Clearly a cost savings move by SVS, the metal ones looked nicer and I had no resonance issues Wharton my four PB-16 subs. Switched to SB-17 using their upgrade program and the cloth ones look more conventional, but lack the durability and child proof feature of the metal.
One glaring issue with these subs is the rear panel buttons next to the display (up, down, mode). They’re backlit and can’t be turned off, thus emitting a very slight glow that’s slightly noticeable when your tv/projector screen goes full black. A little gaffer’s tape can fix that.
Unfortunately, they don’t dim and this is an oversight by their development team. Maybe a future firmware update would take care of this, but who knows.
Jesus Christ, talk about being annoying and anal. “There’s a very slight hint of a blue glow from the back of the subwoofer! 😭 😫 😩 waaaaa waaaa waaaa!” 🤦♂️
These both look very impressive!
Thanks for watching!
Great features on these subs. I’m excited to hear them!
Thanks for watching!
Love the “reimagined” marketing fluff.
Thanks for watching
Great review. I appreciated the detailed outline on each model.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Can't wait to hear these in your showroom!
Enjoy!
They look very impressive! Thanks for the video.
We're glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome new subs! SVS just keeps raising the bar.
They sure do! Thanks for watching!
Would the sealed SB17 be the best in their lineup for music? Looking to upgrade!
Yep!
SVS has always made the best subwoofers.
For sure!
I'm glad I have the previous version with the metal grill. There is a reason why you can't find an image online of these subs with the grill attached.
Yes, they only come with a cloth grill.
I had an SB 4000 with a metal grill that resonated. No thanks
Wait for Monalith by Monoprice❤💪💣💣
@@SGTOldSchool96 You should get that fixed. My SB 16 Ultra has a solid, quiet metal grill. Moreover, it looks a ton better than a cheap plastic grill.

As always outstanding review ❤
Thanks!!
Thank you for the introduction and info and demo well done 👏🏼 👍🏼✌🏼🏴🇬🇧
Thanks!
@@AudioAdvice You’re welcome 🏴🇬🇧
did you test edge of tomorrow intro scene by any chance? my pb16 gets chuffing at slightly higher levels :(
What i cannot believe such an expensive sub having such issues 😢
We didn't get the chance to but we will try it out. Thanks for the recommendation
@@AudioAdvice yes try it because it caused port noise in pb 16 ultra and thats not acceptable at all for such an expensive sub 😅😅
@Lakshyakapila Here's the solution, stop driving your subs like that, it's unnecessary to do to get quality performance.
Boy that SB17 does look nice though. I have two SB2000s and would love an upgrade to dual SB17s .
It rocks!!!
Ill take the older SVS PB16 and SB16.
Still great options!
Wonder why SVS didn’t just go straight to an 18” driver?
Maybe next time? Good question!
18" would not fit in the same box.

Good catch. We thought they dimmed after a while, but we could be wrong. Either way, a bit of tape would fix it like you said.

Great video! Has SVS indicated any timeframe on app updates?
Hopefully December 🤞
What’s about group delay? Thats always very high if we compare the 16” series vs others
If I only could afford one!
Thanks for watching!
I have one pair for SB 4000 in a apartment. I can't imagine.
Yes, these are HUGE and very poweful.
What is the sub's max power?
I wish they would allow a regular calibrated microphone. I can't see a smart phone mic being very accurate at low frequencies.
Good point, we will pass that on.
We need to know more as to how they sound. The fluff isn't going to convince me. Convince me why I should upgrade.
Where are the numbers on this sub? (Distortion , DB,s , transient response?) Why has SVS not released this imformation or anybody else?
It is interesting SVS does not have a response graph like they normally do. Hopefully we will see some soon. Thanks for watching
so for the $... One of the ported ones or two PB-3000s?
Dual 3000.
Probably two subs to evenly distribute the bass better in your room.
How much power they can handle?
I believe it’s 4 mono blocks combined into 2 amps with a total of 2500 rms.
Wow!!
Thanks for watching!
Can someone please just tell us if the transients and group delay have been improved lol
The smaller one is more appealing to me
Fair enough!
I'm already at my *ultimate Level*.
Awesome!!
New port chuffing subwoofer.
You'll need a crane to get them in your house.
Haha!
i have dirty socks and a mini dsp that can match the "versatility"
is this review or advertisement??
Or you could buy 4 RSL 10s MKII’s for less money and blow either of these out of the water….
4 subs are nice to have but the RSL 10 does not reach down anywhere near how deep these go. Thanks for watching
