It looks sooo easy when you do it! Final product looks awesome! Like you I’m not a big fan of body mounted rocker guards, but these do look well engineered & "up to the task".

I'm about to install these on my JT & I went through their instructions & it has me putting the skins on first, by themselves... then the step piece. Man that came out awesome, have to admit Eddie makes it look easy!! You should have the pink panther theme song, the anticipation for the install to be done is nerve racking!! Awesome video!! AGAIN
I"ve used the magnetic tool retriever to help place bolts into cavities where I can easily grab it once it goes through....like that of your JL's pinch seam.
As usual great video!! I love the look and may consider getting these... As others have stated I always pickup great ideas from watching your channel...
Those bombers look awesome. I noticed you didn't use anything between body and slider door final install. Not worried about dirt and or water getting behind the skin and body of the Jeep? I installed some Rock Slide Engineering steps on my JK and had to do similar style install but I also installed a rubber seal to help keep stuff out of there. Wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks
after watching the Evo Gladiator and you at EJS my thoughts on the sliders have changed. The bottom bolts are not as exposed as they look on camera. It's hard to tell when it is not in person.
LOL - they're kind of tucked into a corner. While I won't say they could never get hit, hitting them isn't as easy as you'd think. You're more likely to hit the frame rails or the outer edge of the rocker guards first.
Awesome!! Don’t even wait to like wayalife videos because they are always great! Thank you guys.. Ps: can you tell Mel to speed up process for content on the gladiator ASAP 😆
If you land hard on them , it bends your body. Only buy rockers that bolt to your frame. Never on the sheetmetal. Only 3 bolts per rocker. Poison Spider makes a couple. Much easier to install, and really strong.
LOL - guess you missed the part in the video where I say that I've never really been a fan of body mounted rockers and why. Just giving these a try and if they don't hold up, we'll be changing them out. Being that you're a fan of PS, you should be sure to buy their stuff :)
Awesome video as always my friend it looks good but I have one concern with these the open slots on the bottom would be catching alot of mud and grime looks like a pain to be able to clean them out not so much a problem in ur part of country but where mud is around alot could cause problems later.
Agree that tub mounted rocker guards have been an issue on the JK. A hit can easily damage the body panels. Will be interested in seeing how they perform on the JL. They do look good.
@@tonyadame3502 LOL - Sorry, this is what we do. It's what we've been doing for well over 20 years. Unfortunately, this early on in a Jeep model, a lot changes and it'll keep changing. If you want to do it just once, you really need to wait about 5 or 6 years. By then, all the good ideas will have been made.
Eddie, I watched your video of installing the LOD Signature sliders, and then saw this one with the EVO sliders. Can you recommend one over the other for protection. I slammed my factory ones pretty hard on the Rubicon, and need something stronger.
Both will get the job done much better than factory. These have a cleaner look but they are mounted to the body. So far, I have found them to hold up great in spite of the fact. The LoD is frame mounted and can take the abuse great because of it.
kinda curious as to why you changed out your other rocksliders that you installed awhile back seemed like they were pretty effective and i really liked the looks of them. I had very much enjoyed your install video on them
Same reason why we've changed out our lifts about half a dozen times now. Testing out different products is what we do so that we can share what we learn from them with people like you.
Great video! I am going to get me a outsert tool for myself. Question though. When I installed my rear fender flares I did outserts. First time and a learning experience. I actually beveled out a hole a bit and I put in the nutsert. Problem is the outsert is slightly loose and spins from time to time when I installed my inner fender liners. What would be your suggestion to fix this? Can I remove the outsert in anyway? Or if I use the outsert tool and attach it would it maybe crush it more and make it snug? I am thinking maybe I didn't make it tight enough and even though the hole is slightly larger it then wouldn't move. What are your thoughts? Also, I really like those rocker guards and been debating on getting some for my JL. I am also looking at the EVO tire carrier since watching your video a while back as well.
Those are some really nice looking rocker guards. You should have gotten Mel to help you with the install! lol I think you're right, the body panel will spread the load all along the side of the rig which should make it sturdy enough for the hardest hits. That's some beefy looking steel!
Great video, I’ve been binge watching your videos for two days now my wife and I just ordered a 2019 Rubicon we are newbies to the Jeep world but are super excited, what should be our first diy upgrade? We ordered it with the V6 btw
Always been curious with side armor with the rivets into the body, but I agree that EVO thought about insuring that they’re secure by other means. I know ground clearance but did you have any other issues with the LoD rock rails? I really like the look of LoD and not really into drilling holes into the body of the Jeep.
I had to chuckle when you said around the 7 30 point that you didn't want to damage them with the wrench. Now you will go out and run over some rocks.. :))
do you think it's worth putting a bead of silicone between the body and the skin to prevent grit and salt getting in there? I live where there's lots of salt in the winter
They look like they would protect more surface but we will see the strength when you test them. Not sure how you would be able to test any other rails as you stated. I still like your LOD rails but we will see how these do. Awesome video as always
I like the look of those rock sliders. I have Poison Spyder on my TJ and like that they work as a step also. Those EVOs look like they could work as a step but a bit narrow. Do they work for you as a step platform? May get a set for the JL. I love your videos, you do a great job👍
How do these compare to the frame mounted LOD rock sliders you installed? I was convinced the LOD ones were the way to go but wondering why you went away from frame mounted ones which I thought were stronger.
I almost regret my first comment. But, maybe it helps other viewers. I agree that EVO clearly went to significant lengths to add structural integrity to bolster the sheet metal. With that said, what is an advantage to these over those offered by Mopar that are super easy to mount?
The Mopar ones only attach to the pinch seam and bottom of the tub. This is strong but not enough to prevent them from moving and making contact with the body. Add a bit of with like these do to give more of a stand off and/or a step and there is more leverage that needs to be addressed. The skins help make it possible to support the added stress and distribute the load from a hit.
Picking up a set of these. I would like to match the finish your powder coater did. Is there something specific I can tell my guys to obtain same finish?
Unfortunately, different shops use different powder and they all have different names. For our rocker guards, the shop that did the work called it a "cast black" but I know it isn't something that's universal. The best I can describe, it is a fine textured semi-gloss black.
I know this video is 3 years old. I’m putting the same sliders on my 2020 Jeep jt gladiator and can’t seem to find the torque spec for the body mount bolts? Also did you torque the Allen bolts? Thanks
This might be a silly question, but are you worried about those bolt heads that stick out from the railing that face downwards? Wouldn't sliding over any rocks damage the heads of the bolts and be a pain to replace all the time? Love your videos bud, & I don't even own a Jeep!
LOL - you mean like all the factory bolts that stick down from things like the cross member or even the frame rail back in the JK days? Honestly, it's not that big of a deal. In the almost 25 years that I've been doing this Jeep thing, I've seen plenty of banged up bolt heads but none have been bad enough that you couldn't just file the sides down straight again, if and or when needed. I'd rather have it this way than have "protection" that gets all beat up and prevent you from accessing the bolt at all. This is something I've seen and have had to deal with and to me, they are worse.
Love your videos! How have they held up? 2 years later would you do these again or do you think you would do frame mount? I'm assuming you like them because they are on the JT as well and look so good!!

Sweet looking guards. Extra thick nice! Not sure about the exposed bolt heads right on the bottom slider surface! Maybe they can alter the design so they are flush mounted in V2 edition? I see those wearing down once you start scraping them on rocks. Just like your front pumpkin bolt head did.
LOL - you mean, more like the factory bolts on the cross member. I guess for me, it's never been a big deal and I'd rather run bolts that I can still work on even if mashed than flush mounted bolts that will still get jacked but to the point where you can't even get an allen wrench or any other kind of tool in them to work them out. At least with bolt heads, I can still file them down if and or when needed.
Really appreciate your detailed videos. They greatly help set the stage for what all is involved with an installation. I recently installed an ARB compressor on the firewall of my 2018 JLU using your video as a guide. I also really like the appearance of these EVO rockers and am seriously considering putting them on my Jeep. They are not cheap, but the quality looks solid. My question for you is can you offer a range for what one might pay to have the EVO rockers powder coated? I am just looking for an idea of what I might spend for powder coating on top of the rockers cost. Thanks for your help and keep those videos coming, they are awesome - love the new pup BTW!
Anything not mentioned to look out for installing these? How valid are they for using them as an actual step in conjunction with the armor.? About to mount these and hope it turns out ok.
I'm pretty sure I covered all the bases in the video including things I forgot to do LOL! I use them to stand on all the time and can't see why they wouldn't work as a step if needed. I do know others have put 3M traction tape on top for extra grip too.
Tough to say because filming always makes every install take a lot longer. But, I'd say you could do it in about 4-6 hours depending on how skilled you are.
Nice installation Eddie, Thanks for sorting out the little details for your followers. Looks great. Question for you unrelated. Have you found the JL to drag bottom more than previous generations? I have found JKs with similar builds get over obstacles easier due to bottom clearance. I'm at the point of going to D60s and 40s to remedy the tougher obstacle clearance issues. I just did ram assist to help the no steer problem. Slowly sorting out irritating issues. Thanks for what you do! OlllllllO
Been wanting to swap my current rocker guards & sliders for EVO boatside bombers for my jku...just trying to figure out a work around because nutserts with my current set-up don't line up with EVO's plus they overlap so I can't just poke more holes into my rig. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
To be honest, EVO designed their skins because way back in the day, they were running a different set of body mounted rocker guards too. The skins hid the holes from it. Sure, you need to drill more holes but if you want to make the change, that's your best bet.

Can this fit on the Jeep gladiator as well ?
Great job man,LOVE IT..
Thank you :)
Can they add a few more bolts??
LOL!! There are a TON of them for sure.
Another great video👍
Thank you :)
At least with bolt heads, I can still file them down if and or when needed.
very nice job looks awesome
Thank you :)
Depends on where you live. I was able to get mine powder coated for about $200
Anything not mentioned to look out for installing these? How valid are they for using them as an actual step in conjunction with the armor.? About to mount these and hope it turns out ok.
I'm pretty sure I covered all the bases in the video including things I forgot to do LOL! I use them to stand on all the time and can't see why they wouldn't work as a step if needed. I do know others have put 3M traction tape on top for extra grip too.
Great video. Thanks Eddie!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video. How long did it take you for both sides?
Tough to say because filming always makes every install take a lot longer. But, I'd say you could do it in about 4-6 hours depending on how skilled you are.
Eddie there is a drill attachment tool for installing nutserts that works way better than the traditional pull tool.
I think this is what you're wanting amzn.to/2Q6H2ZD
However, I find that the tool I use in this video to work just as well.
Nice, detailed install!
Thank you :)
Awesome job pal!
Thank you :)
They look good and quite sturdy, cant believe you did not use threadloc blue{ medium} on all the nuts as none were locking nyloc's.
The nuts were all nylocs. No loctite needed.
Can you pls comment on why you switched from the LOD sliders? Was there an issue or you just wanted to try something new?
No issues, testing out different products is just what we do.
Install on my JT today. These are a PIA to install no doubt.
LOL - but they look and work great :)
Nice installation Eddie,
Thanks for sorting out the little details for your followers.
OlllllllO
The JL is physically 2" longer between the wheels. You definitely feel the longer wheel base especially compared to the JK.
The sliders look amazing! So many things I want to do to my JL lol. Its just me but, I wish those button head bolts were painted black.
You could always paint them before installing them. I've done that with other projects in the past.
