because of ur vids. Epic💯💯

Great idea for sure
Will is to power tools to what Steven Hawkins was to break dancing 🕺
Nice one Will, personally I like the colour of the Wood Cladding, but after a while your see whether it grows on you or whether you want another colour. Keep @ it 😎Steve IOW
Good to leave the cladding a week or two before painting, this softwood naturally carries moisture and will shrink slightly when It dries out.
Coming together nicely Will 😊👍

That looks proper that Will. You should rig up that saw in some sort of power tool javelin/discus throwing type thing.
The kick back you keep getting is partly because the waste of your cut should be on the otherwise of the blade, or use a mitre sled to keep it off the fence. It does that as the wood twists and catches the blade.
Enjoying watching you build the van up in stages looking forward to seeing more of the vids of you building it
Thanks Lee :)
back to reality eh? Love the ceiling. I'm half way through sound deadening mine and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing the next video
