I built a 1/4 scale decathlon back in 1987. Twin cylinder 4 stroke. Flew it for over 20 years. These flying Styrofoam ice chests get folks into the hobby quick since they don't have to do much to build them. While they have advanced the hobby in some ways they don't fly anywhere near a balsa built airplane. But they do fly and give many the chance to experience RC flying.
